Firefox Screenshot Extension Options (2026): 10 Compared

A Firefox screenshot extension captures a whole web page, a selected area or the visible window, then saves it, copies it or shares it. The add-on with the most daily users isn't the best rated or the most recently updated here, so compare all three before you install one. Ten follow in no particular order.

Grabbing a full web page as one image is the job most of these add-ons are built around, going by their listings, and a few also record the screen, annotate or upload what you capture. The difference between them shows up in the numbers more than the names.

They're listed alphabetically and in no particular order. Every number comes from each add-on's Firefox Add-ons (addons.mozilla.org) listing: author, daily users, average rating, ratings count, last updated date and the Recommended badge, as of Oct 2026. Need the same thing on your phone? Here's how to take a screenshot on Android.

Criteria I used and the ten capture add-ons

Each add-on here says on its listing that it captures pages or parts of the screen. I read the same things on every one: author, daily users, average rating, ratings count, last updated date and badge. Type and Good for come from each description. None of the ten says it's free, so the last column reads Not stated, as of Oct 2026.

Ten screenshot add-ons for Firefox

Awesome Screenshot

Easy Screenshot

FireShot

Best for: Research and documentation work, with full page capture and selections that run past the visible screen, kept offline.

GoFullPage

Best for: Capturing an entire page without the add-on asking for extra permissions, from the most recently updated listing here.

Lightshot

Nimbus Screen Capture

Best for: Annotating screenshots and saving them to local files or Google Drive, with Slack upload listed too.

Best for: A one-click screenshot of the entire page, from a listing with the lowest average on this list, 2.9, as of Oct 2026.

Save Screenshot

Best for: Copying the current page to your clipboard as an image, or saving it as a file, when you want it pasted somewhere fast.

Screenshot Full Page

Best for: Small and single minded: one click captures the entire page, from a listing last updated March 29, 2020, as of Oct 2026.

Biggest by users, older by date

Easy Screenshot shows 1,273,726 daily users, far more than anything else here, yet it has a 3.9 average from 772 ratings and was last updated January 3, 2023, as of Oct 2026. That's a huge user base resting on very few ratings and an update date that's years old.

FireShot has a 4.6 average on 2,655 ratings, the most ratings on this list, but was last updated June 21, 2023. Nimbus Screen Capture's listing was last updated August 10, 2020. Only one add-on here, Awesome Screenshot, carries Mozilla's Recommended by Firefox badge, as of Oct 2026.

Averages across the ten run from 2.9 to 4.6, and five of the ten were last updated before 2024. Read the date and the ratings count together before you trust either the user number or the average.

Which screenshot add-on fits the way you work

  • Whole pages for records or research: pick a full page capture add-on.
  • One part of the screen: pick an area tool with selections.
  • Notes and arrows on top: pick one with annotation tools.
  • You paste into chats and docs: pick one that copies straight to the clipboard.
  • Video as well as stills: pick a capture add-on that also records the screen.

Quick checks before you add one

  1. Check the last updated date. On this list it runs from March 29, 2020 to October 24, 2026, as of Oct 2026.
  2. Compare the ratings count with daily users, not the average on its own.
  3. Read what permissions it asks for; one listing here says it needs no extra permissions.
  4. Take a test capture of a long page you use often before you rely on it.

If you need more than the odd still, my guide to choosing screen recording software covers full desktop tools.

My plain advice on Firefox screenshot add-ons

Don't pick on user numbers alone. The biggest add-on here has the oldest update of the large listings and a modest ratings count, so check the date and the ratings count first. Then decide whether you need whole pages, selections, annotation or recording, and choose the add-on whose listing names that job.

If you capture screens for tutorials or client work, it's worth having one add-on for quick stills and a separate recorder for video, rather than forcing one tool to do both.
