The main alternatives to Snyk are other application security tools that scan your own code (SAST), your open source dependencies (SCA), and your repos for leaked secrets and risky infrastructure code. Decide which of those jobs you're replacing first, because few tools are equally strong at all three. Ten options follow in no particular order.
Developer-first security made scanning part of every pull request, and most teams want the same thing from whatever replaces it. The usual reasons to look elsewhere are stronger code scanning, deeper open source and malware coverage, one platform for a small team, or security built into the place the code already lives.
This page answers one question: if you use Snyk today, what else fits? It isn't a ranking of every SAST or SCA tool. The ten options below are listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and every description comes from each vendor's own website, read as of Oct 2026.
Snyk alternatives by SAST, SCA and secrets coverage
I checked the free plan column on each vendor's own website, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the page names a free plan, a free version or an open source edition. Trial only means it names a time-limited free trial. Not stated means the page I read named neither, so check the vendor's own site before you sign up.

Ten application security tools to replace or sit beside Snyk
Aikido
Best for: Small teams wanting dependencies, SAST, secrets, cloud misconfiguration, containers and pentesting from one developer-focused suite.
Arnica
Best for: Teams wanting pipelineless security that plugs straight into source control, covering SAST, SCA, IaC and secrets with rules for AI coding.
Checkmarx
Best for: Enterprises wanting one correlated risk view across code, secrets, IaC, APIs and the supply chain, with ASPM on top.
Endor Labs
Best for: Securing AI coding agents, MCP servers and skills as well as code, open source dependencies, secrets and containers.
GitHub Advanced Security
Best for: GitHub users who want code scanning, secret protection and leak prevention built into every repository they already host there.
Mend
Best for: Teams securing both applications and AI behaviour, with SCA, SAST, reachability and AI red teaming in one platform.
Semgrep
Best for: Developers who want AI-assisted SAST, supply chain and secrets scanning, plus a newer tool that scans AI-generated code as it's written.
Socket
Best for: Blocking malicious and zero-day open source packages before install, with a firewall, CLI and GitHub app across major registries.
SonarQube
Best for: Code quality and security in one, self-managed or in the cloud, with a free IDE extension and advanced SAST and SCA.
Veracode
Best for: Organisations wanting SAST, DAST, SCA and container scanning together, plus secure coding training and AI code remediation.

Every AppSec vendor now says agentic, so check coverage instead
Here's what I found reading the vendor pages. Snyk's own title now reads Snyk AI Security Platform, and almost every rival has made the same move. Checkmarx calls itself an Agentic Application Security Testing platform, two others here use Agentic Application Security Platform, and Sonar's title leads with AI Code Review and Verification Tools.
The name no longer tells you what a product scans. So ignore the headline and check three things: does it scan your own code, does it scan your open source dependencies, and does it find secrets and infrastructure-as-code mistakes?
Code scanning, dependency scanning or one platform?
- SAST (your code). Finds flaws in code your team writes, ideally in the IDE and on every pull request, before it merges.
- SCA (open source). Finds known vulnerabilities and licence issues in the packages you pull in. Some tools now also block malicious packages before install, which plain CVE scanning misses.
- Secrets and IaC. Catches hardcoded keys and risky cloud configuration in templates before they reach production.
- One platform. Small teams often want all of it, plus containers and cloud checks, in one dashboard with one set of alerts.
How to run a fair Snyk replacement trial
- Scan the same three repos with each tool, including one with known issues.
- Count findings a developer would act on, not total findings. Noise is the main reason teams switch.
- Check reachability: does it tell you whether the vulnerable code is called at all?
- Test the fix path. Does it open a pull request or suggest a fix in the IDE?
- Check where it runs: CI, the IDE, the repo itself or all three.
Your API layer needs its own tests on top of code scanning. My guide to API testing tools covers that side, and templates for cloud resources are covered in my roundup of infrastructure as code tools.

My plain advice on replacing Snyk
Name the job first. If code scanning is the weak spot, trial the SAST-led tools. If supply chain attacks worry you most, trial the ones that block malicious packages. If you're a small team drowning in tools, trial a single platform and see how much noise it cuts.
And keep both running for a sprint before you switch the old one off. You'll see quickly which tool your developers ignore.

Frequently asked questions
Why do teams look for Snyk alternatives?
Usually to get stronger coverage in one area, such as code scanning or malicious package blocking, to cut alert noise, or to bring security closer to where the code already lives.
What's the difference between SAST and SCA?
SAST scans the code your team writes for security flaws. SCA scans the open source packages you depend on for known vulnerabilities, licence problems and, in some tools, malware.
Is there a free Snyk alternative?
One tool here names a free IDE extension and one names a free trial, shown in the free plan column. Several others offer a free start, so check each vendor's own site.
Do I need a separate secrets scanner?
Not if your main tool covers secrets well. Many platforms on this list include secrets detection, so test it with a planted dummy key before buying anything extra.
Can these tools scan AI-generated code?
Yes. Most vendors here now position their scanners for AI-generated code and AI coding agents, checking code as it's written as well as on each pull request.
