An AI text remover erases words, captions, logos or date stamps from an image and fills the gap so the picture looks untouched. Only a few tools have a page just for text; most are object removers that handle text too. Ten tools follow in no particular order, described from each vendor's own page.
A date stamp across a holiday photo, a caption burned into a screenshot, a supplier's logo on a product shot: text in the wrong place spoils an otherwise good image. AI makes it quick to remove, usually by brushing over the words and letting the tool rebuild what was behind them.
The ten tools below are listed alphabetically and in no particular order. Every description comes from each vendor's own website, read as of Oct 2026, and I've noted which ones work on video as well as stills.
AI text removers at a glance
I checked the free plan column on each vendor's own website, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the page names a free plan, a free version or free tools, or calls the product free. Trial only means the page names a time-limited free trial. Not stated means the page I read named neither, so check the vendor's own site before you sign up.

Text removal versus background removal
A text remover erases words, captions, logos or date stamps from inside a picture and fills the gap. A background remover does something different: it cuts the subject out and throws the background away. If that's what you need, my guide to removing an image background for free is the better read.

Only a few tools have a page just for text
Here's the catch I found reading the vendor pages. Only a handful treat text as its own job: one editor has a dedicated text remover page, one retoucher lists text in its page title alongside objects, people and defects, and one photo app lists a Remove Text tool. Most of the rest are general object removers that happen to work on text, or wider AI suites where text removal is one tool among dozens.
That matters less than it sounds. Erasing text works the same way as erasing any object: the tool fills the area with what it predicts was behind it. Where tools differ is in resolution, batch size and how clean the fill looks on busy backgrounds, so test the one you like on your own image.
Getting a clean result when you erase text
- Start with the largest, sharpest copy of the image you have. Resolution limits on free plans can soften the result.
- Brush a little wider than the letters, so no edge pixels are left behind.
- Work on busy areas in small passes rather than one big stroke.
- Zoom in before you export. Repeating patterns such as brick, fabric or tiles are where a fill gives itself away.
- Keep the original file, so you can compare and start again if you need to.
Only erase what you've got the right to
A watermark is often there because someone owns the picture. Removing one from an image you haven't licensed can break copyright law and the terms of the site you took it from. Use these tools on your own photos, on images you've licensed, or to clean scans, product shots and screenshots you're entitled to edit.

My plain advice on AI text removers
If you only need to wipe a date stamp or a caption now and then, a browser tool with a free plan will do it in seconds. If it's regular work, such as cleaning product photos, choose one with batch processing. For text burned into a video, you need a video tool, not a photo editor.
For bigger objects such as people and wires, my guide to photo object remover tools goes further, and my roundup of AI photo editors covers the wider editing kit.

Frequently asked questions
What is an AI text remover?
It's a tool that erases text, captions, logos or date stamps from an image and fills the area so it looks untouched.
Can AI remove text from a video?
Yes. Some tools here list a tool to remove text from video, and others remove watermarks or objects from video. A photo editor won't do it.
Is it legal to remove a watermark?
Removing a watermark from an image you don't own or haven't licensed can break copyright law. Use text removers on your own images or ones you have the right to edit.
Are there free AI text removers?
Several vendor pages here name a free plan, a free tool or free daily credits, shown in the free plan column, and some limit resolution on free use.
What's the difference between a text remover and a background remover?
A text remover erases something inside the image. A background remover keeps the subject and removes everything behind it.
