Is TickTick Free? Yes, With 9 Lists and 99 Tasks Each

Yes, TickTick is free. Its free plan gives you 9 lists with up to 99 tasks per list, list and Kanban views, natural language input, task reminders and sync across platforms. TickTick Premium raises that to 299 lists and 999 tasks per list, and adds calendar views, task duration and email reminders.

TickTick is a to-do app that business owners often move to when they want calendar views and reminders in the same place. The free plan is generous for one person. Here's exactly what TickTick's own upgrade page lists, as of October 2026, so you can tell whether you'll ever need to pay.

TickTick shows Premium as an annual plan for US$49.99, which it says works out at less than US$4.17 a month, as of October 2026. Its upgrade page sums up Premium as all platforms, multiple calendar views and ten times the capacity.

The free limit you'll notice first

For most people it's the 9 lists. If you like one list per client or project, you'll hit it quickly. The 99 tasks per list is less of a problem for one person, as long as you complete or delete old tasks. I'd plan your lists around areas, such as Work, Clients, Marketing, Admin, Home and Errands, and keep the detail inside each list.

Notably, reminders are included free. That's a real difference from some rivals where timed reminders are a paid feature, and it's often the reason people pick TickTick in the first place. If you're comparing the two big names, see my Todoist vs TickTick comparison.

What happens if your Premium ends

This is reassuring. TickTick's FAQ says that after your Premium subscription expires, all your data is fully retained. You can keep using TickTick as a free user, but the Premium features stop working. So there's no risk of losing tasks if you try Premium and decide it isn't for you.

Refunds and cancelling

TickTick's FAQ is clear on how this works, and it depends on how you paid:

  • Bought via Google Play, PayPal or Stripe: you can request a refund within 14 days of purchase. After 14 days, refunds aren't available.
  • Bought via the Apple App Store: contact Apple Support for a refund.
  • To cancel a Google Play, Stripe or PayPal subscription, use the TickTick web app.
  • To cancel an Apple App Store subscription, use your Apple account settings.

My tip: if you're unsure about Premium, buy it through the web rather than the app store, so the 14-day refund rule from TickTick applies and you can sort it out in one place.

Who TickTick's free plan suits

If most of your rows land in the free column, don't pay yet. The free plan is a complete to-do app, not a trial in disguise.

How to get the most from TickTick for free

  1. Create your account and install TickTick on your phone and computer so sync works everywhere.
  2. Set up no more than 9 lists, organised by area of work and life.
  3. Use natural language when adding tasks, such as "send invoice Friday 10am", so TickTick picks up the date for you.
  4. Use the Kanban view for projects with stages, like content you're drafting, editing and publishing.
  5. Complete or delete finished tasks each week so no list gets near the 99 limit.

Is the TickTick free plan enough for work?

For a solo business owner, often yes. The free plan covers the essentials of a working to-do list: reminders, sync and two useful views. Where people feel the pull to Premium is calendar planning. If you like to see tasks laid out across your week next to your time blocks, the multiple calendar views and task duration are the Premium features you'll use every day.

My verdict

TickTick is free, and its free plan is one of the more generous ones because reminders are included. You'll pay only if you outgrow 9 lists or want calendar views and time-blocking. At US$49.99 a year as of October 2026, Premium is easy to test, and if you stop paying, your data stays put. Start free, and upgrade the day the list limit gets in your way.
