Chiropractic software combines scheduling, SOAP notes, intake forms, billing and patient reminders, and many tools add insurance claims and care plans. Choose one that matches how your clinic works: cash-based or insurance-billing, solo or multi-doctor. Check data security and support carefully. This page lists ten options in no particular order.
A busy chiropractic clinic can see patients every few minutes, and the notes, the next appointment and the payment all need to happen in that window. When your software is slow or clunky, it shows up as a queue at the front desk and notes finished late in the evening.
Below are ten chiropractic software options in no particular order, sorted alphabetically. Three are well-known names and the rest are smaller specialists, including allied-health tools used outside the US. Every description comes from each company's own website, re-checked today. If you're comparing online booking too, my guide on picking an online scheduling system covers what patients expect.
Chiropractic EHR and practice tools side by side
In the free plan column, Yes means the company's own site describes a free plan or free version, Trial only means a time-limited free trial, and No means neither is stated on the page I read. Offers change, so check each site before you rely on one.

HIPAA and your chiropractic software provider
If you practise in the US, here's the rule that shapes how you choose software. HHS lists chiropractors among the health care providers covered by HIPAA, but only if they transmit any information in an electronic form in connection with a transaction for which HHS has adopted a standard, such as electronic insurance claims.
HHS also says that when a covered entity uses a business associate to help with its work, it must have a written business associate contract that sets out what the business associate will do and requires it to follow the rules. In plain terms, if you're covered, ask every software provider for their business associate agreement before you put a single patient record in. This isn't legal advice.

What a chiropractic clinic should check
- SOAP notes: templates that match how you assess and treat, with quick re-use for repeat visits?
- Scheduling: handling high-volume, short appointments and family bookings?
- Billing model: built for cash-based care, insurance claims or both?
- Care plans and packages: tracked visit by visit?
- Intake: digital forms patients complete before arrival?
- Reminders: text and email reminders that cut missed visits?
- Support: hours that match your clinic, not just weekday office hours?
Switching chiropractic EHRs with less disruption
- Ask your current provider what records you can export, and in what format.
- Check how long you must keep old records under your local rules.
- Rebuild your most-used note templates before migration day.
- Move future appointments first so the diary keeps running.
- Run a short day with fewer patients for the first day on the new system.
- Review billing and reminders after the first week.
Patients increasingly judge a clinic by its reviews, and my Google review response prompts make replying to them much quicker.
Common mistakes clinics make with chiropractic software
- Choosing on features alone. A long feature list doesn't help if the daily visit flow is slow.
- Skipping the export question. You'll want your records out one day, so ask how before you're in.
- Leaving reminders switched off. They're one of the simplest ways to cut missed visits, and they don't need much setting up.
- Copying old templates as they are. A move is a good chance to trim notes you don't use.
- Forgetting the front desk. They'll use the system more than anyone, so they should see the demo too.
If you're a solo chiropractor, you won't need everything a five-doctor clinic needs. It's fine to start lean and add billing or marketing tools once the basics run smoothly. What you can't easily fix later is a messy patient database, so get that right from day one.
Do you make chiropractic software? Tool makers can ask to be considered for a featured place on this list.
My plain advice on chiropractic software
Decide your billing model first. A cash-based practice and an insurance-heavy practice need different things, and a lot of frustration comes from buying a system built for the other kind.
Then time a real visit. Ask each provider to show a returning patient from check-in to notes to payment. If it takes too long in a demo, it'll take longer on a busy Monday.
Frequently asked questions
What is chiropractic software?
It's practice software for chiropractors that covers scheduling, SOAP notes, intake, billing and reminders, often with insurance claims.
Is there free chiropractic software?
Free plans are uncommon. Most providers offer a demo, and some offer a free trial.
Do chiropractors need HIPAA-compliant software?
In the US, HIPAA applies to chiropractors who handle certain transactions electronically, such as insurance claims. Ask providers about their business associate agreement.
What are SOAP notes?
SOAP stands for subjective, objective, assessment and plan. It's a common structure for clinical notes.
Can chiropractic software handle cash-based practices?
Yes. Several tools focus on cash-based care with packages, memberships and simple checkout.
Is general clinic software good enough for chiropractic?
It can be for multi-discipline clinics. Dedicated chiropractic tools often have more specific notes and care plan features.
How long does an EHR migration take?
It varies with the volume of records. Plan for several weeks and check what your old provider can export.
Can patients book online?
Most tools offer online booking, and some include intake forms and reminders as part of the booking.
