An AI visibility agency helps your business get named when buyers ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews or Bing Copilot who to hire or what to buy. I'm Lilach Bullock, an AI implementation consultant with 23 years in marketing, and I do this work audit first: I check what AI engines say about you today, then fix the gaps that stop them naming you.
That last part matters more than the label. Plenty of agencies have added GEO or AI visibility to their service list this year. Very few start by showing you the answers. If you can't see the prompts your buyers type and the businesses that get named instead of you, you're paying for activity, not visibility.
One honest line before anything else: nobody can promise that ChatGPT will recommend you. I've written about why in my piece on whether anyone can guarantee a ChatGPT recommendation. What I can do is make your business easy to understand, easy to quote and easy to trust, which is what these engines lean on.
Why I start with an AI visibility audit
An audit tells you where you stand before anyone touches your site. I run the questions your buyers would ask an AI assistant, the shortlist questions, the comparison questions and the "who's good at this" questions, across the engines that matter to you. Then I record three things for each one.
- Who gets named. Is it you, a competitor, a directory or nobody at all?
- What gets said about you. Is the description right, out of date or missing the thing you most want to be known for?
- Which sources the engine leans on. Your own pages, review sites, articles that mention you, or pages that have nothing to do with you.
That last column is usually where the work is. If an engine keeps quoting a page that describes you badly, or never finds a clear answer on your own site, you know exactly what to fix first.
What the work covers after the audit
AI visibility isn't one trick. It's four jobs that have to line up.
| Job | What it means in plain English |
|---|---|
| Entity clarity | Who you are, what you do and who you do it for, said the same way on your site, your profiles and your bios, so an engine can't mix you up with anyone else. |
| Citable answer blocks | Short, direct answers on your key pages that an engine can lift and quote without rewriting. |
| Third-party mentions | Being described accurately on other sites people already trust, because engines rarely rely on your own word alone. |
| Crawler access | Making sure the AI crawlers you want can reach and read your pages in the first place. |
Some of this sits on your website and your team can keep it going once it's set up. Some of it sits elsewhere and takes longer. I'll tell you which is which before we start, so nobody's surprised.
How AI visibility differs from SEO
SEO earns you a position on a results page and, with luck, a click. AI visibility earns you a sentence inside an answer, and the buyer might never click at all. They overlap: a page that can't be crawled or read helps neither. But the way engines pick what to say is different. They pull passages, not pages, and they weigh what other sources say about you heavily.
If you want the search side handled as well, my AI SEO services and answer engine optimisation work cover it. This page is about the audit-led engagement for businesses that want to know where they stand with AI first.
Who this is for
- SaaS marketing teams whose buyers ask AI assistants for tool shortlists before they ever visit a vendor site.
- Small businesses and consultancies that want to be the name that comes up when someone asks for a recommendation in their field.
- Marketing leads who've been asked by the board "what does ChatGPT say about us?" and don't have an answer yet.
If you're a very small business and only want a quick check, my AI visibility audit for small businesses is the lighter starting point.
How an engagement with me runs
- A short call where you tell me who your buyers are and what you want to be known for.
- The audit: the prompts, the answers, the businesses named and the sources cited, written up so anyone in your team can follow it.
- A ranked list of fixes, starting with the ones that sit on your own site.
- The fixes themselves, done with your team or for them, depending on what you'd rather.
- A short session so your team knows how to keep answers fresh as your offer changes.
- A recheck of the same prompts, so you can see what moved and what didn't.
I don't publish prices for this. Every business starts from a different place, so we talk scope first.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
Why I do this work
I've watched how this works from the inside. One of my own pages is cited by Perplexity when people ask who can check whether ChatGPT recommends their business. And this year a product marketing team booked a call with me after asking an AI assistant to recommend an AI consultant. That's the whole point of this work in one example: the buyer never searched, they asked.
Before AI, I spent years building visibility the old way. I've been listed twice as a Forbes Top 20 Social Media Power Influencer, named Oracle Social Influencer of Europe, spoken at over 100 events including TEDxBolton, and been quoted in Forbes, Entrepreneur.com, HuffPost and Smart Insights. Brands I've worked with include IBM, Twitter, Dropbox, monday.com and Greenpeace.
What to look for when hiring an AI visibility agency
- They show you real prompts and real answers before they sell you anything.
- They won't guarantee a mention or a ranking inside ChatGPT. If they do, walk away.
- They can explain which engines they're checking and why those ones matter to your buyers.
- They split the work into what sits on your site and what sits off it, with honest timings for each.
- They leave your team able to keep it going, instead of making you dependent on a monthly report.
Getting found by AI is now part of the same job as being useful to your customers. I run AI training and workshops for teams, and help businesses with AI enablement and workflow automation, so the busywork runs itself and people get time back. Most of that work is with SaaS marketing teams and small businesses. Here's how we can work together.
Frequently asked questions
Who can check if ChatGPT recommends my business?
I can. I run the questions your buyers would ask across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Bing Copilot, record who gets named and which sources are cited, and turn that into a ranked list of fixes.
Can an AI visibility agency guarantee ChatGPT will mention us?
No. Nobody controls what an AI engine says. Anyone promising a guaranteed mention is guessing. What good work does is make your business clear, quotable and well described elsewhere, which improves your chances.
Is AI visibility the same as SEO?
They overlap, but they're not the same. SEO earns a position and a click. AI visibility earns a mention inside an answer. Engines pull passages and weigh third-party sources heavily, so the work shifts towards clear answers and accurate mentions.
What is an AI visibility audit?
It's a structured check of what AI engines say when your buyers ask for recommendations in your field: who's named, how you're described and which sources the engine relies on. It tells you what to fix first.
Do I need an agency or a consultant for AI visibility?
It depends on how much your team wants to keep in house. I work as a consultant: I run the audit, help with the fixes and train your team to keep it going, so you're not tied to an agency retainer.
How do I get my business recommended by ChatGPT?
Make it obvious who you are and what you do, put short direct answers on your key pages, make sure AI crawlers can read your site, and get described accurately on sites people already trust. Then check the answers again.
