AI Photo Booths (2026): 9 Options for Events and Operators

An AI photo booth takes a guest's photo and transforms it with artificial intelligence, into a glamour portrait, an illustration, a themed scene or a swapped background. You can hire one for an event or run your own with the right software. Nine options follow in no particular order, covering both.

A classic photo booth gives guests a strip of photos and a prop moustache. An AI booth gives them a portrait in the style of a painting, a movie poster or a themed world, before they've left the booth. It's why they've become a fixture at weddings, product launches and corporate parties.

The nine options below are listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and every description comes from the company's own website, read this week. Some are rental firms that bring the booth to you, and others sell the software or hardware for operators. For a wider look at the trend, my piece on how AI photo booths are transforming guest experiences sets the scene.

AI photo booth options side by side

I checked the free plan column on each company's own website, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the page names a free plan, a free version, a free account or free use. Trial only means a time-limited trial. Not stated means the page I read named neither, so check the tool's own site before you sign up.

Guest photos are personal data

It's easy to forget that a booth is collecting pictures of people. The Information Commissioner's Office explains that personal data is information that relates to an individual who is identified or identifiable, directly or indirectly, and a clear photo of a guest's face fits that description.

Work with me

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

So whether you hire a booth or run one, be clear with guests about where their photos go, who'll see them and how long they're kept. A short sign beside the booth does the job, and it's one less thing to worry about after the event.

Questions to ask before you book a booth

  1. Which AI effects are included, and can they match the event's theme?
  2. Do guests get prints, a digital copy, or both?
  3. How long does each guest wait for their transformed photo?
  4. Where are the images stored, and when are they deleted?
  5. Does someone stay with the booth to help guests all evening?

Hiring a booth or running your own

If you're planning one event, hiring is simpler. The rental firm brings the hardware, runs the software and handles the guests. If you run events or a booth business, buying your own hardware and software gives you control over the effects and the branding, and every event after the first one pays you back in time saved.

Do you make AI photo booths or event photo apps? Tool makers can ask to be considered for a featured place on this list.

My plain advice on choosing an AI photo booth

Decide first whether you're hiring for one event or building a booth business, because the options are completely different. For a single event, ask a rental firm for examples of the AI effects in action. For a business, try the software before you commit, and in both cases tell guests what happens to their photos.

If you're a wedding planner pulling an event together, my guide to AI tools that save wedding planners time covers the rest of the job.
