CodeRabbit Alternatives (2026): 10 AI Code Reviewers

Teams that want deep, whole-codebase context on every pull request should shortlist the dedicated AI reviewers. Teams that also need code quality, coverage and security checks should look at platforms that added AI review to static analysis. If you already live in GitHub, its own coding agent can review pull requests too. Ten options follow in no particular order.

The AI code review market is consolidating fast. Reading the vendor pages for this list, one reviewer has joined a bigger delivery company, one is announcing a large funding round and one now leads with managed cloud agents rather than review.

The ten tools below are listed alphabetically, and every description comes from each vendor's own website, read as of Oct 2026. For the wider category, my guide to AI code review tools covers more options.

CodeRabbit alternatives at a glance

I checked the free plan column on each vendor's own website, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the page names a free plan, a free version or an open source edition. Trial only means it names a time-limited free trial. Not stated means the page I read named neither, so check the vendor's own site before you sign up.

Ten AI reviewers and code quality platforms

Codacy

Best for: Teams that want AI-generated code held to their own quality and security standards from the IDE to the pull request, with SAST, SCA and secret scanning.

CodeAnt AI

Best for: Security-minded teams that want line-by-line AI reviews on every pull request alongside SAST, SCA, secrets checks and AI pentesting.

cubic

Best for: Teams with complex codebases who want an AI reviewer that hunts for hard-to-find bugs across pull requests and the whole codebase, with a two-click install.

DeepSource

Best for: Anyone who wants high-signal, low false-positive findings from a mix of static analysis and AI agents, now under the Harness umbrella.

Ellipsis

Best for: Developers who want code review alongside coding and background agents on managed infrastructure, choosing their own harness, model and tools.

GitHub Copilot

Best for: Organisations already on GitHub who want an AI coding agent that also reviews pull requests and local changes for quality and security issues.

Graphite

Best for: Fast-moving teams that work in stacked pull requests and want AI reviews, a merge queue and a PR inbox in one platform.

Greptile

Best for: Engineering teams that want AI agents reviewing and testing pull requests with full context of the codebase, plus SSO and audit logs for enterprise use.

Qodo

Best for: Larger organisations that want multi-agent review enforcing their own standards on every pull request, drawing on codebase knowledge, PR history and requirements.

Sourcery

Best for: Small teams on GitHub or GitLab wanting reviews of every pull request within minutes, with a PR summary, review comments and suggested fixes.

Who still ships a stand-alone AI reviewer?

That's the question I'd ask first, because the vendor pages tell a story of consolidation:

Work with me

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

  • Greptile's page announces a Series B round led by Menlo Ventures, so it's well funded and focused on review.
  • DeepSource's page says it has joined Harness, a larger software delivery company.
  • Ellipsis now describes itself as managed cloud agents, with code review as one of three uses alongside coding agents and background agents.
  • One stacked pull request platform here now hosts Cursor Cloud Agents inside its product, so review is being folded into wider agent workflows.

None of that makes a tool worse today. It does mean you should ask each vendor where review sits on its roadmap.

Dedicated reviewer or quality platform with AI?

  • Dedicated AI reviewers read the pull request with context from the whole codebase and leave comments and suggested fixes. They're quick to install and focused on finding bugs.
  • Code quality and security platforms started with static analysis, coverage and dependency checks, then added AI review. You get one place for gates and findings, with AI on top.
  • Your Git host's own agent is the least effort if your team already uses it for coding, though it's one feature of a bigger product rather than a specialist.

Review tools work on pull requests, while everyday VS Code extensions covers the helpers that run inside the editor as you write.

How to run a fair AI review trial

  1. Pick five recent pull requests that shipped a bug, and see which tools would have caught it.
  2. Count the noise. A reviewer that leaves thirty comments nobody reads is worse than none.
  3. Check context. Ask whether it reads the whole repository or only the diff.
  4. Check where it runs: GitHub, GitLab or both, and whether your security team will approve it.
  5. Decide who owns the rules. Several tools let you encode your own standards, which matters once the team grows.

AI review sits alongside security scanning rather than replacing it. My guide to Snyk alternatives covers dependency and code security tools.

My plain advice on replacing CodeRabbit

Run two tools side by side on the same repository for a couple of weeks and let your engineers vote. Noise is what kills AI review, so the tool your team doesn't mute is the one to keep. If you also need quality gates and security checks, pick a platform that does both rather than stacking three bots on every pull request. And given how fast this market is moving, avoid long contracts until you're sure the product you chose is still the vendor's focus.

If you're choosing the coding side at the same time, my roundup of AI coding assistants pairs well with this list.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free CodeRabbit alternative?

Yes. At least two tools here name a free plan on their own pages, and several more offer a free trial. The free plan column shows which, as of Oct 2026.

What's the difference between AI code review and static analysis?

Static analysis checks code against fixed rules. AI code review reads the change in context and comments on logic, bugs and intent. Several platforms here now combine the two to cut down false positives.

Does GitHub have its own AI code reviewer?

Yes. GitHub's coding agent can review pull requests and local changes for quality and security issues before you open or merge them.

Do AI code reviewers work with GitLab?

Several do. At least one reviewer here installs on GitHub or GitLab in a couple of minutes, but check each vendor's integrations before you commit.

Will an AI reviewer replace human code review?

No. It catches bugs and style problems early, so people can spend their review time on design and intent. Treat it as a first pass, not the final say.
