The best AI tools for hotels answer guests on every channel, handle phone calls and reviews, run guest apps and upsells, win more direct bookings and keep the back office in order. Most are built for hospitality alone. Ten options follow in no particular order.
Guests don't keep office hours. The question about parking arrives at midnight, the late check-out request lands mid-shift, and the booking enquiry comes in on WhatsApp while reception is full.
The ten tools below make sure someone, or something, answers. They're listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and every description comes from the vendor's own website, read this week. For a smaller property, my guide to AI for hotels and bed and breakfasts covers where to begin.
Hotel AI tools at a glance
I checked the free plan column on each tool's own website, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the site names a free plan, a free version, a free account or a free way to start. Trial only means a time-limited trial. Not stated means the pages I read named neither, even where there's a button inviting you to try it, so check the vendor's page before you sign up.

What the EU AI Act asks of hotel chatbots
The European Commission's page on the AI Act says the law introduces specific disclosure obligations to preserve trust. For instance, when people use AI systems such as chatbots, they should be made aware that they're interacting with a machine so they can take an informed decision.
For hotels with European guests, that means the chatbot or AI phone agent should say it's an AI at the start. It's good service anyway: guests are more forgiving of a machine that admits it's one, and more likely to ask for a person when they need one.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
Guest-facing AI or back-of-house AI?
Guest-facing tools answer questions, take bookings and sell upgrades across chat, phone and messaging apps. They pay off fastest where reception is short-staffed.
Back-of-house tools run the property system, accounting and reporting. They suit groups and owners managing more than one hotel.
Data tools sit between the two, turning stays into loyalty and direct bookings so less of the margin goes to online travel agents.
Questions to ask a hotel AI vendor
- Does it connect to your property management system?
- Which channels does it cover: web chat, WhatsApp, email, phone?
- Does it tell guests they're talking to an AI?
- How quickly can staff take over a conversation?
- Can it answer in every language your guests speak?
- Where is guest data stored, and for how long?
If your sector is different, our hub of software lists by industry gathers lists for most trades.
Signs your front desk can't keep up
- Messages wait until morning. Let AI reply overnight.
- The same questions arrive all day. Automate the answers.
- Upgrades are never offered. Prompt them before arrival.
- Most bookings come through travel sites. Build direct ones.

My advice for hoteliers trying AI
Start where guests wait longest. Read a week of unanswered messages and missed calls, then trial one tool on that channel only. Make sure it hands over to a person the moment a guest is unhappy.
Then look at the bigger picture. My piece on how AI is changing travel and hospitality shows where the rest of the industry is heading.
Frequently asked questions
How are hotels using AI?
Common uses are answering guest messages and calls, running guest apps and check-in, selling upgrades, building direct bookings and automating accounting and reports.
Do hotel chatbots have to say they're AI?
Under the EU AI Act, the European Commission says people should be made aware when they're interacting with a chatbot. It's a sensible rule for every hotel.
Can AI answer hotel phone calls?
Yes. Some tools here handle calls as well as messages, and pass complex requests to staff.
Will AI help with direct bookings?
Several tools here are built to turn chats and guest data into direct bookings, which keeps more of each stay with the hotel.
Are there free AI tools for hotels?
Most tools here offer a demo or a trial rather than a free plan. The free plan column above shows what each vendor's site said when I checked.
Will AI replace hotel staff?
It takes on repetitive questions and admin. Guests still remember the person who welcomed them.
