UK trades firms and maintenance contractors should start with the tools built for the UK market, where you'll find features such as gas certificates and F-Gas compliance. Sole traders and small teams can look at simple job management apps with a UK edition. Larger or multi-trade firms can add the global field service platforms. Ten options follow in no particular order.
Field service software for UK firms has one trap: several of the global platforms are built mainly for US home service companies, and their pages talk about markets you don't work in. One app on this list even runs a separate UK site, so it pays to check you're reading the UK edition.
The ten below are listed alphabetically, and every description comes from each vendor's own website, read as of Oct 2026. If you mainly need customers to book appointments online, my guide to online scheduling software covers that job.
UK field service software side by side
I checked the free plan column on each vendor's own website, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the page names a free plan, a free version or an open source edition. Trial only means it names a time-limited free trial. Not stated means the page I read named neither, so check the vendor's own site before you sign up.

Check the UK edition before you trial
- Powered Now's page is titled 'Job Management Software For UK Trades' and says it's built in the UK for UK trades.
- Joblogic calls itself the UK's best field service management software and lists gas certificates, F-Gas compliance and boiler servicing among its features.
- ServiceM8 runs a separate UK site, so check the UK edition rather than the global one.
- Simpro's page now leads with an 'AI-First Platform', a sign that bigger field service vendors are rebuilding around AI.
UK-built, UK edition or global field platform?
- UK-built tools are designed around UK trades and compliance work, such as gas certificates and F-Gas records.
- Established apps with a UK edition are simple to start with and cover quotes, jobs, invoices and payments on the UK site.
- Global field platforms go deeper on dispatch, routing, fleet and AI agents, but some are built mainly for US and Canadian home service firms, so check what's available here.
What UK trades firms should test on real jobs
- Certificates and compliance: can engineers complete the forms and certificates your trade needs on site?
- Scheduling and dispatch: can the office see who's where and move jobs when something urgent comes in?
- Quotes to invoices: does a job flow from quote to invoice to payment without rekeying?
- Making Tax Digital: does it connect to your accounting software so your books stay up to date?
- Mobile app: is it quick enough for engineers to use on site, on a poor signal?
If you're a sole trader who mainly needs bookings and reminders, my guide to booking and scheduling software for solo operators may be enough.

My plain advice for UK field service firms
Start with the tools built for the UK, because certificates, compliance and UK invoicing are where a US-first platform can let you down. Trial two at most, with real engineers on real jobs for a couple of weeks, not just the office in a demo. If you run a large multi-trade operation with a fleet, add one global platform to the shortlist and ask exactly what its UK edition covers.
If you manage properties as well as maintaining them, my roundup of property management software covers the landlord side.

Frequently asked questions
What is field service management software?
It's software that runs the jobs your team does on site: booking and scheduling, sending engineers out, recording work on a mobile app and turning finished jobs into invoices.
Is there field service software built for UK trades?
Yes. Several tools on this list are built in or for the UK, and one lists gas certificates, F-Gas compliance and boiler servicing among its features.
Is there free job management software in the UK?
One app on this list names a free plan on its UK site, aimed at a single user with a limited number of jobs. Others offer a free trial. The free plan column shows which, as of Oct 2026.
Do US field service apps work in the UK?
Some do, but check before you buy. A few vendors here focus on US and Canadian home service firms, so confirm UK support, tax handling and integrations first.
Can field service software answer calls?
Some now can. Several vendors here offer an AI receptionist or phone answering service that picks up while your team is out on a job.
