The Zoho One free trial lasts 30 days and Zoho says no card is needed. During the trial you get access to Zoho One's full potential, and when it ends you choose whether to stay on the Essentials plan or the Standard plan. You start it by clicking Activate Free Trial on Zoho One's homepage or sign up page.
Zoho One isn't one app. It's a bundle of business apps covering sales, marketing, customer service, finance, HR and collaboration, billed on one invoice. That makes the trial more like a month to test whether you can run your whole business on Zoho, so it pays to go in with a plan.
What you get in the Zoho One trial
| Detail | What Zoho says |
|---|---|
| Length | 30 days |
| Card needed? | No card needed |
| Access | Zoho One's full potential for the length of the trial |
| When it ends | Decide between the Essentials plan and the Standard plan |
| Paid apps during the trial | Upgrade the trial to a paid subscription first |
That last row is a detail from Zoho's setup guide worth knowing early. If you try to add a paid app to Zoho One while you're still on the trial, Zoho says you need to upgrade the trial to a paid subscription first. So the trial covers the Zoho One suite itself, not every paid add-on.
Essentials or Standard: the decision you'll make
Zoho One currently has two editions. Zoho describes Essentials as designed for companies starting their digital journey, with CRM, collaboration, finance management, marketing, customer service and HR tools. Standard includes more than 50 applications and the services a company of any size needs to run in a connected way.
| Edition | Best for | Changing later |
|---|---|---|
| Essentials | Small companies getting their core tools in one place | You can upgrade to Standard, but all users must move together |
| Standard | Businesses that want the full 50+ app suite | You can downgrade to Essentials, but all users must move together |
The all-employee pricing rule
Read this before the trial ends. Zoho's pricing page offers two ways to license Standard. With all-employee pricing, Zoho says your business commits to buying Zoho One licences for every employee on payroll, not just the people who use it. With flexible user pricing, you buy licences for any number of users, at a higher rate per user. For a team where only a few people need the software, that choice makes a big difference to your bill, so check the live pricing page for your currency before you commit.
How to set up the trial so it's useful
- Go to Zoho One's sign up page and click Activate Free Trial. No card is asked for.
- Confirm your account. Zoho's setup guide notes that many admin tasks only work after the account is confirmed.
- Set up your organisation and add a few real users, so you're testing permissions and collaboration, not just one login.
- Pick the two or three apps you'd use daily, for example CRM, invoicing and help desk, and run real work through them.
- Before day 30, decide on Essentials or Standard and which pricing model fits your headcount.
Who the Zoho One trial suits
It suits small businesses juggling several separate tools and paying for each one. If you're running a CRM from one company, invoicing from another and support from a third, a month on Zoho One shows whether one suite could replace them. If you only need one piece, such as a CRM, compare focused tools first. My roundup of Zoho CRM alternatives and my Zoho vs Salesforce comparison are good places to start.
What to watch out for
- Don't spread yourself across all 50+ apps. A month goes quickly, and you'll learn more from using three apps in depth.
- Move a copy of real data in, not the only copy. Keep your current tools running until you've decided.
- Plan the user count. Upgrading or downgrading between editions applies to every user in your organisation.
- Note any paid app you want. You'll have to upgrade the trial before you can add it.
Questions to answer before day 30
- Which tools would Zoho One replace, and what do you pay for them today?
- Did your team use it, or only you? Zoho One's value comes from central control of users and permissions across the apps.
- Do you need Standard's 50+ apps, or does Essentials cover your sales, service, marketing and finance work?
- Which licensing model fits: every employee on payroll, or only the people who use it?
- Is there a paid add-on you can't live without, which would mean upgrading the trial early?
Zoho also points out that Zoho One is one suite billed on one invoice. For many small businesses, cutting the number of separate subscriptions and logins is as valuable as any single feature.
For reference, Zoho One's small business page lists all-employee pricing at $37 per employee per month, billed annually, with local taxes added, as of October 2026.

My advice
Treat the 30 days as a pilot, not a demo. Choose the jobs that currently cost you the most time, run them on Zoho One with your actual team, and keep notes on what's faster and what's clunky. With no card on file there's no risk of a surprise charge, so the only cost is your time. Spend it on real work and you'll know by week three whether Essentials, Standard or neither is right for you.
