Best Local Rank Trackers (2026): 9 for Maps, Packs and AI Search

The best local rank tracker depends on what you need to see. Some tools scan a map from many points around a business, some track local pack positions for chosen keywords, and others tuck local rankings inside a wider platform for listings, reviews or agency reports. Pick the view you need first, then compare the tools that offer it.

Local rank tracking sounds like one job, but the tools sold under that name do quite different things. A few scan a grid of points on a map. Others report a ranking for each keyword and location. And some are platforms or services where tracking is one part of a bigger offer.

This list covers nine local rank trackers, platforms and services, using only what each maker's own website says, read on 2 Nov 2026 (as of Nov 2026). It's alphabetical and in no particular order. There are no accuracy, scan or customer numbers here: it's about what each one tracks and who it's for.

Map scans, single rankings and the services around them

Here's what a searcher wouldn't guess: 'local rank tracker' covers several different products. Grid My Business says it lets you 'track local SEO rankings on the map and in AI search'. Local Falcon calls itself an 'AI visibility and local rank tracker'. LocalViking's menu lists a 'GMB rank tracker' inside a tool for managing Google Business Profiles, and Localo lists a 'Local Rank Checker' among its local SEO tools.

Then there are entries that aren't trackers at all, but sit around local ranking: a reporting platform, a listing and reputation platform, a data platform and an agency. They're here because someone searching for a local rank tracker may need one of them more than another dashboard.

  • Map grid scans: rankings checked from many points on a map around a business.
  • Keyword and location tracking: local pack, map and organic positions for chosen keywords.
  • Platforms and services: reporting, listings, data or an agency, with local rankings as one part.

For ordinary web results rather than the map, see these Google rank checkers.

Geo-grid scans across a map

If you want to see your ranking street by street, look for geo-grid or heatmap features. Whitespark asks 'Looking for geo-grid rank tracking?' and says its grid tool helps you understand how your business ranks everywhere your customers are searching from.

GeoRanker lists a Local Heatmap beside its rank tracker in an SEO workspace, and its SERP API captures organic results, ads, Maps and the Local Pack. That makes it as much a data source for developers as a tool for local SEOs, so it's worth a look if you want to build your own reports.

Local rankings inside a wider platform

Some businesses don't want a separate tracker at all. Synup bundles local SEO with listings, review monitoring, social posts and store locators, run through an AI agent it calls Sydekick. It's built for multi-location brands, franchises and agencies, so rankings sit beside everything else a location needs.

AgencyAnalytics is a reporting platform first. It pulls client data from many marketing platforms into dashboards and white-labeled reports, with a rank tracker for daily keyword rankings and a multi-location roll-up for franchise clients. If you report to clients every month, that's the job it's built for.

When an agency does the tracking for you

Not every business wants to read a grid. Map Ranks is an agency, not software: its page says 'We Optimize Local Businesses to Rank Higher on Google Maps', and that it regularly checks your rankings and sends weekly reports. If you'd rather hand the whole job over, that's a different purchase from a tracker you run yourself.

The useful question here is who'll act on the numbers. A tracker gives you data. A platform gives you data plus tools to fix listings and reviews. An agency does the fixing for you. Be honest about which one you'll keep using.

Questions to ask before you track local rankings

  • Do I need a map grid view, or one ranking per keyword and location?
  • Am I tracking one location, or many locations and franchises?
  • Do I serve customers at their address, across a service area?
  • Do I also want to see visibility in AI answers, not just the map?
  • Will I report rankings to clients, and do I need white-label reports?
  • Do I want software I run myself, or a team that does the work?

Do you make a local rank tracker or local SEO platform? Tool makers can ask to be considered for a featured place on this list.

My advice on picking a local rank tracker

Decide who'll act on the data before you choose. If you run local SEO yourself, a geo-grid tracker shows you where you're visible on the map, and a keyword tracker shows the trend over time. If you manage many locations or clients, look at the platforms with reporting and listings built in. And if you'd rather not touch it, an agency that checks rankings and reports weekly is the honest choice. Some entries here are platforms or services around local ranking, not trackers, and that's fine as long as you know which one you're buying into.

Before you start tracking, work through my local SEO checklist, and keep my Google Maps ranking factors cheat sheet to hand when the numbers start moving.

Frequently asked questions

What is a geo-grid local rank tracker?

On the makers' pages here, it's a tool that shows how a business ranks for a keyword across many points on a map rather than from one spot. One maker describes checking rankings across multiple locations using a geo-grid map, and another says its grids show how you rank everywhere your customers search from.

Which of these track AI search as well as the map?

Two say so in their headlines. One tracks local SEO rankings on the map and in AI search, and one calls itself an AI visibility and local rank tracker covering the Local Map Pack, ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Overviews and AI Mode.

Are all of these local rank trackers?

No. Some are platforms or services around local ranking: one is a reporting platform for agencies with a rank tracker inside, one is a listing and reputation platform, one is a data platform with a SERP API, and one is an agency that optimizes local businesses for Google Maps.

Can I track local rankings in Bing as well as Google?

One tracker here lists Local Packs, Maps and organic results in Google and Bing, on desktop and mobile. Check each maker's page for the search engines it covers before you sign up.

Which of these suit agencies with many clients?

Several talk to agencies. One automates white-labeled client reporting with a client portal, one offers a multi-client command centre and a white-label portal, and one lists scheduled white label reporting.

Which of these suit a service area business?

One tracker says it fully supports service area businesses, so you can track rankings across your entire service area. Another maker, an agency, says it works with single-location and multi-location businesses in any industry.
