To see your Facebook Marketplace rating, open Facebook Marketplace, go to your Facebook Marketplace profile and look for your ratings. In the iPhone or Android app, tap View Facebook Marketplace profile. Ratings may not show until you have 5 or more eligible ones.
If you sell on Facebook Marketplace, your rating is the first thing a careful buyer checks. A good one makes people message you faster. A missing one makes them hesitate. So it's worth knowing exactly where to look at your own, what it shows, and why it might not be showing yet.
Everything below comes from Facebook's own help pages, and I've kept to the wording they use. One thing to know up front: ratings behave differently on a computer and in the phone app, which is the main reason people think theirs has vanished.
Finding your own Facebook Marketplace profile and rating on a computer
Your ratings live on your Facebook Marketplace profile. Facebook's steps for a computer are:
- From your Feed, click Facebook Marketplace in the left menu. If you don't see it, click See more.
- Click Buying.
- Click Facebook Marketplace profile.
That page shows any available ratings and other information about you as a buyer or seller. Facebook's help says seller ratings are visible in a seller's profile on all platforms except Facebook Lite, so a computer is fine for viewing yours.
Finding your Facebook Marketplace rating in the iPhone or Android app
In the app, Facebook gives these steps for both iPhone and Android:
- Tap Menu in the top left of Facebook, then tap Facebook Marketplace. If you don't see it, tap See more.
- Tap Facebook Marketplace profile.
- Tap View Facebook Marketplace profile at the top.
Menus move around between app versions, so if the labels differ slightly, look for your profile picture or the word Profile inside Facebook Marketplace and follow it from there.
Why your Facebook Marketplace rating isn't showing yet
This is the part that surprises people. Facebook says your ratings may become public once you receive 5 or more eligible ratings. That can include both the seller and buyer ratings you get. Until then, a new seller can look as if they have no rating at all, even if a few kind buyers have already left one.
There are two more details from the help centre:
- Buyer and seller ratings can only be given from the Facebook app for iPhone or Android, not from facebook.com or Facebook Lite.
- Buyer ratings are only visible in the iPhone or Android app. They aren't shown on a computer or in Facebook Lite.
So if you're checking on a computer and expecting to see the ratings you gave as a buyer, or the ones sellers gave you, that's why you won't. Open the app instead.
What the Facebook Marketplace star ratings mean
When a buyer rates a seller, they choose a star rating from 1 to 5 and can add reasons such as communication, plus extra detail. Facebook's own labels are:
| Stars | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 1 | Very poor |
| 2 | Poor |
| 3 | Fair |
| 4 | Good |
| 5 | Excellent |
In its seller tips, Facebook treats 4 to 5 stars as positive and 3 stars or below as negative. The help also warns that Facebook doesn't verify whether the person rating has really bought the product or used the service.
How to ask Facebook Marketplace buyers for a rating
If your rating is thin, you can request ratings from past buyers in the iPhone or Android app. Facebook gives two routes. From your profile:
- Tap Menu, then tap Facebook Marketplace, and tap Profile.
- Tap Facebook Marketplace profile.
- Scroll down and tap Request ratings.
- Find the buyer and tap Send request.
Or from a listing:
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
- Go to Profile, then below Selling tap Your listings.
- Scroll to the listing you want and tap Ask for reviews.
- Below the buyer's name, tap Send request.
Seller reviews are a separate thing: buyers can type a comment about their experience. Facebook says they appear in your profile and on the individual listing, and you can reply to them. If a buyer leaves a review you think breaks the rules, Facebook has a way to report seller reviews.
Checking another seller's Facebook Marketplace rating
The same help article covers looking at someone else's profile, which is handy for checking a seller before you message them. On a computer, click an item for sale, then click the seller's name. In the iPhone or Android app, tap an item for sale, scroll down to Seller information, then tap Seller details.
It's a thirty-second habit that can save you a wasted trip. Look at how many ratings there are, what the reviews say and whether the seller has badges before you agree to meet anyone.
Helping buyers trust your Facebook Marketplace profile
Facebook suggests buyers look at ratings, seller badges such as Very Responsive, Reliable Shipper, Super Seller or Highly Rated, and the personal profile behind the seller, including mutual friends and when they joined. You can't control all of that, but you can make sure your personal profile looks like a real person. My thoughts on choosing the best time to update your Facebook profile picture apply here too, since a clear photo helps buyers feel at ease.
Replying promptly to messages also matters. If you're curious how seen-messages work when you chat with buyers, I cover that in my explainer on Facebook read receipts.
If you can't find your Facebook Marketplace rating
- Use the Facebook app on an iPhone or Android phone rather than facebook.com or Facebook Lite.
- Check you're in the Facebook Marketplace profile section, not your regular timeline.
- Remember the 5 eligible ratings point: a new seller may simply not have enough yet.
- Update the app and try again, as menus can vary by version.
- If it still looks wrong, report the problem inside Facebook using the help centre.
