A Zocdoc alternative is another app that lets you find a doctor and book an appointment online. Some are same-day urgent care, some are primary care memberships, and several cover countries where the original app doesn't operate. Ten doctor booking apps follow, in no particular order.
Booking a doctor used to mean phoning a surgery and waiting on hold. Booking apps fixed a lot of that, but no single app covers every country, every clinic or every type of care, so it helps to know what else is out there.
The ten apps below are listed alphabetically and in no particular order. Every description comes from the app's own App Store listing, read this week. If you run a clinic and wonder how patients find you, my guide to digital marketing for small clinics looks at it from the other side.
Zocdoc alternatives at a glance
I checked the free plan column on each app's own App Store listing, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the listing names a free app, a free version, a free tier or free content. Trial only means a time-limited trial. Not stated means the listing I read named neither, even where there's a download button, so check the app's own page before you sign up.

Booking apps, telehealth and memberships
Not every app here works the same way. Some are directories that show open slots at many independent practices. Some are clinics in their own right, where you see their own doctors in person or by video. Others are memberships, where you pay the clinic directly and book through its app.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
That difference matters. A directory gives you choice. A clinic app gives you continuity with the same provider. A telehealth service gives you speed, but it may not suit every problem, so check what kind of visit you're booking before you confirm.
Check your insurance before you book
In the US, HealthCare.gov says most health plans give you the best deal when you see a doctor who has a contract with your plan, known as in network. It suggests checking your plan's provider directory, calling your insurer or calling the doctor's office to ask if they accept your plan.
A booking app can show an open slot, but only your insurer or the office can confirm a doctor is in network for your exact plan. A two-minute call before the visit can save a surprise bill after it.
Five checks before you book
- Confirm the app covers your country, city and the kind of doctor you need.
- Check whether the visit is in person, by video or by message.
- Check the doctor is in network for your plan, if you have insurance.
- Read the cancellation and rescheduling rules.
- In an emergency, call your local emergency number rather than using an app.

My plain advice on Zocdoc alternatives
Pick the app that matches where you live and what you need right now. For a quick problem today, a same-day urgent care app makes sense. For ongoing care, a primary care app where you keep the same doctor is usually the better fit. And always confirm cover with your plan before a visit, not after.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best alternative to Zocdoc?
It depends on where you live and the care you need. Same-day apps suit urgent problems, primary care apps suit ongoing care, and local apps suit other countries.
Is there a Zocdoc for the UK or Europe?
Some apps on this list cover European countries such as Switzerland, so check the app's listing for your country.
Are doctor booking apps free for patients?
Some name free use on their listing. Check the free plan column, and remember the visit itself is billed separately.
How do I know if a doctor is in network?
Check your plan's provider directory, call your insurer, or call the doctor's office, as HealthCare.gov suggests.
Can I book a video appointment through these apps?
Several apps here offer video visits as well as in-person appointments. Check the listing before you book.
Should I use a booking app in an emergency?
No. In an emergency, call your local emergency number straight away.
