To watch Hulu on your TV, download the Hulu app on your smart TV or TV-connected device and log in, or choose Activate on a computer and type the code your TV shows into hulu.com/activate. You can activate as many supported devices as you like, but only two can stream at the same time on a standard subscription, as of October 2026.
Here's what trips people up. Activating a TV and streaming on it are two separate limits. There's no cap on how many devices you activate, but a third screen that tries to play at the same time may just show an error message. So if the TV in the bedroom suddenly won't play, check who else in the house is watching before you start troubleshooting.
Two ways to get Hulu onto a TV
| Method | How it works | When you'll use it |
|---|---|---|
| Activation code | Choose Activate on a computer on the TV, then enter the code on your phone or computer | Smart TVs and TV-connected devices that offer it |
| Email and password | Download the Hulu app and log in on the TV itself | Devices that don't have an activation code |
Some devices don't offer an activation code at all. On those, you simply log in with your email address and password.
How to activate Hulu on a TV with a code
- Launch the Hulu app on your TV.
- Select Log In on the Welcome screen, then choose Activate on a computer. The next screen shows your activation code.
- On your phone or computer, go to your Account page and find the Watch Hulu on Your Devices section, or head straight to hulu.com/activate. Log in if you're asked to.
- Enter the unique code that's on your TV screen.
- Give it about 30 seconds, and the TV should log you in on its own.
Every time a new device is activated on your account, Hulu emails you three details: what kind of device it was, where it was activated (city, state, country and so on) and the date and time. I'd never filter those emails out. If one lands and you haven't just set up a TV, you know straight away that someone else is using your login.
How many screens can play Hulu at once
A Hulu subscription lets you stream on two different screens at the same time, so one person can catch up on last night's episodes in one room while the rest of the family watches a film in another. Beyond that, it depends on what you've added, as of October 2026.
| Your setup | Screens that can stream at the same time |
|---|---|
| Hulu subscription | 2 |
| Live TV with the Unlimited Screens Add-on | Every device on your Home network, plus up to 3 mobile devices when you're out |
| Premium networks on Hulu (HBO Max, Cinemax, Paramount+ with SHOWTIME, STARZ) | 5 for that network's content, and up to 3 of those can be out-of-home mobile devices |
The Unlimited Screens Add-on is offered to Live TV subscribers who need more than two screens. The last row is the one that catches families out: even with unlimited screens on Live TV, shows from a premium network you've added can only play on five screens at once.
Seeing and removing the TVs on your account
Hulu keeps every device you've activated listed on your Account page, along with the date each one was activated. That makes it easy to clear out a TV you no longer use, or find one you don't recognise.
- Go to your Account page and log in if prompted.
- Under Your Account, find the Watch Hulu on Your Devices section and select Manage Devices.
- A pop-up lists every device tied to your account.
- Select Remove next to any device you no longer use or don't recognise.
If you're removing a device you don't recognise, Hulu suggests resetting your password or changing your email address too, just to be safe.
Logging out of every device at once
If you've forgotten to sign out on a TV somewhere, there's a log out everywhere option. It runs through your MyDisney login, so it signs you out across the services you use from The Walt Disney Family of Companies, not just Hulu.
- Sign in to my.disney.com.
- Select Access and Security.
- Click the Log out of everywhere button.
You're logged out of the device you're on straight away, but the rest can take up to 4 hours. You'll also be offered the same option whenever you change your email address or password, and any change to your MyDisney login details updates the login for your linked Disney services, with a confirmation email each time.

Live TV channels change with your location
If you watch Hulu with Live TV on your TV, you get 90+ channels, but what you see depends on where you are. Regional sports networks are set by your Home location, and local affiliate networks are based on your physical location. Some live events can be out-of-market or blacked out because of regional availability, blackouts and even the device you're watching on. Those rules come from the sports leagues and other rights holders. You can enter your zip code at any time to check your channel lineup, and the Live Guide shows whether a game may be unavailable.
When a TV won't activate
- Close and reopen your browser.
- Clear your browser cache.
- Try another supported browser for the activation page.
- If none of that works, contact Hulu, which offers live support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
My verdict on setting up Hulu on your TV
I'd use the activation code on any TV that offers it, because typing a long password with a remote is nobody's idea of fun. Once it's set up, open Manage Devices and remove anything you don't use, then keep those new device emails switched on. If your household fights over a third screen, Unlimited Screens only makes sense if you're already on Live TV; otherwise, two screens is what you get. For what each plan costs, here's the Hulu price breakdown. If you're choosing a live service, compare YouTube TV and Hulu Live TV side by side, and if your TV isn't smart yet, here's how Roku and Fire Stick compare.
