The YouTube TV Sports Plan costs $64.99 a month (as of Oct 2026) and gives you 30+ channels: the sports networks from the main plan plus your local ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC. It keeps every feature of the main plan, including unlimited DVR, multiview and 6 household accounts, but drops the news, entertainment and kids channels.
YouTube TV launched its genre plans so people who only want live games don't have to pay for 100+ channels. The Sports Plan is the one most people ask about, and it's a good deal for the right household. There's one catch on price right now that YouTube TV's own page makes plain if you read the small print, and I'll come to it below.
What the YouTube TV Sports Plan costs
These are the prices YouTube TV shows on its welcome page, in US dollars, as of October 2026:
| Plan | Monthly price | Intro offer for new users |
|---|---|---|
| Sports Plan | $64.99 | None shown on the welcome page |
| Sports + News Plan | $71.99 | $49.99 a month for the first 5 months (ends 16 Nov 2026) |
| Main YouTube TV plan | $82.99 | $59.99 a month for the first 2 months (ends 16 Nov 2026) |
Here's the catch. If you're a new subscriber, the Sports + News Plan is cheaper than the Sports Plan for your first 5 months, because its intro price sits at $49.99 while the Sports Plan stays at $64.99. You get every sports channel plus the news networks for less. After month 5 it goes up to $71.99, and you can switch down to the Sports Plan then. YouTube TV's offer terms say no refunds, and switching plans while you're on a promotional price ends that promotion, so time the switch for when the intro months are over.
YouTube TV Sports Plan channel list
YouTube TV's help page describes the Sports Plan as all the sports channels from the main plan plus your local channels. This is the network list YouTube TV's own welcome page carries for the Sports plan, grouped so it's easier to scan. Local channels depend on your ZIP code.
| Group | Channels |
|---|---|
| Local and broadcast | ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, PBS, The CW, MyNetworkTV, ION, Telemundo, Univision, UniMás, EstrellaTV |
| ESPN family | ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNEWS, SEC Network, ACC Network |
| Other national sports | FS1, FS2, CBS Sports Network, Big Ten Network, NFL Network, NBA TV, Golf Channel, TUDN, PickleballTV, WNBA on ION |
| Big general channels that show sport | TNT, TBS, truTV, USA |
| Extras in the lineup | Cozi TV, Dabl, Start TV, T2, Zen |
The help page also says Sports Plan subscribers will get ESPN Unlimited at no extra cost later this fall. That's the full ESPN streaming service, and on its own it's sold separately, so it's worth having in mind when you compare prices. The standalone figure is on my page about ESPN Unlimited on its own.
What the Sports Plan leaves out
Everything that isn't sport or a local station goes. Going by the main plan's lineup on the same page, that means:
- No cable news: CNN, FOX News Channel, MS NOW and CNBC are in Sports + News, not in the Sports Plan.
- No entertainment networks such as HGTV, Food Network, Bravo, FX, AMC, Discovery or TLC.
- No kids channels such as Disney Channel, Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network.
The local channels still carry their own news bulletins, so you won't be cut off from the news completely. But if anyone in the house watches cable news or home shows, the Sports Plan will feel thin. The full network-by-plan picture is in my YouTube TV channel list.
Features you keep on the Sports Plan
YouTube TV says the Sports Plan has the same features as the main plan. In plain terms:
- Unlimited DVR, so you can record every game without running out of space.
- Multiview, to watch up to four games on one screen.
- Family Sharing with up to six personal accounts per household.
- The same limit on how many streams can play at once as every other plan.
- Add-ons, which carry over if you switch plans.
The Sports Plan and NFL Sunday Ticket
YouTube TV pitches the Sports Plan as the cheapest base for NFL Sunday Ticket. The logic is simple: the Sports Plan gives you your local CBS, FOX, NBC and ABC for in-market games, and the Sunday Ticket add-on covers the out-of-market Sunday afternoon games. Sunday Ticket needs an active YouTube TV plan, and if you cancel YouTube TV you lose it. Season figures for the add-on are in this NFL Sunday Ticket price guide.

How to switch to the Sports Plan
- Open YouTube TV on a computer or TV and go to Settings.
- Select Membership to see your current plan and the other plans you can pick.
- Choose the Sports Plan and follow the on-screen steps to confirm. The new plan starts right away.
Three rules catch people out. You can't switch plans in the iOS or Android apps. If you're billed by a mobile carrier or internet provider, you'll need to change it with them, and some plans may not be there yet. And if you drop a genre you've been recording, those recordings leave your library, though they come back if you switch back within 21 days.
Is the Sports Plan worth it?
It's worth it if your household watches live games and local channels and very little else. You keep the features that make YouTube TV good for sport, like multiview and unlimited recording, and you stop paying for channels nobody opens.
It's not worth it if anyone in the house relies on cable news, home and food shows or kids channels. In that case the main plan is the simpler choice. And if you're new, I'd start on Sports + News while its intro price lasts, then move to the Sports Plan once the five months are up.
