To update your Hulu payment method, go to your Account page, select Update Payment next to Payment Method, add the new card or PayPal account, and click Save Changes. That only works if Hulu bills you; if you pay through Amazon, Apple, Roku, Verizon or another partner, you change it with them, as of October 2026.
Who bills you decides almost everything on this page: whether you can change payment on Hulu, switch to annual billing, redeem a gift card or even see your renewal date there. You'll find your billing party in the Payment Information section of your Hulu Account page, so check that first.
Changing your card or PayPal
- Open your Hulu Account page.
- Select Update Payment next to Payment Method.
- Add your preferred payment method. With PayPal, you're redirected to submit it and then brought back to Hulu to confirm.
- Click Save Changes.
If a partner bills you, the steps vary by company. Hulu's list of billing partners is Amazon, Apple, Comcast Xfinity, Disney, Google, Kroger, HBO Max, Optimum, Roku, Spotify, T-Mobile and Verizon. If you're Hulu-billed and the update won't go through, contact Hulu; partner-billed subscribers need to go to their partner.

Paying for Hulu annually
Annual billing is only for Hulu (With Ads), paid a year at a time, and Hulu says it saves big compared with paying monthly. Hulu Premium, Hulu + Live TV and all the bundle plans are billed monthly.
- New subscribers sign up at Hulu.com/annual-offer; current Hulu-billed subscribers switch from the Account page.
- Monthly Hulu (With Ads) subscribers are charged immediately when they switch. From Hulu Premium or Hulu + Live TV, the downgrade and the annual charge happen when your current billing cycle ends.
- Switch during a free trial and you lose the rest of the trial and pay straight away.
- Once you've been charged, you can't move to a monthly plan or switch base plans; you'd need to contact Hulu.
- Select premium and partner add-ons are available, but they're billed monthly, so you may have two billing dates.
- Annual plans can't be paused, and they renew automatically one year after your first billing date.
- If the website won't let you make the switch, Hulu suggests trying another browser or clearing your browser cache.
Cancel an annual plan and you keep Hulu to the end of the annual cycle, unless you're on a free trial, which ends immediately. Add-ons cancel at the end of their own monthly cycle. If you want it to end straight away, go back to your Account page after the pending cancellation has started, but bear in mind refunds aren't issued when you cancel an annual subscription.
How automatic payments work
Every Hulu plan renews automatically, monthly or yearly, unless you cancel before the renewal date. If Hulu bills you, you can see your plan type, renewal date and upcoming charges on your Account page.
Two rules surprise people. You can't switch off automatic payments and keep Hulu, because they only stop when you cancel, and Hulu doesn't refund or credit part-used billing periods. If you're seeing multiple or unexpected charges, that's one for Hulu Support. And there's no option to move your renewal date: to change it, you cancel and then sign up again on the date you want to be billed. To see what you'll pay on each plan, here's the Hulu price guide.
Redeeming a Hulu gift card
You can buy Hulu gift cards from retailers in store and online, and redeem them at Hulu.com/Gift using the 10, 12 or 16-digit code on the back. As a new subscriber:
- Go to Hulu.com/Gift and enter your redemption code.
- Select REDEEM.
- Enter the email address for your Hulu account and select CONTINUE.
- Choose a password, review the Subscriber Agreement and select CONTINUE.
- Enter your birthdate and select SAVE & CONTINUE.
- Select your Hulu plan, review your order and select AGREE & SUBSCRIBE.
Already subscribed? In the Payment Information section of your Account page, enter the code under Gift or Promotional Code.
Watch the balance. Unless you add another payment method, a new account cancels automatically once the gift card's used up, and you can add one before or after it runs out. Certain premium add-ons can't be bought with a gift card at all; for a premium network add-on you'll need a U.S. credit or debit card on the account.

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
If a code won't work, check you're on the right redemption link, the numbers and letters match, you're billed by Hulu or an eligible partner, the code applies to your plan type, and it hasn't been used before.
My verdict on managing Hulu payments
I'd move to direct Hulu billing if you can, because it's the only way to get annual billing and manage everything from one Account page. I'd only take the annual plan if you're happy on Hulu (With Ads) for a full year, since there are no refunds and no switching back to monthly. And if you're paying with a gift card, add a backup card before the balance runs out so your account doesn't cancel itself. If you're on a bundle, here's what Disney+ bundles cost.
