Is Kashable Legit? Payroll Loans, Rates and Fees Explained (2026)

Kashable is a real loan provider operated by Kashable LLC in New York, offered through employers and repaid through payroll. Its FAQ says loans are issued by one of several lending partners and aren't depository products. The catch is cost: it lists an APR range of 6% to 35.99%, so check the terms for your situation.

A loan offered through your employer sounds convenient, and also a bit unusual, so I understand why you'd ask if Kashable is legit. I've read Kashable's own home page, FAQ and lenders page, plus the FTC's guidance on advance-fee loans. I'm not giving financial advice, only what the pages say.

Who runs Kashable

The company site says it's operated by Kashable LLC in New York, NY. It describes itself as financial wellness for employees, saying that when savings aren't enough, it supports employees through life events.

How Kashable loans work through your employer

This is what makes Kashable different from a typical online lender. Its pages say it has partnered with a number of HR platforms and benefits administration systems and integrates with payroll systems to administer deductions. The loans are described as automatically repaid through payroll.

That has two sides. Repayment can be simple because it comes out of your pay. It also means the loan sits close to your job, so I'd read the terms on what happens if your pay changes. Kashable's pages I read don't say what happens if you leave your employer, so ask before you borrow.

Who lends the money behind Kashable

The FAQ says personal loans are issued by one of several lending partners listed on its lenders page, and that the loans are not depository products. That means Kashable isn't a bank account, and I haven't seen a Member FDIC statement on the lenders page.

The lenders page says the lender is licensed and regulated by the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department, Financial Institutions Division, and by the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services. Check which lender and licence apply to your own loan in your paperwork.

Kashable amounts, rates and fees

Here's what Kashable states. Loan amounts run from 250 to 30,000 US dollars, and terms run from 6 to 36 months. The APR range is 6% to 35.99%, and Kashable says the lowest rate requires a responsible financial history.

Its example is an 18-month, 5,000 US dollar loan at 22.33% interest with a 225 US dollar origination fee, giving an APR of 28.50%. Notice how the APR is higher than the interest rate because the fee is counted. When you compare any loan, compare the APR and the fee, not only the interest rate.

If you're weighing other short-term borrowing, my guide to making sure you get a good deal on a payday loan shows what to compare.

Who can and can't use Kashable

The FAQ says loans are subject to approval, so not everyone will be accepted. It also says personal loans are not currently available to active military members or their dependents, and can't be used for postsecondary education expenses such as tuition, books or room and board. Because access runs through employers, you may only see Kashable if your employer offers it.

Scams that copy lenders like Kashable

Advance-fee loan scams are common, and the FTC's guidance is blunt about them. A request for a processing or other fee before a loan is issued is, in the FTC's words, a scam, and real lenders won't promise you credit before you've applied. A real Kashable offer would come through your employer's benefits setup, not a cold message.

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

  • Never pay a fee to someone who says it will 'guarantee' your loan.
  • Go to Kashable through your employer's benefits portal or by typing the address yourself.
  • Ignore texts or calls asking for your bank login or a payment to release funds.
  • Check any message against what HR or your benefits portal tells you.

Questions to ask before you borrow

Because repayment comes straight from your pay, a few questions are worth asking in writing before you accept an offer:

  • Which lending partner is making my loan, and where is its licence listed?
  • What is the full APR once the origination fee is included?
  • What happens to repayment if my hours or pay change?
  • What happens to the loan if I leave my employer?
  • Is there a charge if I want to pay it off early?

Kashable's pages I read don't answer all of these, so use the loan agreement and your HR team to fill the gaps.

If something goes wrong with a loan

Keep your loan paperwork, repayment schedule and messages. If you can't solve a problem with the lender, the CFPB takes complaints about personal loans, and the regulator listed on your lender's page is another route.

If you're a small business owner and not an employee, Kashable isn't built for you, and my piece on what to try when the bank says no is a better starting point.

So is Kashable legit?

Yes, it's a real provider with a named operator and an employer-based model, and it publishes its rate range. The catches are the high end of that range, origination fees and loans being tied to payroll. Check the terms for your situation before you borrow.
