The Notion Web Clipper saves a web page straight into a Notion page or database you choose. On a computer it's a browser extension for Chrome and Safari, and on a phone it works through the share sheet on iOS and Android, as of October 2026.
Here's the catch for Mac users. The Safari Web Clipper is no longer in the Apple App Store. You now install it from notion.com/web-clipper, and if you already have the old App Store version, the new one won't replace it on its own. You have to remove the old one first.
Where the Notion Web Clipper works
| Device | How it works, as of October 2026 |
|---|---|
| Chrome on desktop | Browser extension |
| Safari on Mac | Downloaded from notion.com/web-clipper, no longer from the App Store |
| iPhone and iPad | Share sheet in Safari or Chrome, iOS 13.0 or above |
| Android | Share sheet in Chrome, Android 7.0 or above, added automatically |
Installing it on Chrome
Use the Download the Chrome extension link on Notion's Web Clipper help page. Once it's in, you'll see a small Notion button just to the right of your browser's search bar. That's all there is to it.
Switching to the new Safari version
If you're starting fresh on a Mac, skip to step five. If you had the App Store version, do all of these, in order.
- Quit Notion Web Clipper if it's running, from the menu bar.
- Open Finder, then Applications, and drag Notion Web Clipper to the Trash.
- Empty the Trash.
- Open Safari, then Settings, then Extensions, and click Uninstall next to Notion Web Clipper if it still shows up.
- Go to notion.com/web-clipper and click Install for Safari.
- Open the downloaded DMG and drag Notion Web Clipper to Applications.
- Launch the app, and turn on the extension when Safari asks you to in Settings, then Extensions.
How to clip a page on desktop
- Log into Notion in your browser with the account you want to clip into.
- Click the Notion icon to the right of the search bar.
- Choose the workspace and the page or database to add it to. Search for it if it isn't in the default list.
- Change the page name in the text box if you want to.
- Press Save page, or Enter, then choose Open in Notion to go straight to it.
If you don't have anywhere to put clips yet, select + New links database in the Add to menu and the clipper creates one for you. If you'd rather design your own, here's how to create a database in Notion with the properties you want.
What lands in your database
When you clip a web page into a database, Notion adds a URL property automatically to record the original address, even if the database didn't have one before. After that you can add tags, other properties, comments and your own edits to the saved page.
You can't add tags while you're clipping, though. Notion's help says that's not possible at the moment, so you'll need to open the saved page in the database afterwards to add tags or set any other property.
Clipping on iPhone and Android
On iPhone or iPad, Notion has to be switched on in the share sheet once. After that it stays there.
- Open Safari or Chrome and tap the Share icon on the page you want, the box with an upward arrow.
- Scroll through the apps and select More.
- Turn on Notion access.
- Tap the Notion icon, give the page a title, choose the workspace and page, and tap Save.
On Android there's no setup step. Notion is already in Chrome's sharing options, so you tap the share icon, tap Notion, title the page, pick the workspace and page or database, and tap Save. On either phone, open the page you chose to see the clip, comment on it or add properties.
Saving photos and files from your phone
- Select the photos you want in Notion.
- Tap the Share icon at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Notion. On iPhone, if it's not there, scroll to More and turn it on.
- Give the image a title, choose the workspace, and tap Add to, picking the exact page or database.
One difference to know: when you clip local files to a database, no URL is added, because there's no web address to record.

What the Web Clipper can't do
| Limit | What it means |
|---|---|
| Only full browser pages and photos | It doesn't work from other apps, such as the Twitter app or the iOS Notes app, and shows This app is not supported |
| No tags while clipping | Add tags and properties after the page is saved |
| Formatting varies | Websites are built in different ways, so some clips won't look like the original |
| Some content can go missing | Notion asks you to report the URL so its team can tweak the clipper |
Notion says it's made sure clips from big sites such as Pinterest, Netflix and Wikipedia look right, and that it keeps improving the rest.
My verdict on the Notion Web Clipper
I'd point it at one links database instead of scattering clips across pages, because every clip then arrives with its URL and you can tag and sort them later. If you're on a Mac with the old App Store version, do the full Safari switch now rather than living with two copies.
