YouTube Payment Methods by Country: Check, EFT, Wire or PayPal Hyperwallet

YouTube pays creators by check, EFT (electronic funds transfer), wire transfer or PayPal Hyperwallet, and which of those you're offered depends on the payment address in your AdSense for YouTube account. For example, as of October 2026 the United States shows EFT and PayPal Hyperwallet, while India shows wire transfer only.

Google's own table covers 208 countries and territories. On the YouTube side, wire transfer is listed in 173 of them, check in 125, EFT in 54 and PayPal Hyperwallet in 24. In 42 countries wire is the only option. Chile is the one place that lists all four, and Kiribati, Tonga, the Central African Republic and Chad show no YouTube method at all.

Look up your country

The page also lists SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) among the options that may be available, but the country table has no SEPA column, so check your own account if you're in Europe.

Countries with only one option

Some addresses get no choice at all. EFT is the only YouTube option in Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Malta, Mauritania, Norway, Poland, Portugal and Slovakia. Wire transfer is the only one in 42 countries and territories, including India, Thailand, Mauritius, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Madagascar, Fiji, Bhutan, Brunei Darussalam, Montenegro and San Marino.

If you're in a single-option country, there's nothing to compare. Your job is to get the bank details right first time, because a payment can't reach you until the one method you're offered is set up.

Why a friend's AdSense answer can be wrong for you

This is the bit that catches people out. Google's table has separate columns for website AdSense and for YouTube, and they don't match in 45 countries. Your YouTube earnings sit in their own payment account, so the methods can differ even when you live at the same address.

Canada and South Africa are the clearest cases. Website AdSense lists EFT and wire there, but YouTube lists EFT only. So if you've read about how AdSense payments work in Canada or AdSense payments in South Africa, remember those wire options belong to the website side. It also runs the other way: in Zambia and Cameroon, website AdSense shows wire only, while YouTube shows check and wire.

If you have both a website AdSense account and an AdSense for YouTube account, you'll choose a form of payment for each one when it reaches the threshold.

Where PayPal Hyperwallet is offered

Google describes PayPal Hyperwallet as available to publishers in specific countries. On the YouTube side it's listed for 24: Argentina, Aruba, Barbados, Bermuda, Bolivia, Brazil, Cayman Islands, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Puerto Rico, Turks and Caicos Islands, the United States and China. That's mostly the Americas. If your country isn't on that list, you won't see it as an option.

When the choice appears

You can't pick a method until your balance reaches the payment method selection threshold, which is smaller than the payment threshold. These are YouTube's printed values by reporting currency, as of October 2026:

Reporting currencyYou can choose a method atYou're paid at
US dollar$10$100
British pound£10£60
Euro€10€70
Canadian dollarC$10C$100
Australian dollarA$15A$100
Singapore dollarS$15S$150
South African randR100R1000
Indonesian rupiahRp130000Rp1300000

Choosing a method doesn't trigger a payout on its own: tax info, verification and the payment threshold are separate steps.

One change to know about: effective August 7, 2026, Google no longer supports euro checks. Checks in US dollars can carry on.

Setting up your method

Once you've reached the selection threshold, Google's steps are:

  1. Sign in to your AdSense for YouTube account.
  2. Go to Payments, then Payments info.
  3. Click Manage payment methods.
  4. Click Add payment method.
  5. Enter your bank account information.
  6. Tick Set as primary payment method if you want this to be your main one.
  7. Click Save.

Switching later works the same way, and here's the full walkthrough on updating your payment method in AdSense.

My advice

I'd look up your country here, then confirm it in your own AdSense for YouTube account, because the options shown follow your payment address. If you're in Canada, New Zealand or South Africa, don't wait for a wire option on YouTube: set up EFT. If you're in a check-and-wire country like Pakistan, Nigeria or the Philippines, you'll have both to choose from. And if a friend with a website tells you which method they use, check the YouTube column before you copy them. In 45 countries it's a different answer.

Frequently asked questions

What payment methods does YouTube use?

Check, EFT, wire transfer and PayPal Hyperwallet. Which ones you're offered depends on your payment address, and SEPA is also listed among options that may be available.

Does YouTube pay through PayPal?

Only through PayPal Hyperwallet, which YouTube lists in 24 countries and territories, including the United States, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Jamaica.

How does YouTube pay creators in India?

As of October 2026, India shows wire transfer only on the YouTube side of Google's payment table.

Why can't I choose a YouTube payment method yet?

The choice only appears once your balance reaches the payment method selection threshold, which is $10 for a US dollar account as of October 2026.

Are YouTube and AdSense payment methods the same?

Not always. The YouTube and website AdSense columns differ in 45 countries. In Canada and South Africa, for example, AdSense lists EFT and wire but YouTube lists EFT only.
