As of October 2026, MLB.TV costs $29.99 as a one time purchase for the current Postseason package, and MLB+ costs $59.99 a year or $5.99 a month. For the regular season, MLB.TV seasonal plans renew at the full season price, which ESPN's offer terms list as $149.99 a season.
The MLB.TV price you see depends on when you look. In late October the regular season is over, so MLB.com is selling a Postseason package rather than the full season plan most fans know. Here's what each package costs right now, what it includes, and the blackout rules that catch people out.
MLB.TV prices right now
| Package | Price | Billing | What it includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| MLB.TV (Postseason package) | $29.99 | One time | Select Postseason games live in the US with Pay TV authentication; expires around March 23, 2027 |
| MLB+ yearly | $59.99 | Yearly | MLB Network 24/7 (US only) and live audio of every Postseason game |
| MLB+ monthly | $5.99 | Monthly | The same MLB+ access, billed twelve months a year |
| MLB.TV full season | $149.99 | Each season | The current full season renewal price quoted in ESPN's MLB.TV offer terms |
MLB.com is clear that the $29.99 Postseason package won't renew automatically. MLB+ does: the yearly plan renews around the anniversary of when you signed up, and the monthly plan renews every month.
The Postseason package catch
Read this before you buy the $29.99 package in the US. MLB.com says Postseason games are available live in the US only with authentication through a participating Pay TV provider. Postseason games broadcast by TBS, FOX and FS1 can be watched that way. So if you've cut the cord completely, the package won't give you live US Postseason games on its own.
Outside the US it's different. MLB.com says live Postseason games are available internationally, excluding Canada, with no authentication required. The same $29.99 package also runs until around March 23, 2027, so it covers the off season too.
What MLB+ adds
MLB+ is the smaller subscription. It streams MLB Network 24/7 in the US and lets you listen to every Postseason game live. MLB.com also says MLB+ is included with all MLB.TV subscriptions, and it gives you live audio of games that are unavailable to watch on MLB.TV. If you're happy to listen rather than watch, MLB+ at $5.99 a month is the cheapest way to follow the end of the season.
The full season price and the ESPN free month
When the new season starts, MLB.TV goes back to its full season plans. ESPN's terms for its joint offer state that MLB.TV seasonal plans renew each season at the then current full season price, which they give as $149.99 a season.
There's a bonus for new buyers. ESPN says new subscribers who purchase MLB.TV get a 1 month free trial of ESPN Unlimited, which then renews at $31.99 a month. You don't need to keep ESPN Unlimited to keep MLB.TV, so set a reminder if you only want the free month.
Blackout rules to know before you pay
- Home television territory blackouts apply whether your local club is home or away, and whether or not the game is on TV in your area.
- Clubs based in the US may have home television territory blackouts that extend outside the US.
- Some regular season, special event and Postseason games aren't available on MLB.TV at all, at home or abroad, because of Major League Baseball exclusivities.
- On demand archives of games are available 90 minutes after each game ends.
MLB.com has a zip code checker on the packages page so you can see your blackout restrictions before you buy. Use it, because blackouts decide which games you can watch live.
Who the $29.99 package suits best
The Postseason package is a strong deal in one situation: you live outside the US and Canada. There, MLB.com says live Postseason games need no authentication, and the package keeps running until spring. In the US it's mainly useful if you already have a Pay TV login and want to stream on more screens. If you don't, you're mostly paying for on demand archives and the MLB+ access included with it.
How to choose an MLB.TV package
- If you want to watch live US Postseason games, check you can sign in with a participating Pay TV provider first.
- If you only want commentary and MLB Network, choose MLB+ monthly at $5.99 and cancel when you're done.
- If you're outside the US and Canada, the $29.99 package gives you live Postseason games without authentication.
- For next season, enter your zip code on MLB.com to check blackouts before you buy a full season plan.
- If you buy MLB.TV new, claim the free month of ESPN Unlimited and decide before it renews.
If you follow other sports too, compare the cost of a live TV service: the YouTube TV plans and the guide to watching sports on YouTube TV show what a cable replacement includes.

My verdict
Right now, most US fans should skip the $29.99 Postseason package unless they already have a Pay TV login, because without one it won't show live US Postseason games. MLB+ at $5.99 a month is the better buy for the end of the season. Save the full season plan for spring, and check your blackouts with your zip code before you pay a cent.
