A Chrome extension for Reddit changes how the site works in your browser: bringing back the old design, collapsing long comment threads, hiding promoted posts, alerting you to new posts or exporting comments. Pick the job first, then compare the users count, ratings count and last updated date. Nine follow in no particular order.
Reddit extensions split into readers' tools and marketers' tools. Most of the nine below change how Reddit looks and reads, while a few are built for people who use Reddit for business, such as watching subreddits for new posts, exporting comments or checking an ad pixel.
They're listed alphabetically and in no particular order, with users, average rating, ratings count, publisher and last updated date from each Chrome Web Store listing, as of Oct 2026. If you're on Reddit for your business, my Reddit marketing strategy guide is the place to start.
Nine Reddit extensions compared

Nine Chrome extensions that change Reddit
Old Reddit Redirect
Best for: Readers who prefer the classic layout and want Reddit to load the old design every time, from tomjwatson, free and open source by its listing.
Reddit Comment Collapser
Best for: Collapsing long comment threads and jumping between them on old and new Reddit, from the same publisher as the old design redirect.
Reddit Comment Scraper
Best for: Researchers and marketers who want Reddit comments in a spreadsheet or doc, from DDTECH SOLUTIONS LLC, updated October 29, 2026.
Reddit Enhancement Suite
Best for: Heavy Reddit users who want a whole set of browsing modules in one install, from redditenhancementsuite.com, the largest listing here.
Reddit Enhancer
Best for: Tweaking how Reddit looks and behaves on any version of the site, from Joelacus, a listing with 10,000 users and 122 ratings.
Reddit Pixel Helper
Best for: Advertisers checking that their Reddit Pixel is set up right, from Reddit Ads itself, the only extension here from Reddit.
Reddit post notifier
Best for: Watching subreddits, Reddit searches or a user's activity for new posts, from Vitaly Yerofeyevsky, last updated July 31, 2025.
Reddit Promoted Ad Blocker
Best for: Telling real posts apart from promoted ones by hiding the ads, from MockeryDev, whose listing says the extension is free.
Yesterday For Old Reddit
Best for: Old Reddit fans after a fast, clean, classic look, from Team Doko, a newer listing with 1,000 users and 11 ratings.
Who's behind these Reddit extensions
Only one of the nine comes from Reddit itself. Reddit Pixel Helper is offered by Reddit Ads and lists Reddit, Inc. as its developer, and it's a checking tool for advertisers rather than a reading tool. It shows a 5.0 average, but from 8 ratings on 20,000 users, as of Oct 2026.

Two others share a publisher: tomjwatson makes both the old design redirect and the comment collapser, and both listings say they're free and open source. Reddit Enhancement Suite has the most users at 1,000,000, yet it holds the lowest average here, 4.1 from 4.2K ratings.
Choosing a Reddit extension by what you do there
- You prefer the old Reddit layout: pick a redirect or an old Reddit add-on.
- Long threads wear you out: pick a comment collapser.
- Promoted posts blur into real ones: pick an extension whose listing hides promoted posts.
- You watch a few subreddits for leads or mentions: pick a notifier that watches subreddits, searches or users.
- You research what people say: pick a comment scraper that exports to CSV, JSON or Google Docs.
- You run Reddit ads: pick the pixel checker from Reddit's own ads team.
Reddit extension checks that take two minutes
- Read the Offered by line and the last updated date. On this list the dates run from July 31, 2025 to October 29, 2026, as of Oct 2026.
- Compare users with the ratings count. A 5.0 from 11 people and a 4.1 from thousands aren't the same evidence.
- Check what the extension asks permission to read when you add it.
- If you use Reddit for business, read each subreddit's rules before you post anything you've found with these tools.

My plain advice on Reddit extensions
Install for one job at a time. If you only want the old layout back, a redirect does that and nothing else. If you're on Reddit for work, look at the notifier, the comment scraper and the pixel checker, because those listings are written for that. Compare who offers each extension, the users count, the ratings count and the last updated date, and remove anything you stop using.
And before you post, my guide on how to post on Reddit covers the basics that keep you on the right side of moderators.
