AI Image Denoisers (2026): 10 Tools to Remove Photo Noise

The best image denoiser depends on your photos and how much control you want. Some free online tools clean a single grainy shot in one click, some process a whole batch, and some desktop apps handle high-ISO camera files for professional work. Ten AI denoisers follow, in no particular order.

Noise is the speckled grain you'll see in photos taken in low light, at high ISO or on a small phone sensor. AI denoisers try to remove it while keeping edges, skin and fabric texture, which older noise reduction tools often smeared into a painted look. That's the bit that's changed, and it's why they're worth a second look.

The ten tools below are listed alphabetically and in no particular order. Every description comes from the tool's own website, read this week. If you need a full editor rather than one fix, my guide to the best AI photo editors covers the wider choice.

AI image denoisers at a glance

I checked the free plan column on each tool's own website, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the page names a free app, a free version, a free plan, free listing or free use. Trial only means a time-limited trial. Not stated means the page I read named neither, even where there's a download button, so check the tool's own page before you sign up.

A denoiser can only work with what you give it

The more image information a file holds, the more a denoiser has to work with. Apple Support says ProRAW gives you more flexibility when editing exposure, colour and white balance. It also says they're 10 to 12 times larger than HEIF or JPEG files.

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

So if you know you'll be shooting in a dark room and cleaning up later, shoot RAW on a phone or camera that supports it, and make sure you've got the storage. For quick social posts, a standard JPEG and a one-click online tool are usually enough, and you won't need anything fancier.

Questions to ask before you choose a denoiser

  1. Does it run online, on your phone, or as desktop software?
  2. Can it process a batch, or one image at a time?
  3. Does it accept RAW files, or only JPEG, PNG and WebP?
  4. Does it keep fine texture, or smooth everything?
  5. Does the free version add a watermark or limit resolution?
  6. Where do your uploaded photos go, and for how long?

How to denoise without ruining a photo

Start with the lowest strength that removes the grain you can see at normal viewing size, then zoom in on eyes, hair and text to check nothing's turned to plastic. Denoise before you sharpen, not after, or you'll sharpen the noise. And keep the original, because you can always run it again with different settings if you don't like the first try.

The same rules apply to footage. My guide on enhancing video with AI tools explains how they differ for moving images.

Do you make AI image denoisers, photo enhancers or noise reduction tools? Tool makers can ask to be considered for a featured place on this list.

My plain advice on choosing an image denoiser

Use a free online tool for the odd grainy phone shot, and keep a desktop app for serious camera work where detail matters. There's no point paying for power you won't use. If you sell products, pick a tool built for product photos. And whatever you use, compare the result against the original at full size before you post it.

Better light still beats better software. Open the curtains before you reach for the denoiser.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best image denoiser?

It depends on your photos. Free online tools suit quick fixes, batch tools suit lots of images, and desktop apps suit high-ISO camera files.

Is there a free AI image denoiser?

Yes. Several tools here name free use on their own website. Check the free plan column for each.

What causes noise in photos?

Noise usually comes from low light, high ISO settings or small phone sensors, and shows up as speckled grain.

Should I shoot RAW if I plan to denoise?

RAW files hold more image information for editing. Apple says ProRAW files are 10 to 12 times larger than HEIF or JPEG, so plan for storage.

Should I denoise or sharpen first?

Denoise first, then sharpen, so you don't sharpen the noise.

Can I denoise a batch of photos at once?

Some tools here process multiple images in one upload, which saves time on a whole shoot.
