What Is Genspark? The AI Agent Workspace Explained (2026)

Genspark is an AI search engine, released in 2024 by MainFunc, that now presents itself as an all-in-one AI workspace with agents, slides, sheets, docs and more. The detail people miss: its answers come as shareable pages, and you should still check them yourself.

Genspark started life as an AI search engine and now describes itself as a whole AI workspace, which is exactly the sort of thing that leaves a busy business owner asking what it does. It's a fair question, because the product list has grown quickly.

Here's a plain explanation of Genspark: what it was built to do, what its website lists today, how its agents work in principle, and what I'd check before putting client work through it. I've used Wikipedia and Genspark's own site, and I've noted where I couldn't confirm things.

Where Genspark started

According to Wikipedia, Genspark is an AI search engine developed by MainFunc and released in 2024. Rather than giving you a list of links, it gathers information for your question and builds a page of summarised results.

Wikipedia calls those pages Sparkpages: they compile and summarise what the AI retrieves for a search, and they can be shared by URL and edited by users. That idea of an answer page you can tidy up and send on is still the heart of the product.

How Genspark describes itself today

The company's website presents it as an all-in-one AI workspace. Its menus group the tools into sections, and these are the ones I'd point a small business owner to:

Genspark sectionWhat the site lists
Office SuiteAI Slides, AI Sheets, AI Docs and GenMail
Content CreationAI Chat, AI Image, AI Video, AI Music and AI Audio
Build SuiteDesign and prototype, code, dashboards and CRM
ToolsAI Meeting Notes and a directory of agents

The site also shows apps for the App Store and Google Play. Names and product lists change quickly with tools like this, so treat the table as a snapshot of what the homepage shows and check the site for what's current.

Genspark's agents explained

The idea behind an AI agent is that you describe a goal and the software works through the steps. Wikipedia describes the Genspark Autopilot Agent as one that runs detailed searches from text prompts and works asynchronously. That means it can handle several search jobs at once, or keep going after you've closed the browser.

In practice, you might ask it to research a topic, compare options or produce a draft, then come back later to review the result. The key word is review: an agent saves you the digging, not the checking.

Turning a question into a dashboard

One example Genspark's homepage highlights is building a live dashboard. It says you can ask in plain English, and it will query your data, pick a chart and create a dashboard. It lists three benefits: no need for SQL, charts that refresh automatically, and sharing through a single link.

For a small business, that could mean asking questions of a spreadsheet of orders or enquiries without learning a query language. I'd still sanity-check the first few charts against numbers you already know.

Genspark compared with ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini

A chatbot like ChatGPT or Claude is mainly a conversation. Genspark leans towards producing finished work products, such as slides, sheets and documents, in one place. That can save switching between tools, but it also means more of your work lives inside one provider.

What I couldn't confirm about Genspark

The pages I read didn't give me details of how it handles your data, who the founders are, or what is included at no charge. Its footer links to a privacy page and terms, and those are the documents to read yourself before you upload anything sensitive. I'd rather say that plainly than guess.

Using Genspark in a small business

  1. Start with something public, such as researching competitors or a market, so no client data is involved.
  2. Ask for a first draft of a slide deck, then rewrite it so it sounds like you.
  3. Check every claim, name and statistic against the original source.
  4. Read Genspark's privacy and terms pages before uploading client files.
  5. Keep the work you care about saved somewhere you control.

If you'd like help working out which agent tools are worth your time, and how they fit with the way you already work, that's what I do as an AI consultant. My list of the best workflow automation tools for small business shows what else is out there.

Cautions with any AI workspace tool

  • AI output can be wrong or out of date, so review it before it reaches a client.
  • Don't paste passwords, secrets or API keys into any AI tool.
  • Be careful with personal data about customers, and follow your own privacy obligations.
  • Credit and check sources when an agent gathers research for you.
  • Keep a human decision-maker on anything that goes out under your name.
