Logo Background Removers (2026): 10 Tools for a Clean Logo

A logo background remover cuts your logo away from its background so you can place it on a website, packaging or a banner. Most hand back a transparent PNG, but some fill the background with white instead, and the free limits differ. Ten tools follow, in no particular order.

A logo with a white box around it looks wrong on a coloured header or a dark product photo. Clearing the background takes seconds in a browser now, but the file you download decides whether the result works where you put it.

The ten tools below are listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and every description comes from the tool's own page, read this week. If you haven't designed the logo yet, my guide to the best free logo makers is the place to start.

Logo background removers compared

I checked the free plan column on each tool's own page, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the page names free use, free credits, a free download or a free version. Trial only means the page offers a free trial instead. Treat it as a snapshot: free limits change, so look at the tool's own page before you upload a big batch.

Ten logo background removers to try

BgEraser

FreeForAI

Best for: Turning a coloured logo background into plain white, with a 600 x 600 preview and a 1024 x 1024 HD download.

Best for: Logos headed for packaging or a website, since its logo page says results work at high resolution and cover all logo types.

LogoBackgroundRemover.com

Best for: Logo-only jobs, from a site built just for logos that suggests using the result as a watermark, a product overlay or a banner.

Media.io

Best for: Quick one-click removal in the browser, with a QR code on the page if you'd rather finish the job in the app.

Online PNG Tools

Best for: Personal projects only, since its free plan is for personal use and the tool locks once you reach the daily free limit.

Which tool for which logo job

  • A whole folder of brand logos: BgEraser.
  • A few logos a month: Stickerit.
  • A one-off logo for personal use: Online PNG Tools.
  • A site that does logos and nothing else: LogoBackgroundRemover.com.
  • Very large logo files: Pixelcut.

Transparent PNG or white fill: check what you get back

MDN Web Docs, in its image file type and format guide, says PNG is preferred over JPEG for more precise reproduction of source images, or when transparency is needed. That's why a logo saved back as a JPG brings a solid background straight back, even after a perfect cut-out.

Not every tool here gives you transparency at all. FreeForAI's tool is a logo background to white remover, so it replaces the background with white instead of leaving it empty, and its free preview is 600 x 600 against a 1024 x 1024 HD download. That's handy for a document with a white page, and the wrong file for a coloured one.

Free limits on logo tools

The free offers on these pages come in different shapes. One gives a set number of free credits each month, at one credit per image. One limits free use to personal projects and locks the tool once you reach a daily limit. One names a free download at 1000px resolution, and one desktop app names no sign-up or usage limits at all.

A logo is small, so a monthly credit allowance often covers it. A rebrand with dozens of logo versions is a different job, and that's where batch tools and download size start to matter.

  1. Use the biggest, sharpest version of the logo you have, not a screenshot.
  2. Decide whether you need a transparent file or a white background.
  3. Download as PNG and check the file name ends in .png.
  4. Drop the result onto a dark background to spot any leftover white edges.
  5. Keep the original file in case you need to start again.

My plain advice on logo background removers

Pick a tool that hands back a transparent PNG, test it on a dark background, and keep that PNG as your master file. If you only ever put the logo on white pages, a white fill tool is fine, but it's worth having both versions saved.

If you made the logo in Canva, my guide on how to make a transparent background in Canva walks you through the steps there.

Frequently asked questions

How do I remove the background from a logo for free?

Upload the logo to a free logo background remover, let it clear the background and download the result as a PNG. Several tools here name free use, free credits or a free download, so check the free plan column.

Why does my logo still have a background after I save it?

It's usually the file type. MDN Web Docs says PNG is preferred over JPEG when transparency is needed, so save the cleared logo as a PNG, not a JPG.

Can I remove the background from several logos at once?

Yes. One desktop tool here names batches of up to 20 files, and others mention bulk removal or an API for bigger jobs.

What can I use a logo with no background for?

The logo pages read for this list suggest watermarks, product image overlays, promotional banners, packaging and websites. Keep one PNG master copy so every use starts from the same clean file.
