Robux to Dollars in 2026: The 3 Roblox DevEx Rates and What You Can Cash Out

Roblox only turns Robux into real money through its Developer Exchange (DevEx), and only Earned Robux count: the standard rate is 0.0038 per Earned Robux, so 30,000 Earned Robux, the minimum cash-out, comes to $114 as of November 2026. Robux you buy, redeem from a gift card or get from a Roblox subscription can't be cashed out at all.

That's the honest answer, and it surprises a lot of parents. There isn't one exchange rate that works on any Robux balance. There are three DevEx rates, each tied to how and when the Robux were earned, and a big share of the Robux sitting in most accounts isn't worth anything in cash. Everything below comes from Roblox's Creator Hub documentation, read on 2 November 2026.

Buying Robux and cashing out are two different directions

Buying Robux and cashing them out run in opposite directions, at different values, and this page only deals with cashing out. I'm not going to quote what Robux cost in the shop, because that's a separate question with a separate answer.

Playing is free, as I explain in my guide to whether Roblox is free, and Robux are mostly something people spend. The one official way back to money is DevEx. Roblox lists trying to exchange Robux for real money any other way as a reason to reject a DevEx request, so every website promising to swap Robux for cash is one to walk away from. If you're after Robux without paying, read my guide to free Robux instead.

The three DevEx rates side by side

RatePer Earned RobuxWhat it applies toFor 30,000 Earned Robux
Standard0.0038Earned Robux from 10am PT on 5 September 2025 onwards$114
Old standard0.0035Earned Robux balances from before 10am PT on 5 September 2025$105
U.S. 18+0.0054Earned Robux in eligible games from developer products, passes, subscriptions and private servers bought by U.S. players verified as 18 or overDepends on how much of your balance qualifies

A few things the table can't show. If you've still got Earned Robux from before the September 2025 change, Roblox pulls those out first at the old rate, so your first cash-out after that date may be worth a little less than you expected. Roblox also says the exchange rate is subject to change.

The U.S. 18+ rate is the higher one, but it only covers some of your Earned Robux. The buyer has to be in the U.S. and verified as at least 18 through facial age estimation or a government ID, which I've covered in how Roblox age checks work. Everything else in your balance stays at the standard rate, so I won't put a single dollar figure on it.

Which Robux are worth nothing in cash

This is where most hopes come unstuck. Roblox's DevEx page says these are not Earned Robux and can't be exchanged:

  • Robux bought directly
  • The monthly Robux grant that comes with a Roblox subscription
  • Robux from trading or reselling items
  • Robux received through transfers
  • Robux from redeeming a gift card

So if your child has saved up a balance from birthday gift cards, it's worth nothing through DevEx, however big it looks. What does count is money creators earn from their own work: sales of developer products, passes, subscriptions, private servers and paid access, Creator Store models and plugins, Marketplace avatar items, and Creator Rewards for daily engagement. If that sounds like the route you want, start with making your first Roblox game.

Who's allowed to cash out

Roblox's eligibility list is short but strict. You need to be at least 13 years old, have at least 30,000 Earned Robux, a verified email address, a DevEx portal account, an IRS W-9 (U.S.) or W-8 (outside the U.S.) on file, and an account in good standing. DevEx pays in real-world local currency, which matters if you're in the UK, Canada or Australia.

Roblox says it can't guarantee you're eligible before you submit, because every request gets reviewed. The DevEx Dashboard gives you an estimate of your Earned Robux, but Roblox calls it an estimate that isn't a guarantee of payout.

How a cash-out request runs, step by step

  1. Open the DevEx Dashboard and look at your estimated Earned Robux. You'll need at least 30,000.
  2. Submit your DevEx request. Roblox can't cancel it once it's in, and the Robux leave your balance while it's reviewed.
  3. If it's your first time and you're approved, you'll get an email with a link to the DevEx Portal. You've got one week to add a payment method and tax form, or the request is declined and the Robux go back.
  4. Wait. Roblox says to allow around 10 business days the first time and around 5 business days after that. Weekends and holidays don't count.
  5. Plan the next one. You can have one completed DevEx request per calendar month.

If a request is rejected, the Robux come back to your balance straight away, so you haven't lost them.

What changed for DevEx tax on 1 November 2026

From 1 November 2026, DevEx payments are classified as royalties under Roblox's updated Terms of Use. Roblox's tax page asks creators to keep their tax information up to date on the Taxes page in Creator Hub, under Finances, which is now where your W-9 or W-8 lives.

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

For U.S. creators, 24% backup withholding applies if Roblox can't validate your tax ID or required tax information is missing. For creators outside the U.S. who gave valid tax information by 31 October 2026, 0% to 30% U.S. withholding applies to DevEx payments tied to sales to U.S. players, depending on your country and whether you claim a tax treaty. U.S. creators get Form 1099-NEC for payments before 1 November 2026 and Form 1099-MISC after it, so you may get both for the 2026 tax year.

That's Roblox's process, not tax advice. Roblox's tax page is the place to read the detail, and a tax adviser is the right person for your own situation.

Why a DevEx request gets turned down

  • You didn't finish registering in the DevEx Portal within a week
  • No tax form or payment method on file
  • Not enough Earned Robux once Roblox reviews your balance
  • Breaking the rules, such as scamming, account theft or trying to exchange Robux for real money another way

Roblox also says an earlier approval isn't a promise that the next request will be approved, because each one is reviewed on its own.

My verdict

I'd open the DevEx Dashboard before doing any maths, because it shows how much of your balance Roblox treats as earned, and that's the only part with a cash value. I'd skip any site that promises Robux to cash, and I'd sort the tax form in Creator Hub before the first request so the one-week window doesn't catch you out. If your Robux were bought or gifted, it's kinder to say so plainly now: they're for spending in Roblox, not for cashing out.

Frequently asked questions

How much is 30,000 Robux in dollars?

If they're Earned Robux, 30,000 comes to $114 at the standard DevEx rate of 0.0038, as of November 2026. Earned Robux from before 10am PT on 5 September 2025 cash out at the old 0.0035 rate, which Roblox puts at $105 for 30,000. Bought Robux can't be cashed out at all.

How much is 1000 Robux in dollars?

On its own, nothing in cash. DevEx won't let you cash out until you've got at least 30,000 Earned Robux, and if those 1000 were bought, gifted or redeemed from a gift card, they'll never count towards that total.

Can I cash out Robux I bought?

No. Roblox's DevEx page says Robux from direct purchases, monthly subscription grants, gift card redemption, transfers and item trading or resale aren't Earned Robux, and only Earned Robux can be exchanged.

How often can I cash out Robux?

Once per calendar month. Roblox's own example: if you were paid for a request in January, the next time you can submit one is February.

How long does a DevEx payout take?

Roblox says to allow around 10 business days for a first request and around 5 business days if you've cashed out before. Weekends and holidays don't count.

Does DevEx pay out in pounds or other currencies?

Roblox describes DevEx as exchanging Earned Robux for real-world local currency. The rates on its page are quoted against the dollar, so check what your payment method shows before you rely on a figure in pounds or any other currency.
