Wix Email Marketing is the newsletter tool in your site's dashboard: you build a campaign from a template, from scratch, with AI or with your own HTML, choose recipients from your contacts and send it now or on a schedule. You can send as many campaigns as you like within a monthly email balance, and the free allowance is 200 emails a month.
Here's the catch with that balance. Emails count the moment you schedule them, not when they go out, and deleting or pausing a scheduled campaign doesn't give them back, as of October 2026. Edit a scheduled campaign and it pauses itself and won't resume until you reschedule it. Scheduling itself needs a paid email marketing plan, which is separate from your Wix site plan. And once you've hit the monthly limit, your campaigns stop, along with any automations that send promotional emails.
What uses up your Wix email balance
One send is one email to one recipient. So a campaign to 50 contacts uses 50 emails, whether you send it to all subscribers, a segment, a label or a handful of individuals.
| Counts towards your balance | Doesn't count |
|---|---|
| Campaigns you send, schedule or resend | Test emails to yourself |
| Emails sent by Wix Automations | App automations marked business transactional or business critical, such as order confirmations and password resets |
| Emails sent by the AI Custom Agent | Sharing a campaign that's already published |
On a free plan, the balance resets on the first day of each month. On a paid plan, it resets on the same date and time you bought the plan. Your email marketing dashboard shows a progress bar for the month and the reset date.
Building and sending a campaign
- Go to Email Marketing in your site's dashboard and pick a template, start from scratch, use AI or click Create Email and then Start with HTML.
- Design it in Email Builder or the newer Email Builder Plus, adding text, images, buttons, video, a logo and social links.
- Click Preview and Test to check mobile and desktop, and send yourself a test, which doesn't touch your balance.
- Click Next and choose recipients: all contacts, or a target group of subscribers, segments, labels or individual contacts.
- Add a subject line, preview text and sender details, then click Send Now or Schedule.
A few details save trouble. Test emails come from [email protected], go to one address at a time and don't show dynamic values or the unsubscribe link. Images resize to 700 pixels wide, and Wix suggests image files at least 750 px wide. Your logo, once added, appears on all future campaigns. The AI Email Builder can't do background images, the subscribe element or HTML elements. And the subscribe element you can drop into a campaign isn't the same as Wix Forms: it doesn't connect to Wix Automations, though anyone who fills it in is added to your contacts as a subscriber.
Choosing who gets it
Leave the Filter out inactive contacts toggle on. It skips anyone who hasn't engaged with your last 5 campaigns, and Wix recommends it because mailing inactive contacts can hurt deliverability and get you marked as spam. Wix also removes some people automatically and won't let you add them back: anyone who's unsubscribed, has no email address, shares an address with another contact, previously marked you as spam or has a typo in their address.
If you add new contacts after scheduling, they're not included. You'd edit the campaign, add them and reschedule.
Why your campaign is In Review or slow
Every campaign joins a queue and is checked against the Email Marketing terms of use before it's sent. That usually takes minutes but can take up to 3 hours. Big lists can take up to 24 hours to reach everyone. When you send to a new list, Wix may send in batches, and if enough bounce or are rejected, the rest aren't sent. If the system spots possible problems, it can slow delivery, which Wix calls throttling.
Which address your campaign really comes from
This is the one that confuses people. Free addresses such as Gmail, Yahoo or Outlook have a low delivery rate, so if one of those is your sender, Wix swaps it for an authenticated wixshoutout.com address. Replies still reach your reply-to address. If your sender's a business address on your own domain, campaigns go out from it, but only if that domain's connected to Wix by name servers. Connect it by pointing and you're back to a Wix address.
Authenticate your domain too. Without it, Gmail can show a Be careful with this message warning to recipients. Landing in Gmail's Promotions tab isn't a failure, by the way: it means the email was delivered and passed spam checks, and Wix can't push it into Primary.
Drip campaigns that follow each contact
A drip campaign is an automation that sends a series of emails over time and decides what comes next from how each contact responded. Click Build a Drip Campaign in the dashboard and you get templates with the trigger, emails, delays and branching conditions already set up, and the list depends on the apps on your site. Wix's example sends a welcome email, waits 3 days, then checks whether the contact's bought anything in the last 7 days. The conditions run on segments, so build those first, and check the preview, which shows the steps that count against your monthly balance.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
Resending, reusing and deleting
Around 24 hours after a send, a Resend icon appears so you can try again with the people who didn't open it, perhaps with a new subject line. That counts towards your balance too, though a scheduled resend only charges for the emails it sends. Published campaigns can be reused as a starting point. Deleting is permanent, and the online version and its links stop working even in old inboxes, so archive anything you might want later.
My verdict on Wix Email Marketing
I'd use it if your site and contacts already live on Wix, because segments and automations feed straight in and the free 200 emails a month is enough to start. I'd send from an address on my own domain connected by name servers, and I'd never schedule a campaign I'm not sure of, since that spends the balance there and then. Skip it once your list outgrows what you want to pay for here, and compare it with the free email marketing tools for small businesses before you upgrade.
A drip campaign is a small example of letting software do the follow-up for you. I run AI training and workshops for teams, and help businesses with AI enablement and workflow automation, so the busywork runs itself and people get time back. Most of that work is with SaaS marketing teams and small businesses. Here's how we can work together.
Frequently asked questions
How many emails can I send free with Wix Email Marketing?
200 emails a month on the free plan. One send is one email to one recipient, and the balance resets on the first day of each month.
Do test emails count towards my Wix balance?
No. Test emails, transactional app automations and sharing an already published campaign don't count.
Can I schedule a campaign on the free Wix Email Marketing plan?
No. Scheduling needs an email marketing plan, and scheduled emails count towards your balance as soon as you schedule them.
Why is my Wix campaign sent from a Wix address?
Because your sender address is on a free domain such as Gmail, or your domain is connected to Wix by pointing rather than name servers.
Can I restore a deleted Wix email campaign?
No. Deleting removes it permanently. Archive a campaign instead if you might need it again.
