Yes, LALAL.AI has a free plan called Starter, which its pricing page labels "Always free". LALAL.AI says Starter is best for testing the service and checking output quality; for regular use you'll need Lite or Pro, which as of October 2026 were $7.5 and $15 a month billed annually.
LALAL.AI is the AI tool that splits a song into stems, such as vocals and instruments, and it also has a voice changer. The free plan lets you hear the quality before you pay. The thing to understand is how minutes are counted, because it's not just the length of your song. Here's how it works, from LALAL.AI's own pricing page, checked as of October 2026.
What LALAL.AI does
LALAL.AI's pricing page names three main tools that use your minutes: the Vocal Remover, which pulls vocals away from the backing track, the Stem Splitter, which separates a track into its individual stems, and the Voice Changer. All three run on the same minute balance, which is why it pays to understand how minutes are counted before you start.
LALAL.AI plans compared
| Starter | Lite | Pro | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price as listed | Always free | $7.5 a month, $90 billed annually | $15 a month, $180 billed annually |
| Relaxed Queue minutes | 10 minutes | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Fast Queue minutes | None listed | 90 a month | 250 a month |
| VST plugin | No | No | Yes |
| Best for | Testing quality | Everyday use | Heavy use, plugin and API |
LALAL.AI's FAQ says Pro is the choice if you need more Fast Queue minutes, the VST plugin, local processing in the desktop app or API access. The VST plugin is on Pro only.
How LALAL.AI counts your minutes
This is the detail most people miss. For stem separation, LALAL.AI doesn't just count the length of your file. Its formula is total file length multiplied by the number of stem separation types you select. So a 4 minute song split into two stem types uses 8 minutes, and a 3 minute song split into three types uses 9. On the free Starter plan's 10 minutes, that's enough for a short test, not a whole album.
For the Voice Changer, minutes are counted on the length of the output it generates.
Fast Queue vs Relaxed Queue
LALAL.AI says both queues give identical separation quality. Fast Queue gives you priority. Relaxed Queue runs when server capacity allows, so waits vary.
- Paid plans get unlimited Relaxed Queue minutes, plus 90 Fast minutes a month on Lite or 250 on Pro.
- You can't switch queues yourself. Each month starts in Fast Queue until your Fast minutes run out, then moves to Relaxed automatically.
- Unused Fast minutes don't roll over. They reset at the start of each billing period.
- Your minutes are shared across the website, desktop app, iOS app and Android app.
Which plan fits how you work
- Testing once or twice: stay on Starter, pick a short track and choose a single stem type.
- A few songs a week: Lite gives you 90 Fast minutes a month and then unlimited Relaxed Queue, so you never hit a hard stop.
- Producing in your DAW: Pro is the only plan with the VST plugin, and it adds local processing in the desktop app.
- Building it into an app or workflow: Pro is also the plan with API access.
Because Relaxed Queue minutes are unlimited on both paid plans, the real difference between Lite and Pro is speed, the plugin and the API, not how much audio you can process.
Extra minutes without changing plan
If you need more Fast Queue minutes for a busy month, LALAL.AI sells one-time top-ups. As of October 2026 its FAQ listed:
| Top-up | Fast Queue minutes | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Master | 750 | $50 |
| Premium | 3000 | $190 |
| Enterprise | 5000 | $300 |
Cancelling and refunds
To cancel, hover over your minute balance at the top right of the site, open Profile, click Manage Subscription and then Cancel Subscription. You keep premium features and your remaining minutes until the end of the billing period, then your account goes back to the free Starter plan and any remaining Fast minutes expire. LALAL.AI says subscriptions are non-refundable, so test on Starter first.
How to test LALAL.AI for free
- Pick a short track you know well, so you can hear any problems in the split.
- Choose only the stem type you need, such as vocals, to keep your minutes down.
- Upload it on the free Starter plan and run the separation.
- Listen to the stems on headphones, especially where the vocal and instruments overlap.
- If the quality works for you, decide between Lite for everyday use and Pro if you need the VST plugin.

My verdict: is LALAL.AI free?
Yes, to test. The free Starter plan is there so you can check the quality, but its minutes go quickly because each stem type counts against your file length. For regular use, Lite was $7.5 a month and Pro $15 a month, both billed annually, as of October 2026. Choose the fewest stems you need, and remember unused Fast minutes don't carry over.
