Best Air Purifiers (2026): 10 Makers by Shape and Filter

The best air purifier is the one that fits your room and your filter routine. Start with the shape, tower, console, table top or pluggable, then the room size a maker names and the HEPA grade on the model. Then check how replacement filters reach you, from a filter subscription to a refill finder. Leave the badges until last.

Air purifier pages love a big claim, and once you've read three of them they all start to blur into one.

This list covers ten air purifier makers, using only what each maker's own website says, read on 2 Nov 2026 (as of Nov 2026). It's alphabetical and in no particular order. Coverage, clean-air and health claims stay on the makers' pages: this list is about shapes, sizes, the filter grade a maker names and how you'll keep the filters fresh.

Ten air purifier makers and what they sell

AirDoctor

Best for: Buying a purifier, its replacement filters and HVAC filters from the same menu, with models such as the AD5500 listed.

Austin Air

Best for: Using its Help Me Choose quiz to pick a purifier, with purifier bundles and filter replacements on the same menu.

Blueair

Best for: Shopping by room size, small, medium or large, or picking from its Sleep Collection and 2-in-1 purify and humidify models.

Dyson

Best for: Adding a purifier to a range that also covers fans, humidifiers and heaters, with purifier filters and remotes sold as parts.

GermGuardian

Best for: Choosing a shape first, console, table top, tower or pluggable, with HEPA filters, carbon filters and replacement bulbs listed alongside.

Hathaspace

Best for: Getting replacement filters on a schedule, with a refill finder that shows only the filters that fit your machine.

Levoit

Best for: Filtering a range of 25 purifiers by small, medium or large room, or by smart Wi-Fi models, across its Core, Vital and EverestAir lines.

Medify Air

Best for: Picking from numbered models such as the MA-25 tabletop, the MA-40, the MA-50-V3.0 and the MA-112 PRO, with True HEPA H13 or H14 options.

Rabbit Air

Best for: Matching a purifier to the room's look: the MinusA2 can hang on a wall and take Artists Series front panels and a customised filter option.

Winix

Best for: Buying a certified refurbished air purifier, or replacement filters and humidifiers, from a maker whose menu lists all four.

Shape, room size and the filter routine

Here's what's easy to miss: purifier makers organise their ranges by shape, by room size, by the HEPA grade they name and by how replacement filters reach you. GermGuardian's menu splits 'Tower Air Purifiers' from console, table top and pluggable ones. Levoit lets you filter by 'Small Room', medium room and large room. Medify Air names 'True HEPA H13' on its models.

Then there's the routine you'll live with. Hathaspace says: 'We'll send clean filters direct to your door, on schedule'. AirDoctor sells 'HVAC Filters' beside its replacement filters, and Winix lists 'Certified Refurbished Air Purifiers' next to its filters. Pick the shape and the filter routine before the badge.

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

  • Shape: tower, console, table top or pluggable, depending on where it'll sit.
  • Room size: the small, medium or large room groups a maker uses on its own menu.
  • Filter grade: the HEPA wording a maker names on the exact model, such as True HEPA H13 or H14.
  • Filter routine: a subscription, a refill finder, or replacement filters you order yourself.

Purifiers that share a shelf with fans and humidifiers

Several of these brands sell more than purifiers. Dyson lists air purifiers alongside fans, humidifiers and heaters. Blueair shows 2-in-1 purify and humidify models, and one maker here sells humidifiers under the same roof as its purifiers.

Looks count too. Rabbit Air's MinusA2 can hang on a wall to save floor space and take decorative front panels. If the purifier's going in a living room rather than a cupboard, that's worth a look.

Questions before you buy an air purifier

  1. Which room is it for, and which size group does the maker put that room in?
  2. Do I want a tower, a console, a table top unit or a pluggable one?
  3. Which HEPA grade does the maker name on this exact model?
  4. How will I get replacement filters: subscription, finder or one-off orders?
  5. Would a refurbished unit do the job?
  6. Do I want it to humidify as well, or hang on a wall?

Do you make air purifiers? Tool makers can ask to be considered for a featured place on this list.

My advice for choosing an air purifier

Measure the room and decide where the purifier will sit, then pick the shape that fits that spot. Next, check the filter routine you're signing up for, because you'll live with it long after the box is recycled. If you'd rather not think about filters at all, a maker that sends them on a schedule takes that job off your hands. And read any coverage or clean-air number on a purifier page as the maker's own claim.

If you're improving a home as well as its air, my list of home improvements that add value is a good next stop. And if you run a team, here's the role of a clean environment in employee wellness.

Frequently asked questions

What shapes do air purifiers come in?

On these makers' own menus: console, table top, tower and pluggable purifiers, and one maker sells a model made to hang on a wall. Pick the shape that suits the spot you have in mind.

How do I get replacement filters?

Pages here sell replacement filters beside the purifiers. One sends clean filters to your door on a schedule, and its refill finder shows only the filters that fit your machine.

Which of these name a HEPA grade?

One maker lists True HEPA H13 or H14 options on its models, and another calls its machines Smart True HEPA purifiers. Check the exact grade on the model page before you buy.

Can I buy a refurbished air purifier?

Yes. Two makers here list certified refurbished purifiers on their menus. Check the maker's own page for which models are available.

Do any of these purifiers also humidify?

One maker here lists 2-in-1 purify and humidify models. Several others sell humidifiers as separate machines beside their purifiers.

Are these air purifiers ranked?

No. The list is alphabetical and in no particular order. Each entry says what the maker sells, so you can shortlist by shape, room size and filter routine.
