How Much Does Instagram Pay per 1,000 Views in Nigeria?

Instagram pays nothing per 1,000 views in Nigeria, because Meta has no per-view rate for Instagram anywhere. The tool that pays from a single reel, Gifts, isn't open in Nigeria either, so any naira figure you've seen for 1,000 views is a guess. The Meta programme that does list Nigeria is Facebook Content Monetization, which covers public reels on Facebook.

I know how many "Instagram pays X per 1,000 views" videos are doing the rounds. They're popular because they give a neat number. Meta's own pages don't, and I'd rather give you the rules that decide whether you're paid at all.

Every rule and figure on this page comes from Meta's own Help Center pages, read as of October 2026.

Where the per-1,000-views figures come from

Instagram's payout page lists four tools that Meta pays out from: badges, bonuses, Gifts and Subscriptions. None of them is a payment per view. Bonuses come closest, because they reward performance, but Instagram says they're a test that runs by invitation, with rules set for each bonus.

So when a calculator turns your views into naira, it's inventing a rate. The best it can be is an average of one creator's brand deals divided by their views, which tells you nothing about your own account.

Gifts: the per-reel tool Nigeria doesn't have yet

Gifts are the only Instagram tool that pays from an individual reel. Viewers buy Stars and send them as Gifts, and Instagram pays the creator one US cent per Star. Note that the payment is per Star, not per view: a reel with 1,000 views and no Gifts earns nothing.

Nigeria isn't on Meta's Gifts country list. Several African countries are, including Ghana, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda. Instagram's Partner Monetization Policies say you must live in a country where a tool is available, so a Nigerian creator can't earn Gifts by meeting the other rules.

The Facebook programme that lists Nigeria

Meta's availability page for Facebook Content Monetization lists Nigeria, and says public reels are eligible as long as they're published in certain countries and languages. English is on the language list. Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo aren't, so if you make content in those languages, check the list before you count on this route.

This is the closest thing Meta has to paying you for your views, and it pays through ads on Facebook reels, not Instagram. Meta doesn't publish a per-view rate for it on that page either, so I won't give you one. What it means in practice: if you're making reels for Instagram, posting them on Facebook too is a second chance to earn from the same work.

How the Gifts maths works, so you can spot a fake figure

Even in countries where Gifts are open, the money doesn't follow views. Here's the chain Meta describes. A viewer buys a pack of Stars inside the app. Instagram takes its share at that moment, and the share varies with the size of the pack. Apple or Google also take their in-app purchase fee from the pack price. The viewer then sends Stars as a Gift on your reel, and Instagram pays you one US cent for each Star, once a month.

So two reels with the same views can earn completely different amounts, and a reel with huge views can earn nothing. That's why I'd treat any per-1,000-views figure for Gifts as a story, not a rate. Earnings are tracked in the professional dashboard under Your Tools, then Gifts, and collaborative posts can't receive them at all.

What drives earnings from views in Nigeria

  1. Brand deals. A Nigerian business pays you to reach your audience, and your views are the evidence. Instagram requires the paid partnership label on every paid post.
  2. Your own products and services. Views that turn into followers and messages are customers.
  3. Facebook Content Monetization on cross-posted reels, where your content qualifies.
  4. Gifts, if Nigeria is added to the list later. Your professional dashboard will show it under Your Tools.

That order matters: while Gifts stay closed to Nigeria, brand deals are the route with no country list attached.

How to price your views when a brand asks

Brands will ask what you charge, and some will mention a per-1,000-views figure they've seen. Don't anchor on it. Start from what the brand wants: reach in Lagos, sales of one product, or followers for their page. Then show your insights for similar posts and agree a fee for the package, not the views. Get it in writing, with the posting date and how you'll be paid.

And please don't buy views to make the numbers look bigger. Instagram says creators can lose the ability to monetize if their audience is largely fake likes, follows or views.

My verdict

1,000 views in Nigeria isn't worth a fixed amount, and nobody can honestly tell you otherwise. What it can be worth is a new follower, a message from a business, or a reel you can show a brand. Build an audience that brands want, post your reels to Facebook too, and keep an eye on your dashboard for Gifts. That's slower than a calculator promises, but it's real. Frequently asked questions

How much does Instagram pay per 1,000 views in Nigeria?

Nothing. Instagram doesn't pay per view anywhere, and Meta publishes no per-view rate.

Are Instagram Gifts available in Nigeria?

No. Nigeria isn't on Meta's Gifts country list. Ghana, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda are.

Is Facebook Content Monetization available in Nigeria?

Yes. Meta lists Nigeria, and public reels are eligible when published in listed countries and languages, which include English.

Why do some videos quote a rate per 1,000 views?

Usually they divide one creator's total earnings, often from brand deals, by their views. Meta doesn't publish a per-view rate, so the figure won't apply to your account.

Are Hausa, Yoruba or Igbo supported for Facebook Content Monetization?

They're not on Meta's language list. English is.

Is Facebook Stars available in Nigeria?

Nigeria isn't on Meta's Facebook Stars availability list.
