A WordPress job board plugin lets you post vacancies on your site and take applications, either as a careers page for your own company or as a job board where other employers post too. Decide which of those you're building first, then compare installs, rating counts and the last updated date on each plugin's listing.
Hiring through your own website has one big advantage: the people who apply already know who you are. A careers page on your site also gives every vacancy a link you own, rather than one that disappears when a job site listing expires.
Job plugins on WordPress fall into three groups, and the nine below cover all of them. They're in no particular order, listed alphabetically, and each description comes from the plugin's own WordPress.org listing.
How I chose these job board plugins
All nine are in the WordPress.org plugin directory and describe job listings, careers pages or job boards on their listing. I compared what each listing shows: active installs, the average rating and the number of ratings behind it, the last updated date and the author. Those numbers are as of Oct 2026 and change daily. The free plan column says Yes only where the listing names free use or a free version; Not stated means it didn't.

Careers page, multi-employer job board or hosted hiring tool
A careers page plugin is for your own vacancies. You add jobs, publish a clean page and collect applications, and that's the whole job. Most of the smaller plugins here are built for this.
A job board plugin lets other employers submit and manage their own listings while job seekers search them, which is what you need for a niche board or a recruitment site. One plugin here is built for recruitment agencies posting on behalf of several clients. And one is a hosted recruitment service that you run from the WordPress dashboard, so the hiring workflow lives with that service rather than in your site.
A perfect score from a single rating
This is the number I'd look at twice. Jobus shows the highest rating on this list, 5.0, but from 1 rating on 100+ active installs. WP Job Manager shows 4.4 from 237 ratings on 70,000+ active installs, as of Oct 2026 on the WordPress.org plugin directory.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
One person's five stars tells you that one person was happy. Two hundred and thirty-seven ratings averaging 4.4 tells you far more about what to expect. In a small category like this, the rating count and the install band are worth more than the average, and so is the last updated date: on this list they run from May 27, 2026 to Oct 29, 2026.
Which job plugin for which hiring setup
- A small business hiring now and then: a careers page plugin with simple application forms.
- A niche job board with several employers: a job board plugin where employers submit and manage their own listings.
- A recruitment agency posting for clients: a plugin whose listing names agencies and multiple clients.
- A team that wants a full hiring pipeline: a hosted recruitment tool you run from the dashboard.
- A site built with Elementor: a plugin whose listing names Elementor support.
Where a job board plugin stops
A job plugin gets vacancies in front of people and collects applications. It isn't an applicant tracking system, and once you're hiring regularly you'll want one. My roundup of applicant tracking systems compares the options.

My plain advice on choosing a job board plugin
Work out whether you're building a careers page or a job board for other employers, because most plugins here are good at one and not the other. For your own vacancies, pick a careers page plugin with recent updates and a decent rating count behind its average. For a board with several employers, choose a plugin built for employer submissions. And don't be swayed by a 5.0 from one rating.
Whatever you pick, write each vacancy the way you'd explain the job to a friend, with the pay range and location up front.

Frequently asked questions
What does a WordPress job board plugin do?
It lets you post vacancies on your WordPress site and collect applications. Some build a careers page for your own jobs, and some let other employers post and manage listings too.
What's the difference between a careers page and a job board?
A careers page shows your own vacancies. A job board lets several employers post jobs and lets job seekers search across all of them.
Can a WordPress plugin replace an applicant tracking system?
Not really. A job plugin collects applications, but an applicant tracking system is built for managing candidates through every stage of hiring.
Is there a free job board plugin for WordPress?
Two listings here name free use: one mentions a free version and one says you can get started for free. The rest don't state a free plan on their listing.
Why does a job board plugin with one rating show 5.0?
Because one person rated it five stars. On this list that plugin has 100+ active installs as of Oct 2026, so the average is very thin evidence.
