Is Perfumania Legit? Returns Rules, Shipping and Fake Deals (2026)

Yes, Perfumania is a legit retailer: its own About page says it sells authentic designer fragrances and runs over one hundred discount stores across the United States. The catches are strict returns, no refunds on cosmetics, hair care or skincare, no international shipping, and lookalike sites pushing too-good-to-be-true perfume deals.

Cheap designer perfume is exactly what scam sites love to advertise, so I understand why people stop and ask this before buying. I've read Perfumania's About, refund and shipping pages, and here's what they say, plus what I'd double-check before paying.

What Perfumania is and who it sells to

According to Perfumania's About Us page, the company specialises in selling authentic designer fragrances and related gifts and accessories for men, women and children. It says it operates over one hundred discount retail stores throughout the United States, which makes it a high-street style retailer with a website, not a website pretending to be a shop.

I couldn't confirm who owns it from the pages I could read, so I won't guess. What matters for a buyer is that it publishes a customer service phone number and email address, and that its policies are written down in plain view.

How the Perfumania refund policy works

This is the page to read first. Perfumania's refund policy says that unopened and unused merchandise in its original condition can be returned within 30 days for a full refund. If you've sprayed it or opened the box to try it, you shouldn't expect your money back.

The policy also says that, for health reasons, it doesn't offer refunds on cosmetics, hair care and skincare items. That's worth remembering if you're adding a skincare set to a fragrance order.

Two practical points from the same page: you need to email or call customer service before you post anything back, and returns may only be sent to its warehouse, because online returns aren't accepted at its retail stores. So don't carry an online order into a shop and expect a swap.

Shipping costs and delivery times

Its shipping page lists standard delivery as free over 59 dollars, or 7.50 dollars under 59 dollars, arriving in 3 to 5 business days within the 48 contiguous states. Alaska and Hawaii cost more and take longer. There's also an Express 2-Day option at 14.99 dollars on select items, which isn't available to PO boxes.

One line catches overseas shoppers out: the page says Perfumania doesn't ship internationally. If you're outside the United States, an order from this site isn't going to arrive, and any site claiming to be Perfumania that offers worldwide delivery deserves suspicion.

What I checkedWhat Perfumania's own pages say
What does it sell?Authentic designer fragrances, plus gifts and accessories
Does it have physical stores?Yes, over one hundred discount stores across the United States
How long is the return window?30 days, for unopened and unused items
Are cosmetics, hair care and skincare refundable? No, for health reasons
Does it ship internationally?No
Can I return an online order in a shop? No, returns go to its warehouse

Cancelling an order or reporting a damaged parcel

Its shipping page says it can't cancel or change orders once they've been placed, so check the address and the items before you pay. If your parcel arrives damaged, report it to customer service within 7 days of receipt, and keep the damaged item until the claim has been dealt with. If you throw it away, the page says it won't be able to honour the claim.

Order tracking and customer service

Once an order ships, the shipping page says you get an email confirmation with a tracking number and instructions for following it online. If something looks wrong, the company lists a customer service phone number and email address on its pages, and says that lines are staffed on weekdays during office hours.

That sounds basic, but it matters. When a shop only offers a contact form, or a chat bot that never hands you to a person, a dispute becomes much harder. Having both a phone line and an email address gives you a paper trail, so write down the date, the person you spoke to and what they promised.

The catch with Perfumania

Nothing here is hidden, but a few terms are stricter than shoppers expect. Opened perfume can't come back, shipping charges are non-refundable, even when a carrier is late, and discounts are often tied to specific items or online-only offers. Always read the small print on an offer before you rely on it.

Another thing: a discount fragrance retailer is not the brand's own boutique. Perfumania describes what it sells as authentic, but if authenticity matters to you, compare the batch code and packaging against the brand's own guidance when your parcel arrives.

Fake Perfumania sites and sales messages

Big discount names get copied. Look out for adverts promising most of a designer range at a tiny fraction of the usual price, sites that only accept bank transfer, and text messages claiming a delivery problem. Before you pay:

  1. Type the Perfumania address yourself instead of following an advert.
  2. Check the policies exist and match what I've described, such as the 30-day return window.
  3. Pay only at the official checkout, never by transfer to an individual.
  4. Be wary of any site that claims to deliver overseas, since the real one says it doesn't.

Reviews can mislead as well. My guide to spotting a fake product review is a good place to start, and this look at review sites for shoppers explains what each source can and can't tell you.

Verdict: should you trust Perfumania

It's a real retailer with physical stores and clear written policies, so I wouldn't call it a scam. Its online terms are easy to find. Treat the refund rules as the main thing to read, buy only from the official site, and keep your order confirmation until the parcel has arrived and you're happy with what's inside.
