Frase is a content platform for SEO and AI search that suits freelancers and small content teams who publish a steady number of articles each month. The catch is that every plan is a monthly cap, 10 articles on Starter, 40 on Professional and 100 on Scale, as of Oct 2026, so you're buying capacity rather than features.
Most people typing "frase review" into Google want one answer: how much can I publish before I hit the ceiling? I read Frase's own pricing page line by line, and that answer sits in the plan limits, not the feature list. Here's what each plan includes, where it stops, and who I think should start the trial.
Frase plans and their monthly limits
| Plan | Price (dollars) | What's included | The limit that bites |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 39 dollars a month billed yearly, or 49 dollars a month on month-to-month billing | 1 seat and 1 site; publishing to WordPress, Webflow, Sanity or Wix, or hosting on FraseCMS; SEO and GEO checks; AI Visibility on ChatGPT and Google AI | 10 articles and 50 audit pages each month; Content Guard watches 10 pages |
| Professional | 103 dollars a month billed yearly, or 129 dollars a month on month-to-month billing | Everything in Starter, plus 3 seats and 5 sites, a content calendar, internal linking suggestions, one piece turned into posts for every channel, AI crawler monitoring and Perplexity added | 40 articles and 250 audit pages each month; extra seats are 29 dollars a month |
| Scale | 239 dollars a month billed yearly, or 299 dollars a month on month-to-month billing | Everything in Professional, plus 5 seats and up to 10 domains | 100 articles and 1,000 audit pages each month; Content Guard watches 300 pages; extra seats are 29 dollars a month |
| Enterprise | Custom, scoped to your organisation (talk to sales) | Custom seats and domains, white-label reports | No public number on the page |
Prices are in dollars and are the figures on Frase's pricing page as of Oct 2026. Plans and limits change, so check the vendor's pricing page before you buy.
Frase sells an article allowance, so count your month first
Frase doesn't really split its plans by which tools you get. It splits them by how much you can produce. Starter gives you 10 articles and 50 audit pages each month on one site. Professional raises that to 40 articles and 250 audit pages across 5 sites, and Scale to 100 articles and 1,000 audit pages across up to 10 domains. So the first question isn't "which features do I need?" It's "how many pieces do I publish in a normal month, and how many old pages do I want audited?"
If you write four or five posts a month for your own site, Starter's 10 articles leaves room. If you're a freelancer juggling a few clients, you'll hit both walls on Starter quickly: one site and 10 articles. That's the point where Professional, with 5 sites and 3 seats, starts to make sense, and where you need to be honest with yourself about volume.
Then there's the billing. Frase's page has a Monthly and Yearly toggle marked "Save 20%", says yearly is billed once a year and that you can switch back to monthly. Each plan shows a pair: 39 dollars a month billed yearly or 49 dollars month to month on Starter, 103 or 129 on Professional, and 239 or 299 on Scale. The lower number means paying for the year up front, so I'd only take it once the trial has shown you'll use the allowance every month.
Last, the overflow. When a month runs long, Frase offers optional pay-as-you-go, and the pricing page says it's off by default. I like that. You won't wake up to a surprise bill, but your plan's allowance is the limit unless you go in and switch it on, which is worth knowing before a busy launch month.
What Frase does across the plans
Frase calls itself "the content operating system for AI search". Read through the plans and that comes down to a loop: plan and write articles, audit pages you already have, publish, then watch how you show up in Google and in AI answers. The pricing page lists these pieces:
- Publishing straight to WordPress, Webflow, Sanity or Wix, or hosting on FraseCMS, from Starter up.
- SEO and GEO checks on your content, plus AI Visibility on ChatGPT and Google AI, from Starter up.
- Content Guard, which watches 10 pages on Starter and 300 pages on Scale.
- A content calendar, internal linking suggestions and one piece turned into posts for every channel, from Professional up.
- AI crawler monitoring, with Perplexity added to the visibility tracking, from Professional up.
- White-label reports and custom seats and domains on Enterprise.

Who should try Frase, and who shouldn't
Frase looks like a good fit if:
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
- You're a content marketer, freelancer or small SEO team publishing a known number of articles every month.
- You want research, content checks and AI search visibility tracking in one place instead of several logins.
- You'd like to test it for 7 days before paying anything, with no card on file.
I'd look elsewhere if:
- You only need the odd one-off article, because you'll be paying for monthly capacity you won't use.
- You need more than 10 articles a month or more than one site but don't want to move up from Starter.
If you're weighing up a few SEO tools at once, my guide on choosing an SEO tool that moves rankings walks through the questions I'd ask of any of them.
My verdict on Frase
I'd start the 7-day trial if you publish a steady number of articles every month and you care about showing up in AI answers as well as Google. Starter fits a solo writer or a one-site business doing up to 10 articles a month. Once you're past that, or you need a second seat, Professional is the realistic plan. I'd skip it if you only need the odd article, because the whole thing is priced around monthly volume. Whichever plan you pick, use the trial to count how many articles and audits you'd really get through in a month before you commit to a year up front.
