Where to Get Free Weekly Planner Templates (2026): Printable PDFs and Digital Planners

The short version: for a free weekly planner template, go to Vertex42 or Canva if you want a page to print, and Asana, Notion or Visme if you want a digital planner. Asana, Notion and Visme each list a free plan. Vertex42 offers free weekly planner pages as PDFs, and Asana's weekly schedule is one you customise once and reuse every week. Decide paper or app first.

I'm a big believer in planning the week before it starts. It's the one habit that's saved me more hours than any app. The template you use matters less than whether you'll open it on Monday morning, so here's where to get a free weekly planner and how to pick one you'll stick with.

Weekly planners worth downloading

In no particular order:

  • Vertex42: best for free PDF pages and an Excel planner designed for letter-size ring binders.
  • Canva: best for a designed planner you download, save to your device or print out.
  • Asana: best for a digital weekly schedule where you plan tasks, set priorities and track progress.
  • Notion: best for a weekly task list, to-dos and habit tracking in one digital layout.
  • Visme: best for planners with sections for daily, weekly or monthly goals and priorities.

Paper or app is the real decision

Most people start by scrolling through designs. I'd start somewhere else: where will this plan live? Vertex42 built its weekly planner so you can print pages for letter-size 3-ring binders, and it offers free weekly planner pages as PDFs if you need something fast. It even points out that a student printing a semester's worth of weekly pages on both sides only needs about 8 sheets of paper. Asana goes the other way, with a digital weekly schedule you customise in the app and reuse every week. Canva sits in between: you design the planner, then download it, save it to your device or print it.

So the question isn't which template is nicest. It's whether you think better with a pen or with a screen. If you carry a notebook everywhere, print a page. If your week already runs from your laptop, keep the planner there too, so it's open next to everything else you do.

You don't have to choose forever, either. Plenty of people keep a digital planner for work tasks and print a single weekly page for the fridge or the desk. Visme's planners include sections for daily, weekly or monthly planning, so you can also pick the view that suits how far ahead you like to look.

Setting up your week in six steps

  1. Choose paper or digital, based on where you already spend your working day.
  2. Pick a source to match: Vertex42 or Canva for print, Asana, Notion or Visme for a digital planner.
  3. Add your fixed commitments first, such as meetings, school runs and appointments.
  4. List your three most important tasks for the week and give each one a day.
  5. Leave some white space. A planner with every hour filled is a plan to fall behind.
  6. Review it on Friday, move anything unfinished forward, and set up next week while you're there.

Small features that save time

A few details on these pages are easy to miss. Vertex42 says its spreadsheet version lets you record family and friends' birthdays, and when you change the date to print a new week, up to 3 holidays or events per day appear in the planner automatically. That's a lovely touch if your week mixes work and family.

Notion's weekly planner templates cover your task list, to-dos and habit tracking in one place, which suits anyone building a routine. Visme's planners include sections for daily, weekly or monthly planning to help you track goals and priorities. Canva's library goes beyond the working week, with meal planners, weekly workout planners, travel itineraries and project schedules, so you can keep the same look across all of them.

Making the planner part of your routine

A planner only works if it's part of a habit. If you're also keeping a running list, my guide on where to get free to-do list templates pairs well with a weekly page. For a digital setup, my roundup of the best calendar apps shows which ones sit nicely alongside a planner, and these time management tools help with the day-to-day. Whichever you choose, give the planner a fixed slot, like Friday afternoon or Monday at nine, so planning becomes a habit rather than something you remember on Wednesday.

The planner I'd start with

If you're not sure, start with a single printed page from Vertex42 or Canva for one week. You'll learn quickly whether you reach for it or forget it. If you forget it, move to Asana or Notion, where the plan sits in the same place as your tasks. The best weekly planner is the one you'll open every Monday.
