The right WooRank alternative depends on where you are with a client: a quick audit to win a prospect, a fuller suite once they sign, or a reporting tool for retained work. Many freelancers pair two, and the best test is a report you'd send without editing.
Who this list is for: freelancers who win clients with an audit
Sending a prospect a short audit of their own website is one of the oldest ways to win SEO work, and it still works when it's done well. A good report shows the owner three things they didn't know about their site, explains why each matters and makes the next step obvious. A bad one is forty pages of red warnings that nobody reads.
I've written this for freelancers and small agencies who use WooRank or a similar tool for those reports, then need something to run the work once the client signs. Some of the options below are quick audit tools, some are full suites, and some exist to make reporting easier.
The twelve grouped by stage of the client relationship
- The first audit you send a prospect: Nibbler, Seobility, SEOmator and Sitechecker are the audit and monitoring options to test for a short prospect report.
- The work once they sign: Mangools, Moz, SE Ranking and Semrush are the broader SEO suites, so check which research and tracking features each includes.
- Reporting and fixing at scale: AgencyAnalytics and Raven Tools are the reporting tools, while Alli AI and Link Whisper are aimed at SEO and internal linking work.
You probably don't need one from every group. A freelancer with five clients might use a single suite for everything. A small agency often keeps a quick audit tool for sales and a separate reporting tool for retained clients.

What a prospect audit should cover
- Can search engines crawl and index the important pages?
- Do titles and descriptions match what people search for?
- How fast do key pages load on a phone?
- Does the site use structured data so search engines understand it?
- What are the three fixes that would make the biggest difference this quarter?
That fourth point is often skipped. Schema.org's getting started guide explains how to add structured data to a page using Microdata, which helps search engines understand what the page is about, whether that's a product, a local business or an event. When you trial an audit tool, check that it reports on structured data and flags missing or broken markup, because it's an easy, visible win to show a prospect.
Turning a report into a conversation
Owners rarely buy because of a long list of problems. They buy because you showed them you understand their business. Cut the report to the issues that affect their customers, put a plain sentence under each one about what it means, and finish with what you'd do first. White-label branding helps, but a clear story helps more.

My advice for freelancers picking an audit tool
Choose the tool that produces a report you'd be happy to send without editing, then pair it with whatever you need to do the work. Run each shortlisted tool on a site you know well, so you can spot false alarms, and drop any that bury the important issues under noise.

Frequently asked questions
What should an SEO audit for a prospect include?
Crawling and indexing, titles and descriptions, mobile speed, structured data and the top three fixes. Keep it short and explain what each issue means for their customers.
Can I put my own branding on audit reports?
Many audit and reporting tools offer white-label reports with your logo and colours. Check the vendor's own page for which plans include it.
Do I need a full SEO suite as a freelancer?
Not always. A quick audit tool can win the work and a smaller suite can run it. Larger suites make sense once you manage many clients or need deep research data.
How do I avoid sending a report full of false alarms?
Run the tool on a site you know well first, so you learn which warnings matter. Then edit reports down to the issues that affect the prospect's visitors.
