Is Restream Free? Free Plan Channels, Branding and Recording

Yes, Restream has a free plan. Restream's Free plan lets you stream on 2 channels at once, with Restream branding on your stream, up to 6 on-screen participants, and recordings of up to 6 hours per stream kept for 15 days. Removing the branding and adding more channels needs an upgraded plan.

Restream is a live streaming tool that sends one stream to several platforms at the same time, so you can go live on YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook or Twitch without running separate broadcasts. It also has a browser studio for interviews and panel shows. The free plan is a good way to try multistreaming, and the limits are clear once you know where to look. Here's what Restream's plans page says.

What Restream's Free plan includes

FeatureFree plan
Channels at once2
Restream brandingShown on your stream
On-screen participantsUp to 6
Recording lengthUp to 6 hours recorded per stream
Recording storage15 days
Guest channelsNot included (from the Standard plan)

Two channels at once covers the most common setup for a small business: YouTube plus LinkedIn, or Facebook plus YouTube. That alone saves you from choosing one audience over another every time you go live.

The catch: branding and 15-day storage

The two limits that matter most on free are visible ones:

  • Restream branding. Free streams carry Restream's branding, and Restream lists removing its watermark as an upgraded feature. For a casual stream that's fine; for a client webinar or a launch, it can look less polished.
  • Recordings disappear after 15 days. Your stream recordings are stored for 15 days on free, so download anything you want to keep, such as a replay to edit into clips, well before then.

What upgrading adds

Restream's plans page lists these features across its plans. They're the ones creators and businesses ask about most, so check which plan includes each before you upgrade:

  • More channels at once, to reach more platforms in one go.
  • No Restream branding on your stream.
  • Guest channels, which let guests add their own channels to your event and bring their audience.
  • Horizontal and vertical at the same time, for example horizontal to YouTube and vertical to TikTok.
  • Custom RTMP and SRT destinations, for platforms that take a stream URL and key.
  • Transcripts of recordings and videos in 39 languages.
  • Automatic clips that turn streams into short, TikTok-ready videos.

How to go live on two platforms for free

  1. Create a free Restream account.
  2. Connect your two channels, such as your YouTube channel and LinkedIn profile or page.
  3. Open Restream Studio in your browser, and set up your camera, microphone and layout.
  4. Invite guests if you're running an interview; up to 6 people can be on screen.
  5. Go live, then download the recording within 15 days.

If you're comparing studios, my comparison of StreamYard and Restream covers the browser studio side by side, and I've also rounded up the main Restream alternatives.

Using the free plan well

  • Pick the two platforms where your audience lives. For B2B, LinkedIn plus YouTube is a common pair.
  • Set a reminder to download recordings. Fifteen days goes quickly when you stream weekly.
  • Repurpose every stream. Cut the replay into short clips for social media after you download it.
  • Keep streams under 6 hours. That's the recording limit per stream on free, which suits almost every webinar or show.

Who the free plan suits

It suits creators and small businesses trying live video for the first time, coaches running a weekly Q and A, and anyone who wants to test whether multistreaming brings more viewers than going live on one platform. Upgrade when you want a branding-free stream for client-facing events, need more than two platforms, or want guests to bring their own audiences.

A good test before upgrading: run four free streams to two platforms and compare where your live viewers and comments come from. If one platform clearly wins, you may not need more channels at all; you may just need a cleaner, branding-free stream on the two that work.

Restream free for interviews and podcasts

The browser studio is where the free plan shines for creators. With up to 6 people on screen, you can run a live interview, a panel with three guests or a weekly show with a co-host, and send it to two platforms at once. Your guests join from a link in their browser, so there's nothing for them to install.

After the stream, download the recording and you've got raw material for a podcast episode, a YouTube replay and a handful of short clips. Just remember the 15-day window, and keep your own copy of every recording somewhere permanent.

Common free plan mistakes

  • Forgetting the branding. If a partner brand or client is on the stream, check whether the Restream branding is acceptable before you go live.
  • Connecting the wrong account. Make sure you've linked your business page, not your personal profile, before a public stream.
  • Leaving recordings too long. After 15 days they're gone, so download them in the same week.
  • Skipping a test stream. A short private test checks your sound and layout before a real audience sees it.

If your streams grow, it's worth knowing that Restream also offers guest channels on its Standard plan, so a co-host can bring their own audience to the same broadcast.

My verdict

Restream is free, and the free plan is enough to multistream to two platforms with guests on screen. The limits you'll notice are the Restream branding and the 15-day recording storage. Download every recording promptly, use the replays for content, and upgrade when the branding or the two-channel limit starts holding back events that matter to your business.
