CapCut offers a 7-day free trial of CapCut Pro to eligible new users in supported regions. You start it from the Pro upgrade screen on CapCut Online, the mobile app or desktop, you add a payment method, and you're charged automatically when the 7 days end unless you cancel at least 24 hours before renewal.
The trial gives you everything Pro does. CapCut's help centre lists 4K at 60fps export, no watermark, premium templates, AI tools and more cloud storage. What it doesn't make obvious is that not everyone sees the offer, and where you start the trial decides where you have to cancel it.
Who can get the CapCut Pro trial
CapCut says eligibility depends on your region, your account history and your app version. On the web, it lists three conditions:
- You've never had an active Pro subscription.
- Your country or region supports free trials.
- Your browser and account are in good standing.
On mobile, the app needs to be version 8.20 or higher, and CapCut notes that if you've ever subscribed before, the trial option won't appear. Your App Store or Play Store region decides whether a trial is offered at all, and on iOS, Apple may limit one free trial per person for some apps. So if you don't see a trial button, it usually isn't a glitch. You're simply not eligible on that account or store.
How to start the trial
| Where | Steps | Who bills you |
|---|---|---|
| CapCut Online | Profile icon, Upgrade to Pro, Start 7-Day Free Trial, add a payment method | CapCut |
| Mobile app | Me tab, Join CapCut Pro, Try 7 Days Free, confirm in the App Store or Google Play | Apple or Google |
| CapCut Desktop | Account, Upgrade to Pro, Join CapCut Pro, finish the trial on the web page that opens | CapCut |
On the web, CapCut says the payment method is needed to verify eligibility, but you won't be charged until the trial ends. Your Pro status switches on straight away and the countdown starts from that moment. On desktop, you complete the sign up in your browser and your Pro status syncs back to the app within seconds.
How to cancel without being charged
CapCut's billing help page is blunt about the timing: Pro subscriptions are set to auto renew, and if you don't cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date, your account is charged and a new billing cycle begins. On a 7-day trial, that means your real deadline is day six.
- Work out where you started the trial: CapCut Online or desktop, the App Store, or Google Play.
- If you started it in the app, cancel in your Apple or Google subscription settings. CapCut's terms say subscriptions bought through Apple or Google are subject to those stores' cancellation and refund rules.
- If you started it on the web or desktop, cancel from your CapCut account's subscription settings.
- Do it at least 24 hours before the trial ends, and keep the confirmation.
- Uninstalling the app isn't the same as cancelling. Cancel the subscription itself, in the store or in your CapCut account.
What happens after you cancel
CapCut's terms say that when a cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, you're moved back to the free version automatically. From then on, the Pro features you were testing, such as 4K export and premium templates, are no longer included.
If you used CapCut Online's credits, there's a detail worth knowing. CapCut says credits only exist on the web version, not on desktop or mobile. Monthly credits included with Pro stay usable until the end of your billing cycle, even after you cancel, and credits you bought separately on the web stay usable after Pro ends.
If you forgot and got charged
CapCut's help centre says subscriptions are virtual goods and generally aren't refundable once renewed. Its terms of service are more specific: you can cancel with a full refund within 14 calendar days of the subscription starting, but only if you haven't used the Premium features in any form since subscribing. Jurisdiction rules can change that, and app store purchases follow Apple's or Google's own refund process.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
| Situation | What CapCut's own pages say |
|---|---|
| Cancelled 24 hours or more before renewal | No charge, you drop back to free at the end of the period |
| Cancelled less than 24 hours before renewal | You're charged and a new cycle begins |
| Charged, Pro features not used since | Full refund possible within 14 calendar days under the terms |
| Charged and already used Pro | Generally not refundable; contact support to appeal |
| Subscribed through Apple or Google | Store rules apply to cancellation and refunds |
Is the trial worth it?
For most people, yes, as long as you plan the week. The free version of CapCut already covers a lot, so use the trial to test exactly what Pro adds: 4K export, premium templates and the AI tools on a real client video or a batch of Reels. If you're still deciding between editors, my CapCut vs Premiere Pro comparison is a good place to start, and if the free plan's watermark is your main issue, read how the CapCut watermark works first.
My advice
Start the trial on the device you'll cancel from. If you live on your phone, start it in the app; if you edit on a laptop, start it on the web. Set a reminder for day five, because CapCut's 24-hour rule means waiting until the last day is too late. And if you do get charged, don't open a single Pro feature until you've asked about a refund, because using it can cost you that 14-day window.
