Rewarded Play is a real game rewards app run by Influence Mobile, a mobile gaming company, and its FAQ says you earn points by playing games and redeem them for gift cards. The catch is that it's funded by game developers who want players, so the work is installing and playing their games, and at least one look-alike listing uses a similar name.
Game-for-rewards apps are everywhere, and the names are so similar that it's hard to know which one you're even being asked about. Rewarded Play is one of the busiest searches in this corner, so I looked at what the company publishes, what the store listings say, and where the confusion creeps in.
Who is behind Rewarded Play
The Rewarded Play website says it's operated by Influence Mobile, a 14-year-old mobile gaming company. The Google Play listing names Influence Mobile, Inc. as the developer, so the two line up. That's a good start, because plenty of reward apps hide behind a nameless developer account.
The website describes a free mobile app with 150+ games where players earn points and redeem them for gift cards from Amazon, Target, Walmart, Sephora and 40+ more brands.
Why a gaming app hands out rewards
This is the bit most reviews skip. Influence Mobile's own page says game developers fund the rewards because they're paying to find players like you. In plain terms, a studio wants new people to try its game, and a share of what it pays to reach you comes back as points.
The page says you install a featured game from the offer wall, then earn points by hitting milestones, levels or spending events in that game. Those points convert to Amazon gift cards, Visa prepaid cards and other brands. It's an honest enough model, and it also explains the catch: points follow what the game developer wants you to do, not what's easiest.
What the Rewarded Play FAQ tells you
Rewarded Play's FAQ says you earn points by playing games inside the app, through level completions, gameplay time and in-app milestones, and that different games earn at different rates. It also says no purchase is ever required and that the app never asks for payment information.
On timing, the FAQ says most gift cards are delivered within 1-2 business days, and that first-time redemptions include a quick identity verification. It adds that most players earn their first 5 dollar gift card in about 48 hours of normal play. Treat that as the company's own estimate. It depends on which games you play and how far you get.
Who can use Rewarded Play
The FAQ lists the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, on both iOS and Android. I couldn't find an age limit, a minimum redemption amount or a points expiry rule in the pages I read, so I won't state one. Check the terms inside the app before you start.

What to watch for with Rewarded Play
- Spending inside games. Some milestones are spending events. The FAQ says no purchase is ever required in Rewarded Play, but the Google Play listing mentions in-app purchases, so be careful not to spend more than the reward is worth.
- Ads. The Google Play listing says the app contains ads, and its description mentions rewarded videos.
- Your data. The data safety section says the developer declares no data shared with third parties and that you can request deletion. It's still worth reading the privacy policy yourself.
- Time versus value. A reward for hitting level goals in a game can take hours of real attention. I haven't seen the app publish an hourly rate, so work out your own before you commit.
- Identity checks. First-time redemptions include a quick identity verification, so don't be surprised when it asks.
If you collect rewards regularly, an accountant can tell you whether they count as income for you. My piece on side hustle tax covers the basics.

Look-alike apps with a similar name
This one matters. An App Store listing titled "Rewarded Play: Earn Gift Cards" names an individual as seller and developer, not Influence Mobile, so it isn't the same publisher as the Google Play app. I can't say anything about how that listing behaves, but it shows why you should always check the developer name before you install.
Be wary of any message or ad that promises big cash for playing, asks for a deposit, or wants a card number to release your points. The FAQ is clear that the app never asks for payment information.
Is Rewarded Play worth your time
If you already play mobile games and don't mind trying new ones, it's a low-risk way to pick up gift cards. If you want income, it's the wrong tool, because you're being paid for attention that studios want.
