Yes, Voicemod is free. Its own site says there's a totally free version with a rotation of voice changing options, a permanent clean mic effect and your own soundboard. Voicemod Pro adds the full library of 200+ Voicemod voices, full customisation and unlimited soundboards.
Voicemod is the real-time voice changer and soundboard that gamers, streamers and Discord users swear by. The free version is good enough to have fun with, but it doesn't give you every voice, and the paid options are more varied than most people expect. Here's what's free, what Pro costs on mobile and what to check first, all from Voicemod's own website and its App Store listing, as of October 2026.
What the free version of Voicemod includes
Voicemod answers this one directly on its voice changer page: yes, there's a totally free version. It lists three things.
- A rotation of voice changing options, so the free voices change over time rather than staying fixed
- A permanent clean mic effect to boost your sound quality
- The ability to build a soundboard of your choice
The desktop app also installs a Voicemod Virtual Microphone, which you then pick as your input in Discord or your game. That's how the real-time voice change works.
What Voicemod Pro adds
Voicemod's own wording is that Pro gives you more voices and sounds, full customisation options and unlimited soundboards. In a reply on its App Store listing, Voicemod puts it even more simply: going Pro gets you all 200+ voices and unlimited soundboards.
| Feature | Free version | Voicemod Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Voices | A rotating selection | All 200+ Voicemod voices |
| Clean mic effect | Yes, permanent | Yes |
| Soundboards | Build your own | Unlimited |
| Customisation | Limited | Full customisation |
| Community voices | From a library of 300,000+ | From a library of 300,000+ |
Voicemod prices on the App Store
Voicemod's public web pages I checked don't list desktop prices, but the US App Store lists these in-app purchases for the Voicemod mobile app as of October 2026:
| In-app purchase (as listed) | Price |
|---|---|
| 1 Week Sub | $3.99 |
| 1 Month Sub | $6.99 |
| 3 Month Sub / Quarterly Plan | $17.95 |
| 1 Year Sub / Yearly Plan | $29.90 |
| One Time License | $54.99 |
| One Time License | $109.99 |
| OTL Super Offer | $44.00 |
Two things jump out. The yearly plan at $29.90 costs less than five months on the monthly plan. And there's a One Time License, which most people never notice. If you know you'll use Voicemod for years, that's the option to look at.
The Voicemod catch: phone vs computer
This is the bit that trips people up. In its App Store reply Voicemod says real-time voice changing is on Windows and Mac only for now. On a phone, the app records voice messages and plays sounds, and it can work as a remote control for Voicemod on your computer. To change your voice live on a phone or console, Voicemod sells a plug-in device called VMKey Pocket.
- Windows and Mac: real-time voice changer and soundboard, free version available
- iPhone and Android: record voice messages with 200+ voices, 800,000+ meme sounds, soundboards
- Console and phone in real time: needs the VMKey Pocket device
- Age rating on the App Store: 16+
How to use Voicemod for free

- Let it install the Voicemod Virtual Microphone.
- In Discord or your game, choose Voicemod Virtual Microphone as your input device.
- Pick one of the free voices in this week's rotation and test it.
- Build a soundboard with your favourite sounds and give them keybinds.

Voicemod extras worth knowing about
- Voicelab lets you build your own voice from 100+ effects, and every voice has pitch, bass and treble sliders.
- Instant Replay on the desktop recorder lets you rewind up to 30 seconds and save the moment as a sound.
- Voicemod says its AI voices are optimised for the CPU, so they use minimal GPU while you game or stream.
- Its AI voices are trained with pro voice actors and carry Fairly Trained certification, according to Voicemod.
- Voicemod Live lets Twitch viewers trigger your voices and sounds using Bits.
- Partners include Elgato, Razer, Corsair and MSI, so stream deck buttons and RGB lighting can react to your voice.
None of this needs Pro to try, but full customisation is one of the things Voicemod lists as a Pro benefit, so expect some limits on the free version before you start building voices.
Is Voicemod Pro worth it?
If you stream or play with the same group every night, the rotating free voices get old fast, and Pro's full library and unlimited soundboards are what you're paying for. If you only use it now and then for a laugh, the free version and the clean mic effect are plenty. And if you're sure it's a long-term tool, compare the yearly plan with the One Time License before you pick.

My verdict: is Voicemod free?
Yes. The free version gives you rotating voices, a clean mic and a soundboard on Windows and Mac. Pro adds every Voicemod voice, full customisation and unlimited soundboards. As of October 2026 the App Store listed mobile plans from $3.99 a week to $29.90 a year, plus a One Time License. Try the free voices first, then decide which way of paying suits how often you play.
