TikTok's analytics dashboard now lives in TikTok Studio: on the app, go to your profile, tap the three lines, then TikTok Studio and Analytics. You need a Creator or Business account, and the most useful numbers are average watch time and traffic source.
TikTok's analytics dashboard moved, and a lot of guides online still describe the old layout. If you've been hunting for an Analytics tab that isn't where it used to be, here's where everything lives now, what each section tells you, and the few numbers worth checking every week.
First, the account type
TikTok only shows analytics to Creator and Business accounts, not personal ones. My walkthrough of TikTok account analytics gives the path: Profile, the three lines at the top right, Settings and Privacy, Account, then switch to a Business or Creator account. It takes about thirty seconds and it's free.
Where the dashboard is now
TikTok moved analytics into a hub called TikTok Studio.
- On the app: open your profile, tap the three lines at the top right, tap TikTok Studio, then tap Analytics.
- On desktop: open TikTok Studio in your browser, log in, and click Analytics in the left menu. The desktop version shows more detail and lets you export data, which the app doesn't.
At the top, pick your date range: 7 days, 28 days or 60 days. Sixty days is the maximum lookback, so if you want a record further back, export it regularly.
The tabs and what each one tells you
Overview
Headline numbers for the period: video views, profile views, likes, comments and shares. Good for a quick glance, not for working out why a video did or didn't work.
Content
Every video in the date range, with a search bar at the top. Type a word from a caption to pull up one video's numbers instead of scrolling. Tap into a video to see views, average watch time, total watch time and where the traffic came from: For You feed, your profile, search, sound page or other.
Followers
Total followers, growth over time, gender split, top locations and a chart of when your followers are online. That last chart is the quickest way to find your own posting window.
LIVE
Appears if you've gone live, with stats for your sessions.
The numbers that matter most
The analytics walkthrough makes the point that the numbers worth your attention aren't views, they're average watch time and traffic source. TikTok counts a view the moment a video starts playing, so views flatter everyone. Watch time tells you whether people stayed. Traffic source tells you whether TikTok pushed the video to new people through the For You feed.
My guide to going viral with a small following adds completion rate, rewatches and shares to messages as the signals TikTok weighs most heavily.
A weekly routine that takes ten minutes
- Open Analytics and set the range to the last 7 days.
- In Content, sort or scan for your best and worst video by watch time, not views.
- Open both and compare the first few seconds, the length and the traffic sources.
- Check the Followers tab for when your audience is online.
- Write down one change to test next week, such as a faster hook or a shorter cut.
A real example of reading the dashboard
The walkthrough includes an example worth knowing. A 47-second video picked up 1,200 views in its first hour, then stalled at 8,900. Searching for it in the Content tab showed an average watch time of 11 seconds, a completion rate of roughly 23%, with 71% of traffic from the For You feed. That pointed straight at the hook. Reshot with the payoff in the first sentence, the second version held viewers to 61% completion. Same topic, same length, very different result, because the dashboard showed the fixable problem.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
Don't drown in the numbers
You don't need to check every metric every day. Pick the two or three that answer your real question. If you want more reach, watch traffic source and completion. If you want more followers, watch profile views and follows from each video. If you sell something, watch link clicks and comments asking how to buy. Everything else is background.
If you're earning on TikTok
Creator Rewards has its own analytics inside Creator Tools, where you can compare estimated earnings against views per video. The TikTok money calculator helps you estimate what views and followers could be worth once you're in the programme.
Using the Followers tab well
Most people skip the Followers tab, and it's one of the most practical. The chart of when your followers are online shows your own best posting window, which is far more reliable than generic advice about the best day and time to post, because your audience's habits won't match a national average. The top locations list tells you whether you're reaching the people you want, which matters if you sell to a particular country or city.
Check it once a month rather than daily. Follower patterns change slowly, and a monthly look is enough to adjust your posting times and spot whether a new audience is arriving from a video that travelled further than usual.
Common problems
- No analytics at all: switch from a personal account to Creator or Business.
- Old Analytics tab missing: it now lives in TikTok Studio.
- Can't see data older than 60 days: export regularly from desktop.
- Numbers look low compared with views: check watch time and traffic source before worrying.
Frequently asked questions
Where is the TikTok analytics dashboard?
In TikTok Studio. On the app, go to your profile, tap the three lines, then TikTok Studio and Analytics. On desktop, open TikTok Studio and click Analytics.
Why can't I see TikTok analytics?
Analytics only appear on Creator and Business accounts. Switch in Settings and Privacy, then Account.
How far back can I see TikTok analytics?
Up to 60 days in the dashboard. Export data from desktop if you want a longer record.
Which TikTok analytics matter most?
Average watch time and traffic source tell you far more than views. Completion rate, rewatches and shares are also strong signals.
