To watch Facebook on your TV, open a reel or video in the Facebook app or on a computer, tap or click Options, then Cast video, and pick your TV. Your TV needs a streaming device such as Chromecast, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV or Android TV, or built-in streaming, on the same Wi-Fi as your phone or computer.
Those steps come from Facebook's Help Center, read in October 2026. Since September 2025 every video on Facebook is a reel, and Facebook says the Videos tab is now the Reels tab, so casting a reel is how you watch any Facebook video on a TV, including long ones. There's one catch for iPhone owners that we'll come to.
What you need before you start
| You need | Why |
|---|---|
| A TV with a streaming device or built-in streaming | Facebook lists Chromecast, Apple TV, Samsung TV, Amazon Fire TV and Android TV |
| Your phone or computer on the same Wi-Fi as the TV | Facebook's first troubleshooting check |
| The latest Facebook app | Facebook suggests updating if your TV doesn't show up |
| Local network access on iPhone | Recent iOS versions ask before Facebook can find your TV |
Cast Facebook to your TV from your phone
- Check your TV or streaming device is on the same Wi-Fi network as your phone.
- Open the Facebook app and find the reel or video you want.
- Tap it to open the video player.
- Tap Options, then tap Cast video.
- Choose your TV from the list of devices.
On an iPhone with the latest iOS, Facebook says you'll be asked to let the app access your local network. Tap OK when prompted, then tap Cast video again if your TV still isn't listed.
Cast Facebook to your TV from a computer
- Make sure the TV and computer are on the same Wi-Fi.
- Open Facebook on your computer and find the reel.
- Click the reel to watch it full screen.
- In the player's top right corner, click Options, then Cast video.
- Pick your TV from the list.
Facebook adds a warning here: not all smart TVs support streaming reels from a computer, so if your TV never appears, try the phone route.
Phone or computer: which to cast from
| Cast from | How | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Phone (Facebook app) | Open the video, tap Options, then Cast video | iPhone needs Local Network access, and can't cast to Chromecast |
| Computer (Facebook website) | Open the reel full screen, click Options in the top right, then Cast video | Not all smart TVs support streaming reels from a computer |
Turn on local network access for Facebook on iPhone
- Open your iPhone's Settings.
- Search for Facebook, then tap it.
- Next to Local Network, tap the slider to turn it on.
The iPhone and Chromecast catch
Facebook's help page answers this one directly: you can't cast from an iPhone or iPad to Chromecast. Chromecast isn't available from Apple iOS devices. If you have an iPhone and a Chromecast, cast from a computer instead, or use a different streaming device such as Apple TV.
If your TV doesn't show up
- Check both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Update the Facebook app to the latest version.
- On iPhone, open Settings, find Facebook and turn on Local Network.
- Restart your TV and casting device.
Those are Facebook's own troubleshooting steps. On an iPhone, the Local Network switch is the one to check first, because Facebook can't see your TV without it.
If the video needs to live on a web page rather than a TV, the embed steps are in embedding a Facebook video on a website.
Can you watch long Facebook videos on TV?
Yes. Facebook's update says reels now have no length or orientation restrictions and can be cast to your TV whatever their length. So a full live replay or a long how-to video casts the same way a short clip does.
Looking for a reel you liked earlier before you cast? Where to find it is explained in finding your liked Facebook reels.
The verdict
For most people the phone is the easiest remote: open the video, Options, Cast video, done. iPhone and Chromecast households should cast from a laptop instead. If you're choosing a streaming stick anyway, my comparisons of Roku and Fire Stick and Roku and Apple TV are a good place to start, and if videos won't play at all, work through why Facebook videos won't play before blaming the TV.
