Booksy Review: One Flat Plan and the Fees Around It

Booksy is booking software for salons, barbers and other appointment businesses, sold as one plan at 29.99 dollars a month plus tax with every feature included. The catch, as of Oct 2026, is what sits around that plan: 20 dollars a month per extra team member, card processing fees, and a one-time 30% Boost fee on a new client's first visit, capped at 100 dollars.

Booksy's pricing looks about as simple as booking software gets: one plan, every feature in it, no tiers to compare. I read Booksy's pricing page and its FAQ, and the subscription is the easy bit. What moves your monthly bill is how many people work in the shop, how clients pay you, and whether you switch Boost on.

Where a Booksy bill grows: staff, card fees and Boost

The flat plan is real. Booksy says all features are in the core subscription, with no commitment and cancel anytime. The FAQ puts it plainly: 29.99 dollars a month, plus 20 dollars a month for each additional team member, plus tax. So a solo barber and a busy salon pay the same base, and the salon adds 20 dollars a month for each extra person on the books.

Card payments are the second moving part. There's no monthly fee for payment processing, but every transaction carries one. Mobile payments and keyed-in entry are 2.69% + 0.30 dollars. The Booksy Card Reader is 2.49% + 0.10 dollars, and Tap to Pay is 2.49% + 0.20 dollars. If most of your clients pay by card at the chair, the method you choose decides which of those you pay hundreds of times a month. The page also notes that standard mobile payment processing fees apply to no-show protection features and online gift cards.

Then there's payout speed. Next business day payouts are free. Fast payouts land in 30 minutes for a 1.5% fee. If you can wait a day, keep that 1.5%.

Boost is the one people don't see coming. It's Booksy's own visibility feature: switch it on and you show up more to people browsing Booksy for somewhere to book. It's free to turn on with no monthly fee. When a new client finds you through Boost, Booksy takes a one-time 30% fee based on the total cost of that client's first visit with you, up to a maximum of 100 dollars. It's once per Boost client, not on every visit, but on a long first appointment the cap is what limits it.

What the one Booksy plan includes

Booksy lists these as things it doesn't charge extra for:

  • Unlimited bookings and 24/7 online booking.
  • Client appointment confirmations and reminders, which the page says are always free.
  • Email marketing and text message marketing, with 2,000 free SMS marketing messages a month included.
  • Custom forms and liability waivers.
  • Reserve with Google.
  • Reporting and insights, and waitlists.
  • No-show protection features, online gift cards, and memberships and packages.

Who Booksy suits, and who should hold off

It suits solo beauty and personal-care professionals and small shops that want online booking, reminders, marketing messages and card payments on one flat plan, with no higher tier to move up to later. The 14-day trial with no credit card makes it easy to try before you move your client list.

Work with me

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

Skip it if you want a price that stays flat as you add staff, because each extra team member is 20 dollars a month. Think twice about Boost if you don't want a platform fee tied to new-client visits. And if you take most payments as keyed-in cards, the 2.69% + 0.30 dollars rate is the one to price in.

Booksy verdict for salons, barbers and solo pros

I'd start the 14-day trial if you're a solo stylist, barber or therapist, because one plan with every feature means you won't be upsold into a higher tier to get reminders or waitlists. I'd use the Card Reader if most clients pay in person, take free next-day payouts, and only switch Boost on when you want new faces and accept the one-time fee. I'd skip Booksy if your team is growing fast and the per-person charge is the part you can't carry.
