The best Leapsome alternative depends on which modules your managers use. Some tools focus on reviews and goals, some on employee surveys and listening, some on OKRs, and some are HR systems with performance built in. Check what your team opens each quarter first, because a tool that covers only part of it turns the rest into a second subscription.
Before you look at a single alternative, open your Leapsome admin and write down which modules your managers used last quarter. Leapsome is a modular HR and people platform covering performance, engagement and related people processes, and that list is the quickest way to see what you'd need to replace.
That list decides everything that follows. The nine tools below are in no particular order, starting with a table so you can see at a glance which ones cover the jobs on your list.
Nine people platforms in one table
| Tool | Main job | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Betterworks | Enterprise performance management | Enterprises linking goals, feedback and skills |
| Culture Amp | Employee listening and performance | Surveys and culture insight alongside performance |
| Effy AI | Performance reviews with AI | Small teams running 360s and reviews with AI |
| HiBob | HRIS with people tools | An HR system of record covering payroll |
| Lattice | Performance and HR platform | Managing people and performance in one place |
| Peoplebox | OKRs and talent management | OKRs connected to Jira |
| PeopleGoal | Goals and performance reviews | Highly customisable review workflows |
| Perceptyx | Enterprise listening platform | Large-scale listening, learning and action |
| Perdoo | OKR and strategy software | Strategy execution through OKRs |
Reviews and goals, listening, or all-in-one HR
Reviews and goals. Lattice manages people and performance together. Betterworks is pitched at enterprise teams, connecting goals, feedback and skills. PeopleGoal is the one to look at if your review process is unusual and needs custom workflows. Effy AI focuses on 360s and reviews for smaller teams, with AI-written reports.
OKRs and strategy. Perdoo is dedicated OKR and strategy execution software. Peoplebox combines OKRs with talent management and says its OKRs update from Jira, which suits engineering-led companies.
Listening and surveys. Culture Amp starts from employee surveys and culture insight, with performance alongside. Perceptyx is an enterprise listening platform that connects listening, learning and activation.
All-in-one HR. HiBob is an HR system of record covering HR, payroll and finance. It's here for companies that would rather run performance inside their HRIS than keep a separate people platform.

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
Perdoo
Best for: Leadership teams who want OKRs and strategy execution in a dedicated tool rather than as one module of an HR suite.
One platform or two point tools?
This is the trap with replacing a modular platform. Leapsome spans reviews, goals, engagement and more in one place. Many of the alternatives above do one or two of those jobs very well: a survey-led tool, an OKR tool, a review tool. Pick one of those, and whatever it doesn't cover becomes a second subscription, a second login for managers and a second place for data to drift.
That isn't always bad. A focused tool can be far better at its one job, and some teams happily run a review tool alongside a separate survey tool. It just needs to be a choice you make on purpose, not something you discover three months after the switch.
- List every module your managers opened in the last quarter, and how often.
- Mark each one as essential, nice to have, or unused.
- Shortlist tools that cover every essential module, and decide openly whether a second tool is acceptable for the rest.
- Trial two replacements with a real review cycle or a real pulse survey, using your own questions and a real team.
My advice for HR leads replacing Leapsome
Don't let a feature grid choose for you. Start from that module audit, and you'll know within minutes whether you need a full people platform, a focused point tool, or performance built into your HR system. If reviews and goals are all you run, a focused tool can handle them with less admin.
Then test with real data. A review cycle with real managers, or a survey with real questions, shows you more than any demo. If you want more choice in each group, my lists of performance and engagement platforms and performance management software go wider. Rules on employee data and monitoring vary by country, so check your regulator's guidance before rolling out new surveys or AI-written reports.
And when you've chosen, move your last two review cycles across if you can. Managers write better reviews when they can see what was said last time.
Do you make performance management or HR software? Tool makers can ask to be considered for a featured place on this list.

Frequently asked questions
What should I look for in a Leapsome alternative?
Start with the modules your managers use, such as reviews, goals, surveys or OKRs. Then check whether one tool covers them all or whether you'd need two.
Is an OKR tool the same as performance management software?
Not quite. An OKR tool tracks company and team objectives and key results. Performance management software usually adds reviews, feedback and development plans for each person.
Can an HRIS replace a performance platform?
Some HR systems include performance tools, which suits companies that want one system of record. Dedicated platforms usually go deeper on reviews, goals and surveys.
Can I move past performance reviews to a new tool?
Many tools import goals and review history from spreadsheets or through support. Ask before you switch, because managers find past reviews useful when writing new ones.
Are AI-written performance reviews a good idea?
They can save managers time on drafts, but someone still needs to check and own every review. Rules on employee data vary by country, so check your regulator's guidance.
