The best AI CRM is the one that removes data entry for your team and gives sensible suggestions without making decisions it shouldn't. Some are built around AI from the start, recording meetings and updating records for you; others add AI scoring and agents to a familiar pipeline. Ten follow in no particular order, plus how to choose safely.
Most CRMs fail for one boring reason: nobody keeps them up to date. Salespeople would rather sell than type notes, so records go stale and the pipeline turns into fiction. That's the problem AI in a CRM is meant to fix, and it's the test I'd hold every option to.
These are ten AI CRMs in no particular order, sorted alphabetically, from new AI-native systems to established CRMs that have added AI agents and scoring. Each description comes from the tool's own website, re-checked today. If your current data is a mess, my short guide to cleaning up CRM data is worth an hour before you move anything across.

The UK GDPR line your CRM's AI shouldn't cross
Here's the one I'd want every sales manager to know. The ICO's guidance on automated decision-making explains that under Article 22 of the UK GDPR, a decision made solely by automated means that has legal or similarly significant effects on someone is only allowed when it's necessary for a contract, authorised by law, or based on the person's explicit consent. Even then, you must tell people about the processing and give them simple ways to ask for a human to step in or to challenge the decision.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
For most sales teams, AI lead scoring and suggested next steps are fine, because a person still decides what happens. The risk comes when the CRM's AI is allowed to act alone on something that matters to the individual, such as turning someone down for credit or terms. Keep a human in the loop for those calls, and write down where the AI only suggests and where it acts.
AI-native or AI added on?
- AI-native CRMs start from meetings, emails and calendars and build the records for you. Lovely for small teams who hate data entry, but younger products.
- Established CRMs with AI add scoring, summaries and agents to a pipeline your team may already know, with more integrations behind them.
- Chat-led CRMs put AI inside messaging apps, which suits businesses that sell through WhatsApp or Instagram.
How to trial an AI CRM in a fortnight
- Pick one real pipeline, such as new enquiries, and import only those contacts.
- Connect email and calendar for two or three people, not the whole team.
- Record a handful of real calls and check the summaries against what was said.
- Look at what the AI filled in by itself and what still needed typing.
- Check where the AI only suggests and where it can act on its own, and switch off anything you're unsure about.
- Ask the people who used it whether they'd keep using it without being told to.
If you want the AI's scores to mean something, agree what a good lead looks like first. This lead scoring cheat sheet helps you set that out.
Questions worth asking in an AI CRM demo
- Where does the AI get its information, and can I see the source for each suggestion?
- Which actions can the AI take without a person approving them?
- Can I switch individual AI features off for some users?
- How are call recordings stored, and who can see them?
- What happens to my data and recordings if we leave?
Call recording is where many teams slip up, so read my take on the consent question with AI notetakers before you switch it on.

My plain advice on choosing an AI CRM
Start with the job you most want gone. If it's typing up calls, look at the CRMs that record and summarise meetings. If it's knowing which deal to chase, look at scoring and deal insights. If your sales happen in chat apps, start with a messenger CRM. Then use a free plan or trial with real deals, because demo data always looks tidy.
And be clear with your team about what the AI is allowed to do on its own. Suggestions are helpful; silent automated decisions about people are where the legal and trust problems start. A CRM your team trusts is one they'll keep updated, and that's the whole point.
Frequently asked questions
What is an AI CRM?
A customer relationship manager that uses AI to fill in records, summarise calls and emails, score leads or suggest next steps, so your team spends less time on admin.
Is there a free AI CRM?
Yes. Some AI-native CRMs and some established CRMs describe free plans or free editions, usually with limits on users or AI credits.
Can AI in a CRM make decisions about customers?
It can score and suggest. Under the UK GDPR, solely automated decisions with significant effects on people are restricted, so keep a human involved in those.
Do I need to tell people if my CRM records calls?
Tell people at the start of the call and follow the rules where you and they are. Many teams add a line to their meeting invites as well.
Will an AI CRM replace my sales team?
No. It removes admin and surfaces information, but people still build relationships and close deals.
How long does it take to move to a new CRM?
A small team can move one pipeline in a couple of weeks. Full migrations with custom fields and automations take longer, so plan in stages.
