Bland AI Alternatives: 10 Voice Agent Platforms for Busy Teams

Bland AI alternatives split into developer platforms you build on yourself and enterprise contact-centre platforms that come with more structure around them. Decide who'll own the agent day to day, then pilot two platforms on real calls before you move any serious volume across.

For sales and support leaders handling a lot of calls

Call volume changes how you should choose a voice agent. When you're answering a handful of calls a day, almost any platform will do. When your sales or support team is fielding a steady flood of them, small things like how a platform handles interruptions, transfers and your existing phone system start to decide whether the project works.

This list is for the person who'll be held responsible for that: the head of sales, support or contact centre operations who's looking at Bland AI and wants to see what else is out there. If you're a smaller business that only needs a couple of agents, my guide to AI agents for small businesses is probably the better starting point.

Five questions to settle before you compare platforms

Who will build and maintain the agent?

Some of these platforms are made for developers who'll write and test the agent themselves. Others are made for enterprise teams with more structure around agent management. If you don't have engineers to spare, that one answer cuts the list down fast.

Does it need to live inside your current phone system and CRM?

If your team already runs on a phone platform and a CRM you're not willing to replace, look first at the vendors who say they work inside the systems you already have.

Is it voice only, or voice and chat?

Several vendors here describe voice and chat agents on one platform. If your customers move between a phone call and a chat window, that matters more than it looks.

What does a good call look like?

Decide this before the pilot. For sales it might be a qualified lead or a booked meeting. For support it might be a resolved question without a transfer. Without that definition, every demo looks good.

How will callers know it's AI?

This one isn't optional in every market, and I've covered it in its own section further down.

The alternatives, alphabetically

These are in alphabetical and in no particular order. The descriptions follow each vendor's own wording, so read them as claims and test them on your own calls.

Cognigy

Best for: Enterprise customer service teams running generative and conversational AI agents across voice and chat.

Dasha

Best for: Developers building realistic voice and text agents for telephony, WebRTC and text channels, with low latency as the vendor's focus.

Millis AI

Best for: Building LLM-based voice applications where response speed matters most, which is the vendor's main pitch.

Parloa

Best for: Large customer experience teams that want one place to build, test and scale voice and chat agents.

PolyAI

Best for: Enterprises that want voice AI built to finish what the customer started, not just pass the call along.

Regal

Best for: Enterprise contact centres looking for a platform made specifically for AI agents.

Retell AI

Best for: Answering, qualifying and booking on real phone calls, with a pilot on live calls before you roll out.

Synthflow

Best for: Contact centres, BPOs and multi-location brands that want agents working inside the phone systems and CRMs they already run.

Vapi

Best for: Developers who want to build, test and deploy conversational voice agents on a platform made for them.

Vogent

Best for: Teams wanting a single all-in-one platform to build, test and deploy voice agents.

Telling callers they're speaking to AI

Here's the part that's easy to skip when a demo sounds convincing. The European Commission's page on the AI regulatory framework says people using AI systems such as chatbots should be made aware they're interacting with a machine. If any of your callers are in Europe, plan for that from day one.

In practice, that usually means a short line at the start of the call. Write it into the script before the pilot, not after, because it changes how callers react and you'll want your results to reflect the real thing. Check the rules in every market you call into, as they don't all match.

Advice on piloting a new voice agent

Pick one call type, not five. A single, well-defined job, like booking appointments or answering one common support question, gives you a clean comparison between two platforms. Run both on real calls for long enough to hear the awkward ones: callers who interrupt, change their minds, or ask for a human.

Listen to recordings yourself rather than relying on a dashboard. Note where each agent hesitates, mishears or hands off too late. If you also want written conversations on your site, my list of chatbot builders covers that side, and these AI voice generators are useful for recorded messages that don't need a live agent.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Bland AI alternative?

It's another platform for building AI agents that make or answer phone calls. The options here range from developer platforms you build on to enterprise contact-centre platforms with more structure around them.

Do I need developers to use these platforms?

For some, yes. Several describe themselves as platforms for developers. Others are aimed at enterprise customer experience teams. Check how each vendor expects agents to be built before you shortlist it.

Do callers have to be told they're talking to AI?

The European Commission says people using AI systems such as chatbots should be made aware they're interacting with a machine. Rules vary by market, so check the ones that apply to the people you call.

How long should a voice agent pilot run?

Long enough to hear the hard calls as well as the easy ones. Agree what a good call means first, run two platforms on the same call type, and review real recordings before you decide.

Can a voice agent work with my existing CRM?

Some vendors on this list say their agents work inside the phone systems and CRMs teams already run. Ask for a demo using your own setup rather than a generic one.
