An outro maker helps you build the closing clip of a video, usually with your logo, a subscribe prompt and space for links to your next videos. Some use templates, some write and generate the outro with AI and some are full online editors. Choose by how much control you want over the design. Nine options follow, in no particular order.
The last few seconds of a video decide what a viewer does next. A good outro sends them to another video, your channel or your website. A missing one lets them drift off to someone else's.
The nine tools below cover templates, AI generators and online editors. They're listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and every description comes from the vendor's own website, read this week. If you script your videos, my YouTube script prompts from hook to outro help you write the words that lead into it.
Outro makers at a glance
I checked the free plan column on each tool's own website, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the site says the tool, or a plan or version of it, is free. Trial only means a time-limited trial. Not stated means the pages I read named neither, even where there's a button inviting you to start, so check the vendor's page before you sign up.

Design the outro around end screen timing
YouTube Help says end screens can be added to the last 5 to 20 seconds of a video, with up to four elements for standard 16:9 videos. It also says a video has to be at least 25 seconds long to have an end screen at all.
That timing should shape the outro you make. Too short and there's no room for the clickable elements. Too long and viewers leave before they see them. Leave clear space in the frame where the video and subscribe elements will sit, so your own graphics don't hide them.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
Template, AI generator or editor?
Templates are the fastest route. Pick a layout, add your logo and channel name, and export a clip you can reuse on every video.
AI generators write a script and add visuals, voice and music from a prompt. They're handy when you want a different outro for each series.
Editors give you the most control. You build the outro from your own footage, so it matches the rest of the video exactly.
Six things every outro should do
- Run for at least 5 and no more than 20 seconds.
- Leave space for up to four end screen elements.
- Show your logo or face so viewers know whose channel they're on.
- Tell people what to watch next, out loud.
- Match the colours and fonts of the main video.
- Export at the same size and frame rate as the video.
Signs your outro is losing viewers
- It's longer than 20 seconds. People leave first.
- Graphics cover the end screen. Clear the space.
- Nobody says what to watch next. Say it.
- The music is louder than the voice. Turn it down.

My plain advice on outros
Say the next step out loud. Viewers respond to a person telling them which video to watch next far more than to a graphic that appears in silence. Record one short line for your outro, point to the end screen element and keep the background calm so the clickable parts are easy to see.
If your outro carries text, add subtitles to the YouTube video so people watching without sound still get the message.
Frequently asked questions
What is an outro maker?
It's a tool that helps you create the closing clip of a video, with your branding, a call to action and space for end screen links.
How long should a YouTube outro be?
YouTube allows end screens in the last 5 to 20 seconds, so an outro in that range gives the elements room to appear.
Can I make an outro for free?
Several tools name a free version. Check the free plan column above and the vendor's site for watermarks or export limits.
What should an outro include?
Your logo or face, a clear next step, and space for end screen elements like a video and a subscribe button.
Do short videos need outros?
A video under 25 seconds can't have an end screen, so very short clips usually end with a spoken call to action instead.
Should every video use the same outro?
Reusing one outro builds recognition. Change the spoken next step to match each video.
