Stripe Sigma is a reporting tool inside your Stripe Dashboard that lets you build custom reports on your Stripe data using SQL, prebuilt templates or an AI assistant that turns a plain question into a query. As of October 2026, plans start at $15 a month on monthly billing or $10 a month on an annual subscription, for up to 250 successful charges a month, and new users get a free 30-day trial.
Two details are easy to miss. The charges that size your plan include charges processed through third-party payment processors in connection with any Stripe service, not only card payments on Stripe. And Sigma's report templates return every currency by default, while the Dashboard's financial reports always filter to one, so the two can disagree until you narrow Sigma down.
What Sigma does inside your Dashboard
Stripe says Sigma lets you create custom reports and get insights faster on your Stripe data. In practice that means you can:
- Write SQL yourself, start from a prebuilt template or ask the built-in assistant in plain English.
- Turn results into charts.
- Share queries, publish custom reports to the Stripe Dashboard and schedule reports to land in email inboxes.
- Run SQL programmatically with the Query Run API, or connect an AI agent through MCP.
The questions Stripe uses as examples are the ones finance people ask every month: which charges reconcile with the latest bank payout, how many payments were made with each card brand, and how revenue splits by customer channel. It names finance teams closing the books faster, data teams tracking ARPU and churn, and product teams as the main users.
Stripe Sigma pricing tiers, as of October 2026
You pick a plan by your average monthly successful charges. These are the four bands on Stripe's Sigma pricing page, in US dollars. Above 25,000 charges, Stripe offers custom pricing.
| Monthly charges included | Plan price | Each extra charge |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 250 | $15 a month on the monthly plan, or $10 a month on an annual subscription | 6 cents monthly, 4 cents annual |
| Up to 2,500 | $60 a month, annual | 2.5 cents |
| Up to 10,000 | $225 a month, annual | 2.5 cents |
| Up to 25,000 | $450 a month, annual | 2 cents |
If you go over, annual subscribers pay the per-charge overage or can upgrade, and monthly subscribers pay an overage fee for each additional charge. Standard plans auto-renew unless you schedule a cancellation before the renewal date, so put that date in your diary when you sign up.
What counts as a charge for your Sigma plan
This is the line from Stripe's pricing page I'd want every buyer to read: the charges that size your plan include successful charges both on Stripe and through third-party payment processors in connection with any Stripe service. If you route some payments through another processor that's connected to a Stripe product, your count could be higher than the number you see on your payments page. Check it before you choose a band.
The currency and date traps in Sigma reports
- All currencies by default. Stripe's docs say Dashboard financial reports always filter to a single currency, but Sigma report templates return all currencies. Add a WHERE clause for one currency and the numbers will line up.
- Dates work differently. Sigma's date filters don't behave like the Dashboard's. Stripe's example: a Sigma template range of Jan 13 to Jan 14 covers Jan 13 from 00:00:00 to 23:59:59 only.
- Metadata isn't included. Your custom metadata won't appear in Sigma templates unless you use the metadata-to-column template.
Templates and limits worth knowing
Stripe's docs list templates for balance change from activity, payout reconciliation and ending balance reconciliation. The payout reconciliation reports need the Automatic payouts setting switched on, and the Connect versions need Stripe Connect. You can also create metrics from Sigma reports inside metric groups, up to 20 Sigma reports across all of them.
If you've got a data warehouse or cloud storage already, Stripe Data Pipeline is the bigger sibling. It syncs enriched datasets and prebuilt reports on a schedule to Snowflake, Google BigQuery, Databricks and others, and it includes Sigma. Both come with a free 30-day trial.

How to start a Sigma trial and run your first report
- In the Dashboard, go to Your plans and start the 30-day free trial.
- Open Sigma and pick a prebuilt template, or ask the assistant a plain-language question.
- Edit the SQL it gives you and run it.
- Add a WHERE clause for a single currency if your business takes more than one.
- Save the report, share it or schedule it by email.
If it isn't for you, cancel from Sigma settings with Cancel Stripe Sigma subscription. You keep access until the end of the billing cycle.
My verdict
Sigma is great value for a founder or finance lead who lives in Stripe data and either knows a bit of SQL or is happy to let the assistant draft it. Starting at $10 a month on annual billing, it's cheap enough to try on your next month-end. It won't see anything outside Stripe, though, so for a full picture of the business you'll still want one of the tools in my guides to financial reporting software, dashboard software or AI tools for data analysis.
