YouTube Daily Upload Limit (2026): Why There's No Number and How to Raise It

Yes, YouTube has a daily upload limit, but YouTube Help doesn't publish a number for it. As of Nov 2026 uploads, Shorts, playlists, posts and custom thumbnails each carry a daily limit that depends on your feature access tier and channel history, and if you see "Daily upload limit reached. You can upload more videos in 24 hours." you either wait a day or verify your way up a tier.

That's frustrating if you're planning a content calendar, because you can't build a schedule around a figure nobody publishes. What you can plan around is the tier system behind it, and that's what this page walks through.

Why YouTube won't give you a figure

YouTube's feature access page labels some features as having a "limited daily limit" and others a "higher daily limit". That's as specific as it gets. The limit moves with how much YouTube trusts your channel, which it judges by your verification status and your channel history. Two channels uploading the same number of videos on the same day can get different results.

So if you see an exact daily cap quoted in a forum or a video, treat it with caution. It isn't on YouTube's own Help pages, and YouTube says it has changed upload limits in the past.

Standard, intermediate and advanced access

Every channel sits in one of three feature tiers. Here's how you reach each one and what it adds:

TierHow you get itWhat it gives you
StandardStraight away when you create a channel, as long as you have no active Community Guidelines strikesUpload videos and Shorts, create playlists and use the Posts tab, each with a limited daily limit
IntermediateVerify your phone numberVideos longer than 15 minutes, live streaming on a computer, custom thumbnails and creating a podcast, with limited daily limits on streaming and thumbnails
AdvancedUsually automatic once you've built enough channel history, or right away by verifying with a valid ID or videoHigher daily limits on uploads, playlists, posts, computer streaming and thumbnails, plus Content ID appeals, embedded live streams, applying for monetisation, clickable links, pinned comments, chapters, A/B testing and more

Two catches sit in the small print. ID and video verification isn't available to all creators. And the intermediate tier is where most small business channels stall, because it only asks for a phone number, while advanced asks for either time or ID.

Advanced also covers adding a Related Video to a Short, RSS upload, multi-language features and adding more channels to your account. Applying for monetisation has its own extra rules, which I cover in the YouTube monetisation requirements.

Check your tier before you plan a big week

You can see which features you have in a minute. As of Nov 2026:

  1. On a computer, sign in to YouTube Studio.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click Channel.
  4. Click Feature eligibility.
  5. Look for Enabled next to each feature you have access to.

Not every feature is managed from that tab, and some have their own eligibility rules, so a missing item there doesn't always mean you're blocked.

When the limit reached message appears

The error in YouTube's list of common upload errors reads "Daily upload limit reached. You can upload more videos in 24 hours." What to do next depends on your tier:

  • On intermediate access: you might be able to verify your identity to move up to advanced access, which usually has higher limits.
  • On advanced access already: you'll need to wait 24 hours before using that feature again. There's no faster route in the Help page.
  • On standard access: phone verification moves you to intermediate. The walkthrough is in my guide to verifying a YouTube account.

One detail is worth knowing if you're mid-batch when it happens. If you close the upload window before choosing visibility settings, YouTube saves the video as private on your Content page in Studio. Nothing is lost; it just isn't public yet.

If you run several channels for clients or brands, mind the phone rule. A phone number can only be linked to 2 channels per year, so one office phone won't verify every channel you look after.

Fifteen at a time is a batch size, not a cap

YouTube Help says you can upload up to 15 videos at a time in Studio, by clicking Create, then Upload videos, and choosing your files. That number describes one upload window, not your daily allowance. You can hit the daily limit with fewer than 15, or upload more than 15 in a day across several batches, depending on your tier.

Work with me

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

Length is a separate limit again. By default you can upload videos up to 15 minutes long, and verified accounts can go longer. File size and maximum length are covered in how long a YouTube video can be. YouTube also says verifying your account helps with processing time, which matters when you're pushing a lot of video through at once.

Strikes can shrink your access

Feature access isn't permanent. To keep advanced features, YouTube says you need to follow the Community Guidelines and keep a positive channel history, and breaking its policies can mean a strike or restricted feature access. Standard features themselves depend on having no active Community Guidelines strikes. If a strike is behind a sudden drop in what you can do, my guide to Community Guidelines strikes explains what happens next.

How I'd plan a heavy posting schedule

I'd verify by phone on day one, even if you only post short videos, because it's the cheapest step up the tiers. Then I'd spread uploads through the week rather than loading a month of Shorts in one sitting, and schedule them to publish later. Skip any tool or trick that promises to get round the limit: the only routes YouTube Help names are verifying your identity and waiting 24 hours.

If your business publishes video in volume, the posting workflow behind that output is something I help teams automate, so a limit message never derails the week. I run AI training and workshops for teams, and help businesses with AI enablement and workflow automation, so the busywork runs itself and people get time back. Most of that work is with SaaS marketing teams and small businesses. Here's how we can work together.

Frequently asked questions

What is the YouTube daily upload limit?

YouTube doesn't publish a number. Uploads, Shorts, playlists and posts have a limited daily limit without verification and a higher daily limit with channel history or identity verification.

How long does the YouTube daily upload limit last?

The error says you can upload more videos in 24 hours. If you already have advanced feature access, you'll need to wait 24 hours before using that feature again.

How do I increase my YouTube upload limit?

Move up the feature tiers. Phone verification gets you intermediate access, and channel history or verifying with a valid ID or video gets you advanced access, which usually has higher limits.

Can I upload more than 15 videos a day on YouTube?

Fifteen is how many you can upload at a time in one Studio upload window, not the daily limit. Your daily allowance depends on your feature access tier.

Where can I see my YouTube feature access?

In YouTube Studio on a computer, go to Settings, then Channel, then Feature eligibility. Features you can use show as Enabled.
