AI Color Analysis Apps (2026): 10 Apps to Find Your Season

AI color analysis reads a selfie, looks at your skin, hair and eye colouring and places you in a colour season, then shows the shades that flatter you for clothes, makeup and hair. Most apps here use a 12-season system. Ten apps follow in no particular order, so you can find your palette without booking a consultant.

Colour analysis is the idea that some shades make your skin look brighter while others drain it. Traditionally you'd sit with a consultant who held fabric swatches up to your face. AI apps give you a quicker first look from a selfie, telling you whether you lean towards a soft summer, a deep winter or something in between.

The ten apps are listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and each description comes from the app's own App Store listing. These are colour season apps, not hair colour changers or hardware scanners.

The free plan column comes from each tool's own App Store listing, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the page names a free plan or free use, Trial only means a time-limited trial, and Not stated means the page named neither. Check the listing before you subscribe to anything.

StyleIt AI

Vivaldi Color Analysis

VividMe

Best for: Matching makeup to your skin tone, with a virtual try-on so you see the shade before you buy it.

Twelve seasons, not four

Most of these apps use the 12-season system rather than the classic four seasons. Blossom and My Color Analysis AI both say so on their listings. That's more precise, but it has a side effect: two apps can give you different names for similar colours.

Don't worry if they disagree on the label. Compare the swatches instead, and you'll often find they overlap.

A colour analysis selfie counts as personal data

The Information Commissioner's Office quotes the UK GDPR definition of personal data as any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. A colour analysis selfie is a close-up of your face, so it counts. Check the app's privacy policy before you upload, and look for what it says about storing and sharing your photo.

How to get a fair reading

  1. Take the selfie in daylight, near a window, out of direct sun.
  2. Remove makeup, or at least foundation, so the app sees your natural skin tone.
  3. Pull back dyed hair if it's very different from your natural shade.
  4. Turn off filters and beauty modes on your camera.
  5. Hold a white sheet of paper under your chin to check the light looks neutral.

Using your palette once you have it

A palette only helps if you use it. Save it to your phone, check new clothes against it before you buy, and start with the items closest to your face, like tops, scarves and glasses frames. You don't need to replace your wardrobe, just shop with it in mind from now on.

Do you make AI colour analysis or styling apps? Tool makers can ask to be considered for a featured place on this list.

My plain advice on AI colour analysis

Treat the app's season as a starting point, not the final word. Try two apps, compare the swatches rather than the labels, and test the colours against real clothes in daylight. If the results keep pointing the same way, you've found something useful, and you didn't need an appointment.

If you're building a simpler wardrobe around your colours, my piece on a curated wardrobe for busy founders is a good next step, and how AI is changing fashion covers the bigger picture.

Frequently asked questions

How does AI color analysis work?

You upload a selfie, the app reads your skin, hair and eye colouring and matches you to a colour season, then shows the shades that tend to flatter you.

What is the 12-season color system?

It splits the classic four seasons into twelve more specific types. Most apps here use it, which is why two apps can name your season differently.

Is AI colour analysis accurate?

It's a useful first look, but lighting, makeup and camera filters change the result, so take your selfie in daylight with no filters and compare two apps.

Is it safe to upload a selfie for colour analysis?

A clear selfie is personal data under UK GDPR, as the Information Commissioner's Office explains, so read the app's privacy policy before you upload.

Are AI colour analysis apps free?

Most listings here don't state a free plan, and one offers a trial, so check the free plan column and the listing before you subscribe.
