Pakistani creators can take Patreon earnings into a Pakistani bank account. Patreon's payout guide lists Pakistan for a bank transfer that pays out in rupees, while its PayPal article doesn't name Pakistan at all. The catch is the conversion: it costs 0.25 US dollars plus 1.55% per payout, and your bank may ask for paperwork.
Pakistani creators ask me about Patreon more than you'd think, and the question is nearly always the same: if fans pay in dollars, how do rupees end up in my account? I've read Patreon's help pages for the answer. The short version is that Pakistan gets a real local bank route, but the PayPal shortcut many people assume isn't on Patreon's list.
Pakistan is on Patreon's rupee bank transfer list
Patreon's payout guide for creators outside the US has a table of countries where it can send money from a US dollar balance to a local bank account in local currency. Pakistan is in that table with the currency shown as PKR. That is the route most Pakistani creators will use, and Patreon says it only needs your bank details, such as the account number and the name on the account, to register.
Patreon also says special characters in names aren't supported, so type the bank information using letters and numbers only. If your account title has punctuation in it, that's the first thing I'd check before you blame the bank.
Where the rupees come from: the dollar-to-rupee step
Your Patreon balance builds up in US dollars. When you withdraw, Patreon converts it and sends rupees to your bank, taking a charge of 0.25 US dollars plus 1.55% on that payout. The minimum payout is 10 US dollars. Patreon says it doesn't add another currency conversion fee on top.
It also warns that exchange rates move through the day, so the rate applied can differ slightly depending on when the withdrawal is processed in the hours after you press the button. If you're planning around an exact rupee figure, expect small differences.
PayPal isn't named for Pakistan, so don't build on it
Patreon keeps a separate article listing the countries where creators can be paid through PayPal. The Asia Pacific section names India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore among others. Pakistan doesn't appear in it. The article also says its list may differ from PayPal's own, so I wouldn't treat it as the last word, but it's reason enough not to plan your whole income around PayPal.
I've written separately about PayPal's position in Pakistan, and it's worth a read before you open anything. Patreon does say PayPal and Payoneer Wallet are available payout options in every country on its bank transfer list. Those routes carry their own costs: PayPal payouts in US dollars cost 1% of the amount, minimum 0.25 US dollars, capped at 20 US dollars, and Payoneer Wallet costs 1.00 US dollars per payout with a 25 US dollar minimum.
The bank side: electronic proceeds certificates in Pakistan
Pakistani banks have their own paperwork for money that arrives from abroad. The State Bank of Pakistan's FE Circular No. 05 of 2022 says authorised dealers, which means banks, may issue an electronic Proceeds Realization Certificate, called an ePRC, when funds received from abroad through them are realised. It asked banks to have digital issuance and verification in place by August 29, 2022.
A later circular letter from the State Bank changed the formats banks use for the ePRC and the statement of certificates, and told banks to use the new formats from 2025. I'm mentioning this because many Pakistani freelancers and creators keep these certificates as proof of where income came from. Whether you need one, and how your bank issues it, is a question for your bank and a local accountant, not for me.
W-8BEN and the Pakistan line in the US treaty list
Patreon says every creator who isn't a US citizen must submit a W-8BEN, or a W-8BEN-E for a company, before they can pay out. You'll find it under Settings, then Payouts and Taxes, in the Tax settings section. The IRS list of United States income tax treaties includes Pakistan, which is the list Patreon points people to when the form asks about treaty benefits.
Whether a treaty claim helps you depends on your situation, and I'm not a tax adviser. Ask a Pakistani accountant how this income is treated at home before you file anything.

Dollars from fans, and why you'll probably price in dollars
Patreon's processing table for a US dollar payout currency shows 2.9% plus 0.30 US dollars for a member paying by card or Apple Pay. A non-US member paying with PayPal is charged 3.9% plus 0.30 US dollars. The separate table for other payout currencies lists EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, DKK, NOK, SEK, CZK, HKD, HUF, NZD, PLN and SGD, and doesn't include PKR.
In plain terms, tiers are priced in dollars for Pakistani creators. Patreon adds that a 2.5% conversion fee applies to member payments when your payout currency differs from what the member pays in, and a US dollar payout currency avoids that for fans paying in dollars. If you want to compare other ways of getting paid by overseas clients, Wise in Pakistan covers one alternative.
| What I checked | What Patreon says for Pakistan |
|---|---|
| Bank transfer | Listed, with PKR as the local currency |
| PayPal supported list | Pakistan isn't named |
| Conversion cost | 0.25 US dollars plus 1.55% per payout |
| Minimum payout | 10 US dollars for bank transfer |
| Tax on fan payments | No Pakistan line in the VAT table |
| Tax form | W-8BEN for non-US creators |
Timing: holds, payout days and the 24-hour rule
The first time you add a payout method, or later change your payout details, Patreon places a 5-day hold on your account. Once a payout starts it typically takes 1-5 days to reach you, and you can only start one payout every 24 hours. For most creators paying out by direct bank transfer there's no payout limit, though a very large withdrawal may be sent in parts, with the rest left in your balance for the next payout.
So add your bank details early, before you need the money. I'd also compare fees against the full set of Patreon creator fees so the rupees you receive don't surprise you.
